The customer service is BAD. My wife went to get her car worked on here and the men were very rude, including the office manager. Will not be coming back. Very over priced and took over a month to put new brakes in.
The people at this repair shop with the nicest folks I’ve ever dealt with to handle my mechanical issues. Can’t thank them enough. Professional and very kind at the same time. And their price was very reasonable. -Tom from mass used daughter’s phone for review.
Colby and Dale are top notch mechanics and people! I had a bad shimming on my Ram 3500 and was from out of state and was fortunate enough to be referred to this shop. They worked me in and immediately diagnosed a broken belt on my left steer tire. They swapped it out for my spare with no problem at a very reasonable price. Thanks Colby!
Receptionist is snooty and made me cry. Mechanics are good. I wonder if they realize how much business they could lose because of an unfriendly receptionist. I’m sure she wouldn’t let them know when I said I’d do business elsewhere.
Place was crazy busy and the staff still managed to be friendly and welcoming. It was my first time there and I was visiting from out of state and they took care of me just as well as they took care of some of their long time customers who were in there at the same time. Treated us all with kindness and respect and had me on my way with a U-Haul trailer in short time.
My husband and I are from out of town and only have one car. Come to find out, we needed new brakes and rotors. They recognized our situation with one car and were able to replace them in the same day. Very friendly and had a great experience!
I just want to give a big shout out to Dale at Portland auto. Helping me through the u haul process on a Sunday. Made my life so much easier. Because of the storms I have had reschedule several times but he helped me make it happen today! Great customer service! As well as Janet. She was awesome as well!
They went above and beyond twice for me in a month. Excellent people.
Owner even gave me a ride home which he most certainly did not have to. Pricing is very fair and they do excellent work. If I could rate 10 stars I would.
Arrived early for vehicle inspection, 3 customer waiting seats, and reruns of 70' shows on the tv . The car was brought into the garage right at the appointment time and took less than 20 minutes to complete the state inspection.
Very friendly, convenient location, and I will be returning again tomorrow to get my other vehicle inspected.
Took my motorcycle tank here to be painted, and Dale did an incredible job, even under a deadline. I couldn't be happier with the job he did. Highly recommended for anyone needing a motorcycle tank painted or paint work in general!
After my previous auto shop screwed up the last three repairs, I met the owner who set me up.
Multiple repairs, power steering problem, seized alternator, snapped serpentine belt. All repaired better than they were before plus took the extra time to weld a frame problem he noticed.
Took some time but the truck now works like it did when I bought it.
This was quality work, I highly recommend Portland St Auto.
Managed to get a non repairable flat during construction season in Bridgton. Showed up 4pm on Thursday and they manged to order and get the new tire in and on the car by 10am the next day. Great bunch of folks here!
Good place for a uhaul but don't bring your vehicle here for anything big. 1 week has turned into 3 and the car has not been touched since drop of as I have been told by them.
Learned of this business when I rented a UHaul. Very friendly and professional service. I had an issue with my trailer wiring and Dale got it working. I now am using him to do work on both of my vehicles. Guy knows his business. Highly recommend to anyone in So ME
If you have a engine light on, low tire pressure or are low on window washer fluid this is your place. They might be able to complete these small task successfully.
If you need any major repairs don’t go to Portland auto. You will be over charged and very poor quality workmanship.
I 62 years old. I have spent my working career as a machinist/ mechanic.
I was new to Maine and needed basic annual check for safety sticker this place was recommended. I got lucky. I have continued to use them over the last 2 yrs and have nothing but praise for this business. To have honest, fairly priced service fees, and knowledge in one place is a real comfort to me.
David the the MAN! I had tire pressure issues with my first rental, he told me the tread was low, so he advised me to return and get another (I was there over a month) I came back with my second rental for a tire check, David gave a seal of approval THANK YOU! Nissan was good (;
We were driving through on our way to North Conway when we ran over a sparkplug and got a flat tire. Portland Street took us in right away and plugged our tire. Thank you for being so speedy!

Pretend I am your best friend and you asked me for a great mechanic! Seriously, I can't say enough good things about Dale and his staff. I was recommended to go here from a local (that I trust very much) after moving to the area. Dale was extremely professional and did quality work at an excellent value. One of the guys who worked on my vehicle is brand new and he was as welcoming as can be (can't remember his name). Stop looking and go here!
Dale and team saved the day for us!! We broke down and tire was falling off of truck. Tow truck arrived after closing time and Portland auto waited almost an hour past expected arrival. Once we got there we did not have a ride back to the house but Dale was nice enough to drive us home and pick us up the next morning! The price he charged us was way more than fair and we will all be bringing our vehicles to have work done when in town from now on! Thank you Portland auto for being honest trustworthy and above and beyond what was expected!
Went to Portland Street & Auto Body today to have my tire look at had a slow leak, nothing but friendly and wonderful service they took me right in found the problem and were reasonable! Thanks guys for getting me safely on the road and for helping me out! Highly recommend them nice honest people.
I was six hundred miles from home when my check engine light came on, so I was expecting the worst. Lucky for me, I found Portland Street Auto and Body. Dave ran diagnostics and test drove my car and found no ongoing problems. He said it was probably a false alarm and reset the warning light. The light came on again a day later, so I took my car back to the shop. When Dave ran the diagnostics a second time, he found evidence that the problem was a faulty sensor that could wait until I got my car back home to my regular mechanic. In addition, they refused payment for the second round of diagnostics.
I'd say you can trust these guys.
In reference to their U-haul business I have found that this place is not very honest, they have overcharged me and have not returned my calls. As I result I would not trust them with my Auto either. If you are renting a U-haul and you need to return it in the area I would choose another location for dropoff.
I've called this location the day before drop-off and they said that I could turn the Truck in anytime the next day, just leave the key in the dropbox because they close at noon and the Truck would be counted as returned on time . Needless to say, they charged me for an extra day and they charged me for blankets which I have been calling both locations (pickup and dropoff) to drop off. I am stuck with an un-open dozen blankets that they charged me a lot of money for.. There is no reason I should not be able to return these at either location unless it is a scam. Is it a scam?
I have called both locations to get my charges fixed or explained and to find out if I can drop the blankets off and get my charges corrected, Each Time I am told that somebody would call me back -- --No one has ever called me back...
