What clients say about Exhaust Pro in Lexington (KY)

Had a muffler replaced at the Boston Road Exhaust Pro in Lexington, KY. We had made sure to have our own mechanic put our car on a lift and inspect the exhaust system ahead of time, to identify the source of a noise. Our mechanic told us that the car had signs of recent exhaust parts that were in good shape, but that our older muffler was worn out. He suggested returning to the shop where the earlier work had been done (in 2023), if we liked them. At Exhaust Pro we got prompt and courteous service from Ernie Johns, who even made sure the chrome exhaust tip purchased there 2 years ago was reattached to the new muffler. Mr. Johns also made sure we got credit for a long forgotten warranty on our old muffler, purchased back in 2021. Mr. Johns delivered the repaired car exactly when promised, after a reasonable short wait. There is a sign in the waiting area commemorating Mr. John's 30 years as an employee. Pretty exceptional all around!

Friday May 30th 3:00 pm, I arrived at the store to fix a small leak in my exhaust pipe, a person at the counter gave me a form to fill out with my information and vehicle's information, who the form is for and half an hour later no one showed up, the other person at the counter I asked if he could help me and he told me I had to wait for the person who helped me, very interesting to lose a customer who will not recommend this place anymore maybe it's because I'm Latino

won’t do any work unless you buy parts from them, buisness that only wants money instead of helping customers in need

I’ve took my vehicle to them twice now and they are very trustworthy honest people. They do great work and are very thorough. I’m so glad my dad recommended this place!

Great shop to take your vehicle to, to have your exhaust, brakes, and minor repairs fixed, and their Customer Service is amazing. No appointment needed, and have always had my car back the same day. We have taken our 2018 Traverse here on multiple occasions for new brakes, purge valve replacement, and new exhaust flex pipe and minor hanger re-welds due to rusting. They have easily saved me hundreds of dollars by not having the dealership do the work. They will always be my first call for any repair. And if it's beyond their ability to fix it, they'll provide excellent recommendations of who can help you.

Ernie Johns very professional and knowledgeable about systems to give you good advise. Thank you for the fast service and quality!

Always get great service at a fair price from these guys. I have been here 4 times for different maintenance related issues and they've done each quickly and right! Nice guys in the shop too.

I would give this place less than 1 star. Documentation from all repair shops mentioned below can verify the following information. 1 - 02/2024 - I visited E/P on Boston Road to have my thermostat replaced - cost $400. 2 - 04/2024, I heard a rattle from the engine compartment. I took it to another repair shop who told me 'the bolts used to put the thermostat back on was the wrong size, were forced into the screw openings, & the internal threads for the screw hole had been stripped [I never thought impact wrenches were THAT strong]. The only place that touched anything regarding my heating system was E/P on Boston Road. 3 - I took the car back to E/P, showed them the results from the other repair shop, and spent significant time convincing them the work they had done on 02/224 was done incorrectly. As a result, E/P agreed to fix the problem for free. 4 - Flash forward to 12/2024; the heat quit blowing in my car again. I took it to another repair shop and was informed of the following: the last person who fixed the heating system did it wrong; they put in a thermostat that was WAY too small; the bolts to secure the thermostat was the wrong size, & all bolts were forced into the screw hole, and as a result, most of my heating system needs to be replaced [sans the heater coil]. 5 - When I informed the new repair shop of the work & then re-worked my car by E/P when I returned in 02/2024, they had only replaced ONE of the faulty-sized bolts. All four should have been replaced if all bolts had been forced into the wrong opening. E/P did not replace the other three that were too small & the incorrect size when I made them do a re-work in 04/2024. A $400 repair has now cost me close to $2,000. The new repair shop could forensically trace the problems back to the originating install. This significant financial impact should serve as a cautionary tale for potential customers. Given the information above, the decision is in your hands. Choose wisely, and good luck.

The intial service was great. The guys working there were awesome. Feel like they’d taken advantage of mom if I weren’t present. But they fixed the headlight (replaced it). But having difficulty getting it fixed, the new headlight stopped working after about 24 hours. Maybe my mom hasn’t hard enough to do her part but not so friendly now after she spent 1200$.

Took my car to get a resonator and muffler delete, the customer service was good the people were nice, but the service on my car was terrible. I had 4 spots where the exhaust had a leak. I had multiple dealership look at it and say it was the worst welding they have ever seen. They said it looked like the welding machine wasn’t hot enough. They tried to weld stainless steel to steel. I called back up there saying what happened and they wouldn’t refund me my money. So it was a waste of time and money for a terrible job. They definitely aren’t exhaust pros.

