So much fun to explore this fort! It wasn't busy so we were able to take our time and enjoy seeing every available room as we moved up the hill

What a wonderful excursion for me and my dog! We saw plenty of beautiful sites all with historic significance. What more could you ask for?! ?❤️

Amazing little walk and able to check out the site. Super bummer that the look out tower is closed off!!

Had time to kill before an evening meeting in Topsham so I decided to drive to Popham beach to look around. No one was around so I had the place to myself to explore. Found the trail to Ft Baldwin and enjoyed more of the area.

Easy walk, slight uphill to get to the forts. Disappointed the tower had been locked but still cool to go explore the other ones

Great experience built in 1908. Small parking area. A nice little hike. The tower is chained and locked so no access inside.

My wife and son and I had a lot of fun here! Great view of the bay out to the ocean and nearby islands, boats, docks, birds. Beautiful on a 78 degree day with no wind. This Fort Baldwin is a bit of a hike, but there are at least 5 forts that we saw. Two were not accessible and a lot of random ceiling pieces were missing so beware of that. Really cool interesting and a little bit creepy historic site.

Nice to see but it isn’t as breathtaking as Fort Popham. There’s a short 500ft or so hike that is necessary to reach the main tower.

Very cool old Endicott fort with three gun batteries all open to the public and a WW2 era Fire Control Tower open sometimes. Highly recommend bug spray and watching where you walk as the gun emplacements are very deteriorated.

Nice uphill hike with forts along the way to explore, ending with a tower that is usually not open anymore. It's a great view from up there.

500' walk up hill but there are 4 buildings that you can completely wander around and through

Interesting forts with views of the bay. You can go beyond the tower for a beautiful hike through the woods.

Beautiful hiking and the forts are so cool! The hike to the forts is a little steep but you don't have to go too far so it's doable. Great place for photos and exploring!

An amazing, well preserved historical site in Phippsburg, ME looking over Fort Popham. Be alerted, there are areas within these three artillery batteries that contain ledges that are not fenced off, so carefully guide any children and pets. Otherwise an amazing site to spend a portion of the day.

Awesome old military fort ??, built into the side of Maines rugged granite coast ?❄️☠️???…. There’s 3 separate batteries built in a terrace formation culminating with the Hawley Battery at the summit. You can stand atop each of the 3 Batteries and sneak peaks of the ocean ?. The entire time your there, you’ll hear the constant sound of waves crashing in the beach?, which is pretty awesome ??????????????. In addition to the rustic setting and spectacular views, you’ll also find old brick fireplaces in some of the rooms that are still perfectly intact ??. We’ve seen a lot of these old forts from Maine to Florida, and this one ranks in the top 3 on the awesomeness spectrum ?. Each Battery is flanked by 2-3 massive gun turret, which oif all those guns were blazing at once, it would be a sight to behold ?. After, you can take a short drive across the bay and tour Fort Popham State Historic site. So if your in Bath, Maine passing they and have time to drive down route 209 to Phippsburg, Maine….it’s ? worth the trip ???????????. But if you need piano movers near Bath, Maine who cover the entire Northeast and down to Florida, Call Liberty Bell Moving & Storage of Maine today for quotes on moving ?☎️?

Pompom Beach is awesome and if you don't want to pay the state park fee you can park down at the fort and walk down the beach. There's a point probably about a mile away from the fort down the beach where the beach itself comes to a point and there's a big island with a lighthouse across a bit of ocean and the view is absolutely phenomenal.

Have a great time everytime we go! I do photography and love bringing clients here for Halloween/fall themed shoots? There's some cool little tunnels that go through the forts as well as a very well maintained trail you can hike down to the ocean or follow it to the end- which I've never done haha its especially beautiful in the fall, the array of colors is breathtaking. This is my favorite place to hike. I love the coast and i like the different activities provided down in that general area. Not usually too busy, but this year is way buggy!

Cool old forts great picture chances if the beach is too crowded or windy the hills a great alternate oh and dogs are allowed

An easy walk up a slight incline past several old batteries. These crumbling concrete constructions are fun to explore. The views across the Kennebec River and toward Fort Popham from the parking area are pretty.

Interesting tour (self-guided) of Coastal Defense installation that was active during WW I and WW II near Popham Beach. BRING YOUR INSECT REPELLENT! Mosquitoes GALORE...

A must if you love forts and the beach. The fort is magnificent and a beautiful setting. Walk along the path to 3 different batterys and at the end an amazing tower. Wonderful looking rocks along the way you may even see some quartz crystals and other gems along the spectacular trail, it is a little uphill slope. Well worth a trip and popham Beach is right next door with Fort popham.

Fun hike if you can find it. If you didn't know it was there you might never find it. Signage is almost non existent and it seems like you are driving up someone's driveway. It's a bit of a hike up. Bring bug spray!!!! The mosquitoes are god awful. Cool old forts hidden in the woods.

I was impressed of how the fire places inside this fort were so well preserved.

The fort itself is cool but there are so many bugs and mosquitoes so we didn't enjoy ourselves have to revisit and see if its always like this or not got some cool pics as we ran back to the car though...fyi Fort Popham which sits on a beach is right down the road and definitely worth seeing , you might even get to see a seal too!

Great nature walk threw time as you walk up the hills and discover the forts. Bring bug spray and a flashlight, leave your spirit sensing friend home or in the car as there is lots of presence here! Beautiful view of the ocean at he parking area. You may, or may not, encounter wildlife (see pictures).
