We just finished our second stay at this charming farmhouse B&B/RV park, and it truly feels like our home away from home. The house is an older farmhouse with three bedrooms, beautifully decorated in a way that feels both stylish and incredibly cozy. On our first visit, we weren’t sure how we’d feel about the communal spaces, but we ended up loving every bit of it. The kitchen is gorgeous, fully stocked, and has everything you could ever need. The bedrooms are spacious, clean, and so comfortable. Tonya and Troy are the sweetest hosts—welcoming, helpful, and genuinely kind people who make you feel like family. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, from the tree net and feeding chickens ?And of course, our favorite part: Ralph the outdoor cat, who totally stole our hearts. We will absolutely be back. If you’re considering staying here, do it—you won’t regret it. We can’t recommend this place enough! I can’t wait to see what all the have in store for this place ❤️

We stayed at Firefly Hills Campground for a quick overnight trip to the Gorge and had a great experience. The campground was very clean and well-kept, and Tonja greeted us as soon as we arrived. She personally walked us through the grounds and amenities, which made everything easy and welcoming. It was a relaxing little weekend in the Gorge, and we’d definitely recommend Firefly Hills to anyone looking for a peaceful spot to stay.

Firefly Hills is a tucked-away, intimate RV stay south of Red River Gorge in the beautiful Kentucky mountains. Tonja and Troy are building a beautiful camping oasis that reflects their vision and heart for what an RV community can become. They currently have 15 spacious FHU RV sites and areas for tent camping, with room and plans to grow over the next few years, like two Glamping sites. We attended an event during Halloween and Día de los Muertos, where we met Tonja, Troy, and other RV families to enjoy two weeks of well-planned and executed celebrations and activities, despite unforeseen weather. They have a newly built service building that provides bathhouses, a laundry room, and a small store that has various items for local vendors/artists (all rooms with heated floors). They have a house on site with various rooms that can be rented separately. Outside the house is a vegetable garden that all visitors are welcome to partake. The Web kids' area, hammocks, mud kitchen, hiking paths, and community firepit give more variety for families, friends, and future friends to have places to relax and/or be active, not to mention you are close to Red River Gorge activities, explorations, and dining experiences.

Updated: 11/11/25 This was our second year staying at Firefly Hills. Such a wonderful place to stay and unwind. Tonja and Troy have created such a wonderful and inclusive space for all to enjoy. We look forward to our next visit, and can't wait to return! Original Review: Nestled in Beattyville, Kentucky, Firefly Hills provided an exceptional setting for our Full-time Families event, which was a resounding success! Firefly Hills offered the perfect blend of community spirit and natural beauty, making it an ideal destination for our gathering. The location was ideal for our group, allowing for natural socializing while respecting individual space. The community fire pits became organic gathering points each evening, where families shared stories and formed lasting connections. Children enjoyed the open spaces that provided opportunities to explore and make new friends, while parents appreciated knowing their families were in a safe and inclusive space. Tonja and Troy went above and beyond to ensure the event ran smoothly, embodying the park's mission of creating a welcoming environment for all. Highly recommend Firefly Hills if you’re planning a visit to the Bluegrass State!

Love love love this place! It’s just far enough out in the country that light pollution is very minimal and excellent for stargazing, as well as zero noise from busy roads or any of that. It’s close to a few little grocery stores and gas stations, and only a 20-30 minute drive to the Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge. The communal fire pits are awesome and really conducive to meeting and chatting with other guests. There is also a TON of stuff for kids to do. Just be warned, they will get dirty! That’s exactly what we wanted though, our kids were able to play in the woods and let their imaginations run amok in a wild but safe space. Lots of trails and a couple ponds to fish in as well. The bathhouse bathrooms and showers were very clean and orderly. The little store attached to the bathhouse is also a very cool addition and a place to get some locally sourced goods such as honey, farm fresh eggs, candles, and CHOCOLATE (pro tip, buy the chocolate…..any of it, it’s all good). The Rv sites are all nice, clean and level. One quick note, use a regulator when hooking to the water, the pressure is a little high. For what it’s worth though, I’d rather have to use a regulator with high water pressure than deal with weak or low pressure. While we didn’t stay in it, the house there is gorgeous and offers a cool space for small gatherings. There is also a newly renovated recreation hall for gatherings, complete with a disco ball and very nice repurposed wood floors. The very large fenced in dog park area is also a nice space to let your fur babies run off leash for a while. The owners, Troy and Tonja, are very nice and you can tell they’ve worked very hard to make this a great place to stay, play and relax. The same goes for their staff as well. They should all be very proud of what they’ve done with this place and we’re looking forward to their future plans. Speaking of the future, we will be back!

