What clients say about Leavenworth County Solid Waste in Lansing (KS)

Just wanted to let you know that I have a concern on your staffs that are very rude to costumers that are providing your company devices for decades and your staff exchange words not in a professional manner. This is not the first time this staff has been aggressive. And only to me but other customers. Someone needs to speak to him. He is in charge and drive a back hoe. Sorry to say this but Your company has just lost a dozen customers.

I've been doing business with the Leavenworth landfill for over a decade never in all of my time Have I had an issue until today I brought in my 20-ft dump trailer loaded to the top and my truck bed full of carpet and pad I could not possibly throw the carpet and pad behind my truck because I had a 20-foot trailer The baby beside me was empty I figured I would unload my truck bed over there perhaps even in the bucket of the backhoe however I was told I am not allowed to unload anything off to the side of my truck It had to be directly behind it and I asked the guy so how am I supposed to throw anything behind my truck when I have a 20-ft trailer full behind it response I got pretty much was not my problem I guess it's too much to ask in a dump to be able to actually dump your trash I guess now my business will no longer be doing business with the Leavenworth county landfill.

Got all that trash out of my trailer, including the recliners, table, and theater seat.

Not efficient at all. Waiting in for over 30 minutes only to find out when I got closer to the station that they only use cash or check. Surely they can afford another sign to have closer to the entrance.

The line- holy crap. Like I understand the wait in as the facility is small where you can dump. The wait OUT is where I am genuinely confused. Why are we waiting so long to pay/exit? ?

The wait time at this place is getting absolutely ridiculous. The line at 11:30 is backed all the way out to the main road and up Gilman. You will easily spend 1.5 hours in line.

The place would be great to come to if it was more efficient. The last time I was here I was stuck in line for an hour and a half and today I’m going on 45 minutes. I don’t understand why it’s taking so long because they’re only letting one person at a time dump when they clearly have five or six bays open. Price is cheaper than going to hamm, but hamm is so much more efficient.

Staff is friendly but it’s not efficient. Mangers need to step up and figure out how to expedite the semi trailer change outs. Our guys spend 2 hours a week waiting in line.

I come out once or twice a month with my recycling. Don't expect to get paid for your recycling but you are helping the planet. Haha. I just don't like throwing everything in the garbage when I can send it back to me made into something new.

Place works part-time hours. How's anybody with a job supposed to get there? I'm sorry that I work a full-time job. Had to go to Johnson County to dump my trash because they work full-time hours.

Easy in and out. My first time there, staff was very helpful and explained what to do and where to go. Overall very good experience

They did finally put in a second scale to decrease wait times. Wait times are still over an hour half the week. They are closed on Saturdays and Monday's, and they are closed weird holidays like Black Friday and Christmas Eve. You wonder how many millions of dollars are waisted in productivity by people waiting in line or turning around and having to come back because once again there are 25+ cars in line.

As info, you do not need to wait in the scale line to self-sort recycle the basics. I’ve added photos of the recycling area. I hope the transfer station can add signage or a blurb on their webpage about that. Friendly staff and easy, free recycling for all of the common stuff like cardboard, paper, plastic, and glass.

Hands down worst dump to go to. The lady at the front scale house only allows one person at a time to dump and has a horrible attitude. They should really go shadow Mark II transfer station and how they operate, you'll see an increase in revenue! Not to mention everyone dumping is dumping out the back of suv or passenger van. Get it together Lansing Solid Waste!!!

Great for recycling when the red head worker isn't bagging up cans and causing bees to fly around patrons and get stung Arrived on Saturday with truck load of cardboard recycling and the bin was full so had to pay to dump it .. Not eco friendly. Saturday should have empty bins ready for use. No one there to replace with new bin. Wouldn't let us drive around to the extra bin area. Cost us 45 minutes waiting on weigh line in and out. Plus $6 to dump

Customer service was good. Price was excellent. Dog treats were available:). I was there right at 0800 so I didn't see the line others have talked about. And best of all, it was open on Saturday. This was the closest landfill that was open on Saturday, without it I probably would have had to take time off of work just to empty my truck.

Very well organized operation. Price is set at $52/ton. My pickup averages about $15-$20 for construction debris, like drywall, MDF, PVC pipe off cuts, busted up furniture, etc. You must have a tarp over your load or they charge you $5 extra. They accept major credit cards. They weigh your truck/car fully loaded at the start, you dump your trash on the floor of the shed (not actually into the hopper), then you get weighed again unloaded. They accept people with loads from out of town as well.

Had to drop off toxic chemicals to keep them out of the sewage and landfill. Pulled up onto the ingoing scale, talked to the attendant, pulled over as directed, got some assistance unloading many of the paint cans, drove around the back, thought I had to reweigh my vehicle, then found out I didn't. The 2 female workers were friendlier and more helpful than the males.

The Chick-Fil-A of Waste Management! From the customer service on the phone, to the weigh station ladies and the guys helping me at the unload portion, everyone was super friendly and respectful! Also very reasonable in price!

Nice facility, friendly people. They always give my dog a treat when I go there.

Best prices in the Metro! Make sure to tarp your load. (No tarp is an extra $5.00) I've never had any issues with the ladies at the till but sometimes the guys directing traffic can be Aceholes. But I guess if I had to smell garbage all day I wouldn't be all that happy either.

Very convenient for shrub drop and other household items. Very helpful staff as this was my first time there and I really do appreciate that they off free things for members of that county. I haven't visited many dumps in my time but by far this one was any easy experience. And it's a nice drive through the country to get there

Very easy to access and operates efficiently. Prices are reasonable compared to other landfills and the accept cash or cards.

We tore out a covered porch with sliding glass windows. Weight was almost 2000 pounds. I used my one free dump. You are allowed 1 free per Household. They accept everything except explosive material.

Great place to take the recycling from our house. Usually pull right up to the self serve bins. No hassle unloading, just have you stuff sorted - Then it is a quick in and out.

While the line is long (single lane weight scale in and out) it is very affordable. I paid $13 for a pickup truck worth of trash. I recommend going during off-peak times. Make sure you have a tarp or a cover. If not, there is a $5 fee to travel the 100 feet between the scale and disposal area.

You can get rid of almost anything here. The catch is you gotta wait in line. Plan for about 2 hours. Need to dump grass? Gotta check in first, but the line is about 30 cars long. Need to recycle some glass? Good luck getting through the line. Things would be much more efficient here if you didn't have to check in for everything. Half the services there are free so I really don't understand the need to check in. I'll just burn my grass clippings from now on. Glass will go in the trash. Thanks, LV County Solid Waste.

Stopped by there to drop off a few pieces of cut up 2x4 and 2x6 pieces of scrap lumber. Like 10-15 pieces max. They charge based on weight, but have a minimum charge of $13. If you use a card, they charge 3 additional dollars. I understand they have to charge, but it should be strictly based on weight. The cashier has no personality and was extremely rude.

Always have had a good experience here. Very polite and easy to work with. Glad they have signs for people to stay the heck off their phones.

Person at desk has no listening skills. Made a disabled person make a second trip to prove Leavenworth residency even when she was shown the paperwork. Should treat disabled with more respect.
