Don't use this place their cheap as crap go to all metals downtown you will get much more if your selling any type of metals They low ball you on everything Even if you have a significant amount of weight especially with copper there a dollar cheaper the all metals.
I brought in 2 catalytic converters from an old vehicle I replaced them on. The lady at the front desk immediately was rude to me, acted like I was bothering her coming in and speaking to her, and shrugged her shoulders as she sent me to (I think his name was Paul).
He didn't want my catalytic converters and suggested they were aftermarket fakes, which is fine, I have no way of knowing if they were or not. But there is no excuse for the front desk woman to treat potential customers the way she did me.
We're done business here several times. The workers are always kind and respectful. They do the heavy lifting, even we we offer to do it for them. We've never had a bad experience and always felt we've gotten a fair trade!
On aluminum, don't bother unless they're only soda cans and by themselves.
They won't take clean aluminum foil or aluminum pans.
When I said if that's their policy they're welcome to dump the bags and pull out what they won't take, they refused and said I would have to stand there and sort through the four bags myself before they would accept them.
I said I'd just take them to the city drop-off and the guy just said "Yes, ok."
City won't take foil or pans either, but at least they helped with dumping out the bags and sorting out what they couldn't take, which was worth losing the probably buck fifty I would have gotten from BFR.
The problem isn't with them having a particular policy on what they take and following it. It's being treated rudely and like you're being an unreasonable burden on their day when you're just trying to do a socially responsible thing in recycling.
Save yourself the annoyance and just steer clear, even if it means losing out on the cost of a bottle of pop.
Came in with 35 lbs of soda cans. Guy weighing said "minus 4" so I asked "for what". He said for the 6 dog food bags and one box they were in. I told him they didn't weigh even close to 4 lbs. So they took everything out and weighed the boxes and bags and they didn't even register on the scale, but still he said "minus 2"...
I let it go. But when I get inside they only pay me for 31 lbs.
All for $1. And the US average for aluminum right now is $0.59 per lbs and they only paid $0.26 per lbs.
And they can't even pay for what I actually brought.
I'm done getting robbed here.
Friendly staff but picky about aluminium that was cleaned. At least they are up front about it. Great place for used tires very reasonable and they let you pick your tires out yourself with the permission of the yard boss of course.
BFR is a fair/honest/reputable salvage dealer who gives the best service and prices in this area. The 1star comment guy doesn’t like the idea that going to get his junker vehicle will cost BFR more $ than the vehicle is worth. Let him haul it BFR if he wants the most $ for it. Nobody is in business to lose $.