We switched to this campsite last minute and glad we did. They have a lot of stuff for kids to do. Cleanest restrooms I have been too. Nice level sites for easy set up. Friendly staff. The best part is how close it is to Red River Gorge for hiking. We will be coming back

Lovely camp ground. Fire fly hills is 15 sites the grounds are very well kept. Roads are clear and well graveled. Sites are level and all are full hookups! So easy to get set up, hook ups are perfectly located when you back in. My site had a beautiful rock garden just behind a large picnic table. There are walking trails and a big community fire pit area. Great play areas for kids including a mud pie kitchen ?. The full grounds are a very nice place for kids to ride bikes and chase fire flies. Now! Let me rave about the tiny store and laundry area!!! And the bathroom/showers. SPOTLESS, No REALLY! Absolutely spotless, with heated floors. I have never showered in a public shower that I didn't have to scrub first, but this one was so clean. It didn't feel like a public shower at all more like a spa bath. WOW. What a treat. The owners are the sweetest and most kind folks ever. So helpful with everything. They are so inviting I felt like I was visiting friends. They also have rooms to rent in the big white farmhouse on the property. The weekend I was there yoga and massage was offered to all guest. BTW the price was quite reasonable as well. Don't miss this little hidden gem! I couldn't think of a single thing they could have done better!

We found our new favorite RV campground for times you want to get away and relax. We stayed the weekend at Firefly Hills and thoroughly enjoyed it and the surrounding Red River Gorge area. The hosts at Firefly Hills are incredible and understand what is important to RV'ers including large sites, full hookups, top service and many things to do in the outdoors such as a community garden, firepit, yoga, trampoline in the woods, lots of activities for kids and numerous hiking trails. It's a little out of the way on a curvy, hilly road, but don't let that deter you as we had no problem with our 36' 5th wheel and there were many other bigger rigs at Firefly Hills. Again, the service from Owners Troy and Tanya and their team was incredible.

You can tell the owners really care about this place and have put a lot of thought into every little detail. The campsite was wonderful and we received good recommendations for activities to do in the area. When we had questions or needed help the responses were immediate.

An amazing quiet place to relax and hangout. The owners are amazing. While I was here they hosted a bonfire on Friday night and a lil get together Saturday night for everyone willing to just hang out and chat. Would highly recommended for even just a weekend getaway

I stayed in one of the RV's on the location. Initially, it was a good experience. It was a bit far from the majority of Red River Gorge's experiences, but I knew that when booking. I was greeted and given a tour and run through of the RV I was staying in, which was nice. After the tour my girlfriend and I started putting our things away. This is when we found mouse poop at the head of the bed. We pushed this off as a fluke and perhaps it was missed when they were cleaning, so we slept there that night. On night two, I was woken up by the sound of mice running through the headboard of the bed and gnawing on things. When we woke up, we went to make breakfast in the outdoor kitchen, but that didn't work... so we went inside to make breakfast and found more mouse droppings by the sink. At this point we were frustrated. We were preparing to head out for the day and found that a mouse had gone through my backpack and eaten food that was in the backpack and saw a mouse run through the RV. We decided we were going to leave and not stay the extra night that we paid for. When speaking with the owners, they did offer us a room in their house, but we did not want to stay in a communal space. Upon a request for a refund on the night that we didn't stay, we were told no, due to being offered other accommodations, which was true. All in all, not a great experience and would recommend elsewhere.

Our stay in the farmhouse at Firefly Hills could not have been better. Clean, comfortable, beautiful…perfection. And the campground is a child’s paradise; my son (along with his buddies who stayed in the campground) enjoyed being their feral selves in the wooded play area. We hope to be able to come back very soon!

