I had ALUMINUM siding and gutters that were taken off my house last year. Brought it in today and did not realize until after I left that it was not rung up as aluminum. It was listed as shredded sheet iron! I was shorted significantly and this is not the first time unfortunately. I was shorted a few years ago and was given a credit and an apology. Well fool me once shame on me but fool me twice? Shame on you. I will never return to your business. There are other companies I can use. Ringing up aluminum as shredded sheet iron is not an innocent mistake. I have pictures and video of what I took in, and if a magnet doesn’t stick then it’s not iron or steel. Any time I go alone without my significant other, I get ripped off in some way. Stop ripping off women and taking advantage of customers. It’s disgusting. Times are hard enough and here I am, having to contact a company while I’m sick and broke, to let them know ripping off people is not ok.
I was frustrated at first being I had never been there before so I didn’t know their protocol. I got completely confused and ended up unloading my truck and trailer myself. So I was pretty ticked at this point. However, their staff was absolutely awesome to deal with, friendly and cooperative, and very generous on their weight and prices. I feel I got the very best deal to be had today!! I’ll definitely be back! And I definitely recommend them to anyone else in need of a buyer for their junk!! Thanks again!
They need to make sure they clean their trucks out good before on the highway run over a piece of metal and put a hole in my tire out of one of their trucks next time I'm calling the sheriff
This one by far the cleanest one in the region. The one in Decatur, AL is the worst, you'll catch a nail in your tires and be meat with what is possibly the worst attitude staff can have (in the office) plus they are slow as pond water. Here, everyone is friendly and safety is up to OSHA standards.
I drive a long way to bring my scrap here. I came with a car they couldn't take because the computer has been down for days then want to send me a check for my copper when they already have a card with my life history on it!! Not very business oriented at all!!
I was very disappointed in southern recycling!!! I have used this company for years for all my recycling, but today is the last time. The directions of where to go wj where vague, there wasn't anyone to ask for help, and when I finally found out where I was supposed to be I had to do all the work myself!!! So... I will definitely not be using Southern Recycling again!!
I like the fact of i was able to drive around the place to unload and not worry about getting a flat like at most scrap yards. Its all blacktop and concrete drives that is clean of all items that could cause a flat tire. Diffently fast service and better prices to buy scrap metal than the surrounding counties.
It's ten times better than the old location on Clay Street plenty of room I got in there and out in a reasonable amount of time everybody was friendly and helpful I definitely recommend southern recycling for your recycling goods

Really enjoy going to southern recycling they are very honest and good prices. Believe me, i have been to every scrap yard in Bowling green, and they are the best in town. Very clean facility.
I have been taking scrap to the new facility on Graham St for a few months now and I absolutely love it! I used to call around to the other places in town to price check, but Southern Recycling always has the highest price. If you have cans, copper, or even old stoves and pipes, you have to take your scrap here!
The people are rude, disrespectful, and leave things behind that are clearly recyclable. The only reason I still use them is because I love and respect Mother Earth. I'll do what I can to help Her regardless of their nasty attitude. Just found out they will not be picking up recycling anymore! Now what are we supposed to do?
First, you really can't rely on Google Maps' directions at this time. Look at the map or you'll be driving in circles! The staff here is really great -- very, very helpful and kind.

They recently moved and this facility is much nicer! You can drop off and check out and get your money all in the same building. Staff is always friendly.
They have a website and it has their holiday pick up schedule. The problem is that there are several holidays that aren't on the list. So you take out your recycling bin and they don't pick it up. They either need to update their holiday pick up schedule or come pick it up when they're supposed to.
Sent my wife up there to sell some catalytic converters. They told her she would not get anything for them. Maybe $1. I called up there and they said it would be $9 a piece. Then said my wife was lying.
I don’t recycle with this company, but there drivers need to pay attention. They were pulling out of a neighborhood, saw me coming, and about hit us head on. They saw we were really close to them and just sat in the road. Very rude.
I had a large trash load but kept broken cardboard boxes on the other side of my driveway and they didn't pick up a single one. I'm basically being charged for a service that doesn't happen.
They are very good price for scrap. Only thing is u get check sent to u on copper not cash. But still recommend this place. Very fast was in as me out in 10 mins.
This place is a rip off. I always take my metal to the recycling plant in Glasgow because that's where I usually work. I always turn in good quality steel tubing. The place in Glasgow pays 50-70$ for the tubing I bring (I get 3 different sizes so it depends on whether I have more 1/2" tube or the large 2" tubes). I always have a minimum of 70 3ft long pieces. Went here cause had a Dr appointment in bg and I only got $20 for the same metal I get $50+ for. They give $160/NT whereas every other place in KY gives over $300/NT. This company is known for trying to monopolize the industry in BG. I wish I could give ZERO stars. Avoid them like the plague!!
This company has been very helpful. They provide us with containers needed for recycling at our facility and pick it up when we call to let them know it is full. I have called several times now and spoken to different people. They all have been so nice!
This is the third time they have left my recycled bin full but take the neighbors items!!!! Its frustrating. They are scared of boxes it seems. We have no choice but to pay for their bad service either. Complete rip off. They get paid to pick and choose work.
