this place is a scam! contacted them about an engine they listed on FB marketplace. was told it had 123k miles. upon picking it up I ran the VIN on the block and it came back to a totally different year and it showed 212k miles. after further investigation turns out they flat out lied about the engines history and also damaged it during removal from the donor vehicle. I'm talking cracked oil pan and even stripped threads in the block. stay away from these ppl at all costs! idk how this place is still in business
Called them about a part they posted on eBay.. asked about specifics..ANY DAMAGE? ANY CRACKS..ANY PROBLEMS? it was like trying to grab a snake with grease on it.. couldn't get a straight answer if my life depended on it..first thing out of his mouth is it's nice... no problems.. immediately followed by it's a old part it's not perfect.. ..lol.. what idiots..age has nothing to do with damage..you lose all credibility when you talk like that...I advise you to not order anything from these people...look elsewhere is what I got out of my 5 minutes talking to the Chief scientist at NASA..lol...

We live 5 hours away and made sure to send pics of what we were looking for before we bought and was very honest. Parts were pulled and ready when we got here. Helped us load. Very courteous. Very pleased. Definitely recommend.
(THEY PAY IN CHECK) It's not a good place for sell at forts they give you an offer and when they're in the place another offer totally low, they offer to me $1000 for a Ford escape 2013 totally great inside and everything except the engine, my car has a engine problem expensive one so I decided to sell it and when the driver arrived said that my car could also has a transmission problem and I tell him that the mechanic just check the engine and the transmission was fine but I have asked about if the transmission could be the problem or just engine, but this man wanted to used that and said we offer $500 and wanted to pay in check so I said no and I said the offer it's too low and we supposed to accept $1000, so I don't totally recommend that!
Professional, kind, and swift service. Staff was very helpful in helping me find a car part and even referred me to other businesses if they didn't have the part.
Extremely Disappointing Experience and Poor Customer Service
I am obliged to give this business a 1-star rating due to the extremely poor experience I encountered. I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
The primary concern was with the customer service, especially the way they treated my staff member. The individual in charge was not only rude but also highly irresponsible. A significant error occurred when they sold us a transmission with incorrect labeling, resulting in us receiving a part that was incompatible with our vehicle. The VIN on the part was for a different car, clearly indicating a mistake on their part.
When we sought to rectify this issue, the response was wholly inadequate. Despite offering a credit initially, all subsequent communications regarding an exchange or a refund were met with silence. It has been almost four months with no resolution, effectively stranding us without the part we need or our money back. This lack of response and refusal to provide a refund feels akin to theft.
Their attitude took a turn for the worse when they suggested resolving this matter in court, showcasing an extreme lack of professionalism.
I write this review to caution potential customers about the service and ethics of this establishment. It's a tale of frustration, unprofessionalism, and what feels like a blatant disregard for customer rights and satisfaction.
Most ridiculous place I've ever been to! I called 8 times no answer. I called and got the owner to complain he didnt even get an answer! Sold me a bad tire and would not refund me. I asked him 3 times and the guy probably did not understand me but he told me it's okay. It was horrible customer service. Never had this happened before.
Drove three hours each way to get a transmission I needed and it was a good experience. They helped me load it up and got me exactly what I needed for about 80% cheaper than anywhere in Michigan. I'll definitely be back. Thank you guys. I appreciate everything
Not only have they helped me on automotive stuff, but I've also worked for them in the past, making it roughly 3-4 years that I've known these guys, and in that entire time I've yet to have a complaint about these guys. Good people, no matter what side of the counter you're on!
Where to begin this yard is a hidden gem located on the North Side of Hammond! I was assisted by Andrew, and he was more than helpful! I made inquiries about several different parts for my vehicle and he ended up pointing me in the right direction! If they didn't have what I needed he referred me to who could help me! Highly recommended!
Aavoid doing business here at all costs. I bought the wrong part for my car came back 36 days after purchase. I was willing to pay the difference and purchase more parts. As I spent close to $300 in one month also went through construction sites to get here everytime to shop small. The owner came out from the back office looked at the date and refused to work with me. Took my $40 worth of parts. Petty people here.
As a small business owner myself I choose to work with my customers not against them. over $40 come on! That was not worth loosing a customer and get this one star review. I hope you will go the extra mile for your customers in the future and experience the increase of revenue from return customers. I won't come back here.
In response to your comments your own associates recommended this part and confirmed that it will fit, which it didn't. That part is riveted on to the spendl not bolted on your part takes bolts it is the wrong part. Also I didn't run out of your place I was offended by you and your level of service. I left the part there to prove that it's not about the money but the way you treated me with your poor level of service.
Bottom line you have the part back and my money.
I’m so happy I found V & A. The owner is good guy and tow truck driver and front desk dude down to the mechanic were all cool. Plush waiting area and the prices are actually reasonable. Definitely earned my business!!
