Use a lot of fun and I enjoyed myself after attractive. Paul is a lot to do his music dancing lots of games ice cream and I walked to different activities there enjoyed myself immensely
It was pretty small. Lots of food trucks and roller coasters for the kids. Very little vendor booths worth buying as it was mostly cheap stuff. I went to the Fryeburg fair and those vendors were amazing! Quality stuff.
Good for the kids to get out of the house, see some animals, eat good food and not spend a ton on trinkets.
It's a fair that is better for an afternoon or evening crowd. Lots of pavement. Expect to spend alot of $$$ for rides and food. Not worth the $20 per person for weekend crowds. Plenty of restrooms. Definitely stroller friendly. There are better fairs around, and the various festivals in the state offer a better venue for vendors.
I never miss this fair it's my favorite. I would seek the ticket booths in the center of the fair. I feel so bad seeing all those people waiting at the tickets booths by the entrances when they're about 2 ticket booths in the middle usually by the ATM machines. Lots to do and see.
We were there for a horse show and at this time it was the only thing going on.
Of course it was the holiday, along with the nor'easter that affected the east, we headed up about mid day, the traffic was heavy, thankfully, not stop and go with the truck and trailer.
Smaller than i thought. Had a great icecream. Won at bingo, gave 50% back to veterans., saw a funky wrestling show, a corny magician and some cool animals.
It's hard to not enjoy oneself at a county or state fair. There are exhibits of all kinds, and a multitude of animals to see and learn about. There were approximately 20+ food vendors hawking their goods. The church stands, boy scouts, etc have great food at lower prices than all the others. Of course, there are all the rides, and the games. There are motorcycle races, horse races, and music groups. GREAT FOR FAMILIES!!! I'd not been to THIS FAIR for 60 yrs, and it was great. Go early to get good parking! ??
For someone who has been going to the SSF for pretty much all my life, the attraction and draw of what I loved in my younger years seems to have faded dramatically. The rides are pretty lame. The food is pretty much what you can get around any street corner nowadays. I really think the livestock and farmers is what is saving this event. They deserve all the praise for the enormous work they do to keep a farm going in this fast paced world we live in.
I'm not sure how Skowhegan fares in the end game but I think they should consider shortening the event to 5 or 7 days.
Midway was by SGS (Smokey's Greater Shows). Nearly 2/3 of the rides didn't look structurally safe to even be running. They were extremely rusted, which is probably why the workers only allowed a few riders at a time. There wasn't a lot of vendors despite the amount of room. Most of the tents were the same items. There was more seating areas here than other fairs, especially ones that are shaded. The entrance fee/parking is also reasonable.
Been going for over 40 years. Things change over time I guess. Lots of the things that made it great are gone now. Roller coaster, zipper, fun house, many venders have stopped coming due to the huge cost of a rental spot, not as much harness racing. Prices have climbed up of course. Antique engines, tractors, blacksmithing, exhibits of life Two hundred years ago. Love the truck, tractor, lawn mower pulls. Love to see the youngins driving the lawnmower pulling tractors. And of course the FOOD!
Very rare opportunity to see Skijor event today. One of only two places in Maine that has this event. I have never seen anything place to attend this type of event. With the temperature below 10 degrees we only lasted until the end of the novice class which was wonderfully entertaining.
We go to the skowhegan fair primarily for the demolition derby because it is one of the best venues in the area, not to mention the prices are relatively reasonable.
Had a great time! The Tractor pull was great and the Truck pull in the evening was good. The Vendors did not disappoint! However, It was very disappointed with the livestock, No poultry. And the Building that holds the flower show this year was pitiful! I understand the recession we are in. But I know agriculture part could have been better! Restrooms were clean, Big Thank to all restroom attendant's. ? Over all I had a good day with Family and Friends today. That's what count!
The state fair was amazing. There's rides and tons of animals. It works for any budget. It is worth the admission just to see the animals and the events. There's a circus with two motorcycles driving around in a cage. The food is great. There's a great little food truck off the main strip called 'Marla's Little Taste of Heaven' and their burgers are amazing. Definitely worth the trip.
I went to the 2021 Skowhegan Fair and had a great experience, and loved the demolition derby! I intend to keep going throughout the week, while it's still open. Stay tuned for updates and photos.
The fair grounds are beautiful. Well kept. The people who work there are willing to help you. The prices are reasonable. Fun times for the whole family. They also have ice skating in the winter. A lot of horse shows in the summer and fall
My boyfriend & I took our 6 yr old autistic daughter a cpl weeks ago. We weren't quite sure how she would do because she doesn't like big crowds & loud noises. However, she had an absolute blast with the games & rides. It was a little pricey but so are most family activities these days. She had an amazing day & to me that is priceless. We will definitely be returning next year
This fair doesn't seem to have changed much since I was a little kid, which is really what I was hoping for! I enjoyed myself entirely! The demolition derby was fantastic to watch. My son had an absolute blast. The people running games were funny and not the usual pushy people you expect. I highly recommend this fair to anyone!
Nice summer fair. Variety of rides, games, vendors, food,and entertainment. I feel the admission is a little steep, but a good experience for the money. Beer garden is present, and the live music was engin enjoyable. There was shelter for the rain, and complimentary phone charging stations, along with ATMs.
Great envirement and lots to do. My kids favorite thing was the Moose-Mania monster truck. I loved the machinery, quite amazing. Also I found some beautiful rides!
