My daughter attends KU and we're 3.5 hours away, so when she needed a new car battery because her car wasn't running correctly, she was nervous and unsure of where to go. She went to Advance Auto Parts on Iowa Street in Lawrence, KS and we couldn't be more grateful. The staff was polite, respectful, and immediately helpful. She purchased a new battery, and they installed it right away -- she was back on the road and on her way to class within 30 minutes. As a parent, it's such a relief knowing there's a place she can go where people will treat her kindly, take care of her and not take advantage of a young college girl. I pulled up to get my battery tested. While I waited for the other employee to get finished with their tasks, this smelly long haired guy just stood outside smoking. When he finally came over to me he had his cigarette in my face along with the smoke. He didn’t even help, the other employee did. Not impressed.
Complete disgust at the quality of service today. The Joe Isuzu looking guy behind the counter was more interested in hitting on the woman at the front of the line then actually attending to his customers. Guy in front of me walked out after about 5 minutes, I waited about another 5 before I threw my items on the counter and left. O’Reilly here I come.
Today July 3rd, I needed help with something under my hood after making purchases with them. So I went inside and asked Mr. Mike for assistance and advice and he was very quick to help and very knowledgeable as well! MIKE Your customer service is A1! We need more like u man! ⭐ very appreciated.
Staff is amazing and high quality hires. Don't know what A A Ron was so mad about though. Guy needs to realize a lot of this stuff is 3rd party and is not in the stores control. I've always had a professional experience with staff and they are always dressed appropriate. Guy needs to take a breather before his type 3 diabetes gets him. Also don't think you should order from a store 50 plus miles away???? like order to your house like a normal person? It's not very cutesy or demure. Love this store and the staff! Even though I’m in Kansas City, RENEE went above and beyond 10 minutes before closing to get me taken care of allll the way from over there! Great service and friendly attitude. Very pleased.
Rudy helped me a lot today by directing me with the right oil in my car today. He was such a delight and patient while explaining how to detect oil changes. Rudy is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I hope to see him again if I have another problem with my car.
Another co-worker also helped me by explaining what causes engine problems. I had a great time today! Will be my number one Advance auto parts location in Lawrence, KS.
They had the part I needed, unfortunately it was defective but! Rudy was super friendly and went above and beyond in getting the situation resolved! 10/10 be back again!
Had a spark plug electrode break on my GTI, and first place I went was this store. I come here probably once a week, so I'm familiar with most the employees. I was helped by an unfamiliar face and got a replacement, and I was on my way. This replacement set of spark plugs caused my engine to misfire quite badly, so I went back.
Once I was back, I was quickly helped by Rudy, who promptly found the proper spark plugs (which the other employee said weren't in stock), and I put them in my vehicle. To my dismay one of the spark plugs was defective, and I brought it back, and once again Rudy was outstanding, helping me get a spark plug ordered across town, since the Iowa location had no more in stock.
Overall, I'm very impressed with the quickness of the store network and Rudy, because otherwise I wouldn't be driving my car for a while.
So my fiance and I came in to address and issue with his car and some guy named Rudy basically told my man that he's not a man and would make fun of him and degrade him in front of my face then asked me why am I with my man. He tried to sell us stuff we didn't even come there for. Then to tell us to try to call him outside of work so can can work on our car very unprofessional. I made a complaint to a manager and Rudy was very nosey and tried to get into our business of talking. I have avoided that store ever since but I do got to compliment Jax for helping us with any issue. She definitely goes out of her way to make sure you are taken care of and left satisfied.
Not sure why but came into the store at 1045 am and no employees were in the store. I waited for 10 minutes and finally gave up. Might have just been bad timing, but you'd think they would have had at least 1 person manning the counter.
Best option for your car, hands down. The staff has an actual gear head that is experienced in racing, European cars, bikes, boats, and will ask you about the project because he's genuinely interested.
Always had good luck getting what I need here. If they don't have it they will find out how to get it. I like to see who I’m talking to. Went into the store and the clerk had a hoodie, sunglasses, COVID mask. Even when I meet someone I remove my sunglasses if I have them on to shake hands.

Went in for an item and all the employees were up front talking about what they were doing for the 4th, and did not to offer to help and did not help when asked. The customer service has gone down hill since the old days. Did not even get any greeting as you enter the store. I guess that would have interested their talking. Very poor customer service.
Cody is the best person to talk to over there. The best thing about advanced auto parts is that you get to pop in, ask the most basic question and someone there will find it for you. I don't know about you but I am a beginner in fixing cars and having someone like Cody to help me figure things out is super beneficial
Great place, better than anywhere else. The guy with Hughes on his shirt is a great employee and always gets me what I need, John on the other hand is kinda eh. But it’s okay.
Had to buy a new hose for a vw. They didn't have any in stock but the gentleman asked me to hold on for a minute. Went to the back and came back with a hose pretty close to the same one. He didn't have to do that but I greatly appreciate it! IlI' be going back when I need to get more parts
They held a starter for me and tested the one we brought in and told me it was good. They offered to run a system test on the car if we could get it there. We did and they found no issues. They were really helpful! They didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need.
John and Bricen were working when I came in. I asked John to check my engine light and a a bolt needed replaced on my battery. They checked my engine light but John's only advice (repeatedly) was to take it to a mechanic. Apparently if you clear an engine light (since the issue sounded like it might have been a fuel fluke) the store can be fined. Didn't write the code down or anything. Just take it to a car repair shop. Pretty unfriendly dude with an attitude
The person who helped me went out of his way to assist me with a battery install in my motorcycle i lacked the right screw adapters and he gave me some that were left behind, very helpful. (also no security cameras outside, witnessed a hit and run on a trailer) ((seriously))
Even though they advertise “Free Battery Installation”, the associate flat out refused to install my wife’s battery. No explanation given other than he doesn’t want to do it. But he still wanted her to purchase the battery from him. We will never spend our money there again.
The battery I purchased was a smidge higher in price over some competitors, but I needed it done so I stuck with these guys. To my surprise the gentleman helping me not only carried the battery to my car for me, but he also installed it and took away my old one. I was super appreciative of that!