What an amazing and beautiful campground in the Red River Gorge of KY. It's only 2 years old, has full hook ups and the owners are still developing the property. It has a brand new bathhouse, laundry, the little camp store sells local artisan honey, spices, produce, etc. The sites are big, level and easy to back in too. The Red River Gorge area is beautiful and lots of outdoor activities in the area.

We stayed here for three days and it was one of our best camping trips. The campsite is secluded so you have peace and quiet. The host was awesome. He made us feel at home. The kids loved the play areas, had fun picking vegetables to help mom make breakfast and loved playing the chickens! The site was level and spacious. We are certainly looking forward to going back there!

We chose a visit to Firefly Hills on a recommendation from a family member. We did not stay in the RV Park, but the beautiful historic Farmhouse on the property. Staying in the Farmhouse was far beyond our expectations! The house is beautifully restored! From the exceptionally clean and well appointed furnishings to the quality of the linens, the amazing views from the back deck and huge front porch to the attention to detail and care given by Tonja and her family. We could not recommend any higher! We enjoyed fixing snacks in the kitchen (with fresh eggs and herbs from the property), sitting in chairs by the firepit of an evening or just kicking back and visiting on the front porch overlooking Kentucky's countryside. We will certainly be back and recommend that anyone wanting a quiet peaceful retreat off the beaten path to visit Firefly Hills! A VERY welcoming establishment to ALL!

People make the difference! Lynnea & Doug were awesome. They treated everyone as one would treat a guest in their home. They hosted a campfire, shared tips on unique activities. Doug made a point of aiding campers that were having challenges with equipment. Lynnea shared pointers & tips on rock hounding. The staff allowed our grand daughter to gather eggs from their free range flock. This campground has nice bathroom/shower facilities. Laundry area is well maintained. Camp sites have nice patios and green areas. Two stocked ponds. Nestled on 40 acres that you can walk around and about. An area in the woods that children can play. A B&B overlooks the property and has raised garden beds. We will definitely return to Firefly Hills!

Firefly Hills is a wonderful place to visit. The hosts are welcoming to all, and the house is a delight for those visiting the area without an RV. The house is much more comfortable than the local hotels with all of the comforts of home. The RV park is easily accessible and offers full hookups. Plenty for children and adults to do. While the road in may look intimidating at first, it is easily navigable for any Class A or trailer.

We had an amazing experience at Firefly Hills this past week. It’s absolutely beautiful, has amazing amenities, and the best owners! They have thought of so many details, it sets the stage for such a lovely experience. We would absolutely return and we highly recommend Firefly Hills.

We stayed at Firefly Hills for a week in our RV, and it was just unlike any other park we’ve been to before. It felt like we were living on our own little homestead with chickens, gardens and land to roam! The kids loved the mud kitchen, jumping web and more. And the community fires and attention to detail and guests were wonderful! Thanks for having us!

This countryside campground is everything we didn’t know we needed—a place to truly relax, unplug, and reconnect with nature. Tucked away in a serene farm setting, it offers a perfect blend of rustic charm and comfort. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with concierge-style check-in—no lines, no office—just the incredibly friendly owners coming right to our site to welcome us and get us settled in. It set the tone for a stay that felt personal and easy. There are so many thoughtful features, like a wooded hammock circle with six hammocks, a giant net for kids (and grown-ups!) to play or relax on, peaceful hiking trails, a tucked-away thinking spot in the woods, and big, occasional cozy campfires in the evenings that bring everyone together. We loved picking fresh herbs and produce from the garden and purchasing eggs from the happiest farm chickens around. And of course, we were regularly “inspected” by the real owner of the property—the campground cat, who casually roams the grounds making sure everything is running smoothly. Whether you're in an RV with full hookups or staying in the charming 100-year-old farmhouse, this place makes it easy to slow down and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Can’t wait to come back!

Firefly Hills has been a great place to camp. It is close to a lot of the area attractions. Ownership is active at the site and genuinely concerned with guests having a positive experience. I am sure we will visit again the next time we come to KY.