Called the day before to ask if they could install my AWE "Touring" Cat-Back exhaust system on my '21 Camaro LT1. They agreed, so I drove up the following morning to drop it off, along with several bags of Mingua Bros. jerky and large Red Bulls for the techs. I get a call a few hours later stating they can't install the system. The service writer stated they would have to remove the secondary cat to install the system, and he referenced the *optional* cat-delete kit & step, which was not part of my kit. On my way to the shop to pick up my car and parts, I called AWE just to be sure. They looked up my order number and verified that my kit was not an off-road cat-delete kit. Arriving back at the shop I discussed with the service writer, but I don't think it was processing. There was no point in arguing at this point. They didn't return the $50 in treats for the install tech(that's fine, but there was no install, sooo...) and they also ate both blowpops from the AWE kit. Again, not a big deal, but generally you don't consume the things until you start the work. This shop doesn't appear to have "car guys" working at it, front or back of the house. Shame. Waste of my day.

I took my old Rav4 in for a loud muffler sound. The place was pretty busy (it took over an hour of waiting) but finally the car got jacked up and the guy showed me the underside of my car. What I saw was a perfectly fine muffler but the connection to the long pipe running under the car was rusted and broken. The guy priced me a new muffler, which I asked if it needed it and he said yes (of course), and new pipe and little extras to put it all together at a price of $864.14!!! And he wouldn't be able to get to it that day either. So I drove off with my noisy Rav4 very distraught. Until.....I decided to drop it off at the Exhaust Pro on Winchester Rd!!! They welded a new pipe piece connecting the muffler to the long pipe and sent me on my way in less than an hour for $119!!!!!! So was Milpond just too busy to take care of a small job and tried to scare me off? Were they not skilled enough to weld a new piece into the existing pipe? Were they taking advantage of a "poor female that doesn't know mechanics"? I don't know! But I know I won't be going back to Exhaust Pro in Milpond and I advise you not to either!

My car died on the way into their parking lot. They were able to get me a new battery , but I also needed an alternator. They gave me a quote and I went outside and called two other mechanics to compare prices. The owner Kevin Degler , has great prices and I knew that God was also looking out for me. My car broke down near his store. I remembered that the Deglers were always letting us use their parking lot for carwashes back when my girls went to Lafayette for the dance team and cheered. The Deglers are wonderful people and have a great business. Thanks for looking out for me. God bless you

Exhaust Pro did a great job installing an aftermarket muffler on my truck. The service was quick, very affordable (I was surprised how little it cost) and the truck sounds awesome!

Front Rotors and tuneup: Excellent! I’ve been going to Exhaust Pro for many year, and they are trust worthy and always professional. Thanks for taking care of my auto needs “again”! Strong 5 star

Would not recommend. 1. Timing was bad. Dropped the truck off on a Monday and asked if it could be done later that day - was told it could be. By closing Monday, it hadn't even been looked at - wasted a whole day just sitting there without any progress. Tuesday morning, was told it would get looked at in the morning. It wasn't even looked at until the afternoon. They finished the work that afternoon, but didn't call me til a half-hour before closing to let me know, so I almost didn't make it in time to even pick it up. 2. Communication and attitude were bad. The only time they called me to give me an update was the start of day 2 and the end of day 2, when it was time to come pick it up. I had to call Monday afternoon to find out that it hadn't been looked at yet; Monday just before closing to find out nothing had been done yet; Tuesday afternoon to check in and be told that somebody would call back again in a few minutes; and again Tuesday afternoon, an hour after the first time, once I saw nobody was calling back in a few minutes. It seemed every time I called, the person answering had an annoyed attitude that I should want to know what was going on with my truck and when it would be done. Very frustrating. 3. Diagnostics were bad. As for the exhaust, I'm guessing it's fixed right; it sounds quieter, at least. As for the ball joint I asked them to check, to get a second quote for a pothole claim with the state (one mechanic had already said one needed replaced and showed me the play in the wheel that confirmed this), I was told that the front end was tight and that it didn't need replaced. A week later, with no incidents that would have caused the answer to be any different than what ExhaustPro should have seen, a third mechanic, confirming the first's observation, said the ball joint needed to be replaced. Not at all impressed. Price was OK, and I assume exhaust is OK, but I'd pay a bit more to get better service. I don't see myself going here again. [[EDIT: The guy that was working on my truck, Ernie, called today and apologized for how he may have come across in our interactions during this work. He told me that he is working on being better about how he talks to people when work starts stacking up and he starts feeling stretched. I understand we're all works in progress, and I appreciate his apology and attention, so I added a star back to my original review.]]

