Both times I have dropped off waste, they were so friendly and quick. Easy to sign up, happy for the reminders. Great experience.

It is very easy to schedule an appointment to dispose of your hazardous waste/paint/household/ and other products.

I have 8 fluorescent tube light bulbs , the longest being 4’ , to dispose of and they don’t fit into your size categories of a shoe box as described on your appointment schedule. The web site mentions if you get there and your item are in the wrong size category, you won’t take it and I’d have to make a new appointment. so I called and when someone finally answer the phone… I was told To get an express appointment , my items had to fit in a shoe box or be only 5 items. For more than 5 Items I could make 2 express appointments or wait till next month and make a mid size appointment!!!!! Next month!!! All that time and gas to go to the place twice to get rid of 8 light bulbs. First off, if the bulbs were a different shape they would fit in a shoe box but a shoe box is a ridiculously small size to limit a donation too. Not much will fit in a shoe box!! Your website also mentions 5 gallons or shoe box size ( there is no mention of 5 items rule on web site), as your courteous phone attendant mentioned)…. A empty 5 gallon paint bucket is a lot bigger than a shoe box but is also is a ridiculously small amount, when you considering the effort, the time and the gas to get there, the fact you have to schedule an appointment to just come there. Perhaps you could be as respectful of my time as you want us to be of yours. Why do you have to have an appointment to drop off small items like fluorescent light bulbs or other small items anyway? Why don’t you have a drop off box similar to what the hardware stores use to have, for light bulbs or small donations? ( think of all the small donation appointments you would eliminate) I want to be environmentally conscious but you are not making it practical for people by making it so restrictive and less assessable. By the way…….I tried to donate at the Olathe facility on one of there drop off Saturdays and they said they aren’t suppose to take things from Leawood residence. They did take my things but said it had Something to do with Leawood not paying their share? Last time I looked Leawood is part of Johnson county and we pay our taxes too. What is going on with that.

My first time going, so I can't say what my experience is yet BUT why are appointments so far out? As someone else said: do you want people to dispose of items improperly? Then let people get in there faster or open it up to no appointments necessary. A month out being the EARLIEST time available is a bit ridiculous, don't you think? Especially after hearing other people say you're never busy.

Why do they make you wait so long for an appointment? I was there once and they are not busy. Almost like they want to encourage improper disposal!

I was very pleased with the service. Easy to make an appointment and drop off old paint and household chemicals.

Not writing a review to rate the service but more as a PSA. I stopped in to the new facility on Mastin (the location that shared the wastewater property is now closed). They are still getting things settled. The free store is pretty thin right now and 5-gallon re-blended paints are not yet available. It is easily accessible. The first available appt to drop off hazardous waste (as of July 1) was July 17. As the website mentions, drop off availability is to increase as they get settled.

Please expand the hours to Saturdays and some evenings. It is pretty much mandatory to use this facility and the hours are very inconvenient for those of us that work all day, every day!

Appointments are nearly a month out? That seems a bit silly for a public safety/fire prevention service we're already paying for.

My one and only trip back in 2016 to household hazardous waste was great. We had just purchased a fixer upper north of Quindaro and I can't stress enough how much work it was for a freshly turned elderly couple to do. All the cleaning and painting......jeez, I thought it would never end. Now, it's my opinion that the entire house needs painted again. Susan Sergheyev After several trips to hazardous waste, I could almost tell you what isle which of the free stuff is,(in one place particular bldg. Everything is free. However, some isles have varnish, small paint cans, floor stripper, bug fogger, bug spray,actually- anything someone decides they don't want and drop off. Also, for $15. You can get 5 gallons of white paint which my husband and I found out that taking into a Lowe's or Home Depot directly to the paint department you pick a shade card and they'll tint it for you. So all and all, H.W. is a huge bargain

I have visited this facility about once/year for the last 10 years, and without fail everyone is very friendly and helpful. This is one of those things you don't have to do very often, but it is a pleasant experience!

This is a great service provided by Johnson County Government. They have free drop-off for unused quantities of paint. Then they combine similar colors together until they have enough to sell 5 gallon buckets for a minimal cost. I got 5 gallons of white paint for $25 and was able to paint my entire toe home before moving out.
