My father -N- law passed way and I wanted to see if I could repair his truck. I contacted Chris at bayou automotive who gave me the run around for about 2 months claiming to give me a fair price about fixing my truck. Chris was suppose to diagnose my truck to fix the issue instead he just wanted to over charge me for an engine that he never placed on a diagnostic machine. The bottom line is that he’s very unprofessional, rude and unfair! If you take your vehicle there be really to get scammed!
Best service and customer care ive ever had. Without exception. My wife's brakes went out. We are new to Louisiana and it was a blessing to find an honest automotive mechanic who could help us at a desperate moment. Will be recommending to friends and family. Everything was explained with detail and patience. Highly recommend.
This guy is the most knowledgeable and fair mechanic I’ve ever met in my life. He is beyond patient and super thorough. I went to three different mechanics before landing here and all of them either couldn’t figure out what was even wrong, or didn’t even want to take the time to try. I have a 99 passport and I’ve seen him work on 2025 vehicles. The range of knowledge is something you won’t find anywhere else in town. And he will go out of his way to make sure you’re taken care of. He works to genuinely help people and has the fairest prices for the quality of work you’re getting. Don’t bother messing around with other mechanics, come here and save yourself the headache and wasted money you’ll get at other places. This dude actually cares and it shows in his work.

I'm a student, and Mr. Trip was really honest and transparent about pricing and worked really hard to get my car back to me in a timely fashion. He also did a lot of research to provide me with good options with different prices and was honest about part prices and labor.
He upgraded my entertainment system, repaired damaged electronics, fixed my bumper, repaired my weather strips, repaired my exhaust, and did interior/exterior/windows detail. One stop shop for almost any automotive needs at an affordable price and with excellent customer service.
It was so easy and truly a pleasure working with Loren at Bayou Automotive. I own a 25yr old limited release vehicle that needed some major work done on top of other work done by another shop and all the challenges that go along with it.
From the first time I reached out to him all the way through, he kept in touch, delivered what he said he would and did so in a timely manner. Updates, Conversations vs Verdict Invoices/Estimates, Pictures and Video/Audio along the way so I could hear the engine or see when things were coming apart and any issues. In the process of the work he was doing, it brought some issues to light from major work that had been done elsewhere just prior too and he easily addressed them.
That said, since it was on the rack and the engine was out I asked him about looking into things that are more easily accessed while we can. That could have been an open ended invitation to do all sorts of extra work on things but I could trust Loren to tell me if it did or didn’t. I actually added one or two myself that weren’t critical but would need to be done at some point.
The pricing is reasonable and you know how that breaks down so decisions are much easier to make.
Loren also tests things through well to make sure the bugs are worked out and when you pick it up, he’s given you the info you need like when to service plus you know he’ll be there if have any issues.
I’ve recommended Loren and Bsyou Automotive to several people I know personally and would to anyone that has been struggling with vehicle repairs and quality service or someone who needs immediate service and doesn’t have a mechanic or is not familiar with this area.

Mr. Benfield was amazing with my car! I could tell he took his time and it was a very prestige job! He told me everything that was wrong with my baby and still was able to have it ready in a very reasonable time! He made adjustments and went above and beyond to make sure my car was road ready! I spoke with Loren at Bayou Automotive about a problem I was having with my vehicle. Although, he didn't repair the problem, he spent his time researching it and found it was a recall issue. He told me to take it to the dealer and they repaired it for free. Loren was spot on with his assessment. I never write reviews, but Bayou Auto Repair saved the day for my family. Our van broke down on the side of I-20 during our drive to Florida for vacation. We found Bayou and had the van towed there at 6 pm. Bayou stayed open late to fix our alternator for us. They invited my tired, overwhelmed family into their shop while Loren worked. Loren drove to another town to pick up the right alternator. My family left Bayou at almost 9 pm with a new alternator, and we have been able to continue our vacation. Loren and Bayou Auto Repair saved our vacation.
I highly recommend the his company. They are foremost and beyond any customer experience I have ever experienced. Loren is very knowledgeable, professional ad well as personable. He provided quality service in addition to sending updated pictures of the progress as he worked to complete the repairs. During the course of repairing my vehicle he discovered that a previous mechanic made an error which Loren immediately made me aware of and made the necessary repair without an additional charge. Had a total ac compressor and system repair and radiator replacement. Loren is very knowledgeable and will walk you through the work needed I could not be happier with the service. Also had Greg do some wraps on my rear windows and it looks great!
Loren was very helpful and made the process of getting my brakes repaired simple and sweet. I had to work all day today and he made it happen for me despite the circumstances. (He also had a good eye for other issues I didn’t come in for and made me aware that I need new back tires and I have a screw in my front one)
We were here on vacation and had a malfunction with our transmission shifter. We had a long drive ahead and were far away from our mechanic and had no tools. Bayou auto saved our trip and vacation! He was able to get us in quickly. He was fast efficient and personable. He replied promptly to calls and had great communication. If we lived in Louisiana he would be our new go to mechanic! Took my car in after the check engine light came on and Loren was super courteous with the entire process. He kept communication open and would update me throughout the process and, was reasonably priced. After finishing the work on my car, rather than just sending me on my way, he went above and beyond and double checked that everything was still in working order a couple days after the fact. Highly recommend if you're in need of a mechanic.
Broke down 70 miles away from Shreveport on I-20 headed home to Houston in the late afternoon. Loren stayed and waited for us to get there and diagnosed the problem before leaving for the night. Started on our car first thing in the morning and had us on the road before noon. Great mechanic, incredibly fair pricing.
Loren has done a number of repairs of my older model truck, he’s replaced pigtails, engine intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gaskets as well as the steering rack and pinion. He’s is definitely the best shop I’ve found, he’s very informative and willing to give advice to help with your vehicle in the future. I definitely recommend contacting Bayou Auto Repair for any issues with vehicles from mechanical to electrical and every thing in between.

He did a great job on the volvo! Almost half the price of 2 other places. Kept me updated from ordering parts threw the completion of the work! He replaced a/c dryer and replaced radiator bracket. Also did a little extra at no extra cost.

He fixed our cars in a timely manner and they have ran great ever since. He also gave great advice on how to manage certain things in the future. 2010 jeep liberty sport-- I previously went to two other shops before trying this one. Both of those shops told me to drop my vehicle off for a week, to pay for an inspection, and then they will let me know what was wrong with it. Loren didn't change to inspect my vehicle, and he did it within 10 minutes of me arriving while working on another vehicle. The price for getting my transmission flushed, front/rear diff seals/fluid, transfer case fluid/seals, front cv axles replaced was in the price range of where it should be. This is definitely my new favorite automotive shop for getting work done.
Everyone that works at this shop is amazing! They are friendly and I could tell that they care for their customers. I was able to get help with a few issues on my car when other shops turned me away.