Called on a Saturday morning and they were able to fit me into their busy schedule. They installed a true dual exhaust kit on my 92 Firebird and did a wonderful job welding it together and modifying it to fit with the headers as the ones made for the kit are unavailable. Quality work and fair pricing within the quote range given before they started. Next project car or anyone I know needing exhaust work is getting them as my recommendation.

Here’s an honest review. Took my wife’s car due to major rattling going on. Guys looked the car over. Figured out she just needed her heat shield screwed down a little tighter. Zero charge. A+++ people here. This is where we could have easily been taken advantage of, but the guys here at Exhaust Pro Boston Rd, they did not. No charge at all. That’s hard to find these days. So that’s my real, honest review.

I have been here multiple times and it is ALWAYS an amazing experience. They are dependable, reliable, and honest. As a female who doesn’t know much about cars, I appreciate having a place to come to that I can trust. I highly recommend.

So thankful our mechanic of 30 years, Kenny Parks at Mitch’s Auto, suggested this business and location. (Auto Stop, another quality auto service did so as well.). Evaluation and plan presented in a timely manner at. a reasonable price. Kevin was an excellent communicator!

Fastest oil change I’ve ever had! I came in and practically by the time I’d filled out the information sheet, my oil change was finished. They did a great job. Price is comparable to other places, but they’re faster than anyone else! In the oil change, they didn’t do all the extra inspections and suggest a bunch of other things to repair/replace. But, I did have another warning light on my car and they looked at that and fixed it as well. Also, they don’t take appointments- it’s first come, first serve. But there hasn’t been a line when I’ve come. I’ve never been to the mechanic side, so I can’t speak to that.

I was quoted by another shop $250-$300 just to have my resonator cut and have a pipe welded in. Although I had to drive a bit from my hometown, I am 100% satisfied with the work done. They got my car in an hour before close and had it done within 30 minutes for only $105 including tax and service fees. The welds are amazing on the pipe and they are actually better than factory, I appreciate the work put into my car and the willingness to do it that close to close.

First time customer, they were super professional, did not gouge me on the price of what I asked them to do. Ernie was awesome. The guy that worked on my truck was awesome. I had my exhaust switched out on my jeep gladiator. Everywhere else wanted to charge me over $400 to switch out the exhaust. these guys did it in less than 35 minutes and only charge me for the time that it took to change out the exhaust. This is why I will be a loyal customer to these guys and take all my vehicles in to let them work on it. Highly recommend this location.

I had an excellent experience here, and would highly recommend this repair shop. To provide a little back story, I had a brake job done at another repair shop that I realized was not completed correctly when the car started making a pretty awful noise afterward. I wasn't comfortable driving the car very far in that condition and was not looking forward to being without my vehicle over the weekend. I came in to Exhaust Pro on a busy Saturday morning and they fit me in, found the source of the problem, located the part needed even though they didn't have it in the shop, and had the issue taken care of the same day. The cost was extremely reasonable.....way less than what I was expecting. Their communication and customer service were excellent! It feels amazing when you find a business that goes the extra mile to make sure you're taken care of.

They fixed my exhaust/flex pipe several years ago and this past summer fixed a break line and caliper. I appreciate that they are very straight forward and I feel like they are honest! Pricing is pretty good. Definitely will go to them first when I have a car problem :)

Awesome experience. These mech techs are fix it mechanics, not just parts replacers. Did in a day what another shop couldn’t figure out in almost 2 months. Appears the customer service guys are very involved in the repairs and turn wrenches themselves. They can communicate to you what they can do. New shifter cables found! A vintage 2002 Saturn back on the road.

I’ve been bringing different vehicles to these guys for over two decades and I’ve always had a top notch experience! They are honest, knowledgeable and their prices can’t be beat. One time I was convinced I needed brakes and I dropped my 2009 Toyota Avalon off, only to have them call me and say the brake pads were dirty and they cleaned them off and didn’t charge me a penny. Today I had them do a brake job on my 2010 Toyota 4Runner and replace the front wheel bearings and once again, they did a great job! Kudos to the staff for running such a great shop!