We stayed here 2 weeks at the beginning of May and LOVED it!! The sites are all spacious, very level, and all have a paved patio with huge picnic tables. The owner and on-site work campers are so friendly and welcoming and the amenities on site are great - a trampoline web installed between some trees is the perfect spot for kids to jump and the mud kitchen area is beautiful, perfect for free range children. The bath house and laundry room was brand new and SO nice as well. On our 2nd to last night we walked outside and saw thousands of fireflies just beyond our site: definitely lived up to the name of the park! Its a perfect location for visiting the Red River Gorge and Tonja the owner has the best recommendations for the best local spots. We can't wait to come back again soon!!!

We absolutely loved Firefly Hills! The location in NE Kentucky is beautiful and the campground a perfect size. The hosts are friendly and fun, and the community campfire was really nice to sit and relax to. We will be back!

Firefly Hills is absolutely wonderful! We rented 3 RV sites including one casita for 4 nights, and enjoyed our stay so much. If you are looking for full hookup RV/travel trailer sites near the Red River Gorge/Natural Bridge area, I highly recommend Firefly Hills. The property is beautiful, and the amenities for campers are spot-on! Level sites, attractive concrete patios with large new picnic tables on every site, full hookups that worked great. We especially enjoyed the casita - a large shed decorated stylishly inside with mini-split AC and heat which we used quite a bit as a gathering spot for our group of 6 adults, due to spring rains. The free range kids we saw seemed to be having a blast playing in the woods in the hammocks, on the "web" (see the website for pics), and the mud kitchen. The new bath and laundry house was super nice and spotlessly clean. Camp hosts were friendly, helpful, and on top of things. We enjoyed meeting the owner - Troy. We will absolutely be back and can't wait to see more of the ongoing improvements.

I went it Firefly Hills Campground with me two kids and my dad. The land was absolutely beautiful, serene, well maintained and PERFECT for kids. My kids loved the trampoline netting in the trees and the mud kitchen! Everyone we met was so nice and helpful and the bath house was warm and clean. I can't imagine being more welcome anywhere else. Definitely stop here on your journey, ESPECIALLY if you have kids!

A boutique style RV park perfect for families with unique children spaces, farm fresh eggs, a pick your own garden, friendly and welcoming staff along with spacious sites. The house also has beautifully decorated rooms available for rent. There are a couple large fire rings to gather around the campfire to connect & share stories of travels. Located in the beautiful Red River Gorge, there is an abundance of outdoor activities (hiking, rock climbing, swimming, etc.) within a short drive from the property. Our family enjoyed spending two weeks here during the fall & have plans to come back in the spring!

We had a great time at Firefly Hills. We stayed in the house. The rooms were very nice. Comfy beds. We loved the setting- although we like being a little closer to things- and for those that want seclusion this is perfect. The hot tub we great at night to sit and look at the stars. The staff was friendly and very attentive. Definitely would stay here again.

This place is an absolute gem! We extended our stay because it was such a great experience. We stayed in the farmhouse. They have put thought into every detail from the mattresses and sheets to hot tub towels, labeling everything in the kitchen, fresh flowers in the rooms, to a welcome sign with your name on it. Seriously five star. Tonya is a brilliant entrepreneur. She understands RVers and knows what they need. Plus she employs young people and spends time mentoring them in far more than cleaning. She plans events for the entire community. What a gift she is to this area. I LOVED that I could pick things out of her garden. I enhanced our pizza with fresh peppers, made eggplant Parmesan and had fresh kale with my steak that I grilled on the back deck. Plus we had farm fresh eggs every morning! The kitchen is so well stocked. We enjoyed a campfire as well as the hot tub. I could go on and on. What a wonderful place and family.

Looking for an affordable place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life? A place that makes you feel welcomed and at home even though you’re away? Firefly Hills is the place to go! The rooms are spacious, beautiful and comfortable. The staff (the owners) are amazing! The location is perfect for the quiet relaxing setting you're looking for. The porch is huge with a swing (you do have to share with the manager, Ralph the cat)and plenty of seating to enjoy and see the beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The chickens across the street will be missed by my husband, they were his favorite. We will definitely be back!