I actually came here after being misled by Northlake auto recycler. Even though they didn’t have what I was looking for the customer service is what did it for me. Pointed me in the right direction and helped out even when they didn’t have to. Nice and clean with good inventory and prices.

This place is terrible. 0 stars if I could. I needed my truck towed from a
Hammond to Aurora, Il. I called AAA at 0930, they said that these guys would be here at 1050. Almost 12pm V&A calls to tell me that they will be running late, maybe an hour. Another hour goes by, no one shows up so I called AAA. V&A tells them another hour. Finally someone shows up at 1430. 1800, I call my mechanic in Aurora to make sure that he got my vehicle, he tells me that no one showed up yet, it's been 3 1/2 hours since my truck was picked up, it's only an hour drive to Aurora. I called to tow truck driver to see why he isn't there yet, he says oh.. they didn't want me to drive straight there, I did a couple of jump starts and tows along the way. With my vehicle still on your truck, you're still doing jobs while my mechanic is waiting to my vehicle? Anything could have happened. Do NOT use this towing company they are slow and VERY unprofessional!
After scouring the internet looking for a part that is incredibly difficult to find, I managed to locate it here using an online parts database. They were selling it for a reasonable price which included pulling the part and shipping it to GA. Luckily I had the pleasure of working with Fernando throughout the transaction. He contacted me after they pulled the part with concerns that it might not be what I’m looking for; most other salvage yards would have just sold and shipped the wrong part without double checking. Because he did this I was spared a headache, time, and money! After quick and efficient communication they were able to locate and ship the part I needed, saving me a TON by not having to buy a new OEM replacement. If you’re looking for replacement parts and don’t want to overpay, I highly recommend checking here first to see if they have what you need!
Called and stated that I needed two sonic headlights. The rep confirmed that they had it and even stated what i asked for. My husband then called and confirmed. Arrived only to be provided with taillights then the guy lied and said that I ordered them. This was confirmed not once but three times. Wasted our time driving 30 minutes to be told that the price for the headlights were $60 more. I can buy new lights for the same lights. Will not patronize here bc they do not listen.
Very nice and informative staff. They got me the wheels off the car in about 30 minutes with other customers ahead of me. I was so grateful. I didn’t give 5 stars because they did not tell me one of the wheels had a few scratches. I had to find out in person. But they gave me a great deal and I am satisfied!
My truck broke down on our trip to a Cubs game about halfway between LaPorte IN and Chicago. AAA couldn't find anyone willing to two the truck back home for me because I wasn't with the truck since I still went to the game. V and A volunteered to get the truck at 11pm and the driver was amazing. He found my truck even though AAA gave him the wrong location, he took extra care because the truck is a 4x4, and he was able to get it in my driveway on our narrow street. He did all of that when I was on the train home from Chicago so the truck was waiting for me when I made it home. Best experience with a towing company I have ever had. Will use them for any future towing needs. Thanks guys! Amazing work!
I paid for a rear end differential for a 1997 Ford E350 ClubWagon passenger van and they said they would have it delivered to me by the end of the day. They never did. Then i called on Saturday the next day around 9:00 am and they said they would call me back and it would be delivered that day. When i called 4 hours later no one answered the phone. I don't know if it was because they left early for the Labor day weekend or what. I am going up their to pick it up in person now.The good part of it at least is that i got the part for a reasonable price compared to what it would be on average so i give them credit for that. When i went to pick it up in person they explained what had happened and the reason why they couldn't which was very understandable. So they gave the part to me right away and did exactly what they were supposed to do. I am now satisfied and decide to give i a 4 star rating. If it had been delivered it would of been 5 starts but 4 is good to. Thank you guys so much.
This place is bad business beware of how they do things victor is full of lies. Waited almost a week for a part he said would take a day when the part got there it look suspect ask if I was able to get my money back if I couldn't use the part. Was told no problem by victor. Mechanic look at part said its complete garbage took the part back waited for a phone call never received one called up ther thursday to whats the delay on my money back he tells me we switch parts no money back but he can offer store credit. Who offers any credit if the part that was brought back was not in original condition. If could give no stars I would
The tow truck driver, Matt, was very helpful and knowledgeable in regards to my newly purchased Prius Hybrid. He took his time showing me how I can jump start my vehicle in the future by myself with my battery jumper, if needed as I shared with him my lack of knowledge with the newer vehicles. He gave me V & A Towing business card and let me know if there was any other problems not to hesitate to contact him. Matt, thank you for making my day better with your kindness, patience and understanding. If I ever have any other problems I hope that someone like Matt is my savior!
Spoke with Victor by phone to order a part and have it shipped. I kept monitoring my card online to see if it was ever charged. Never. I called every couple days to see if they were making any progress. Was repeatedly told "it will ship tomorrow" or "I will call you back". Neither ever happened. This went on for a week and a half. Very lackadaisical and unprofessional yard.
This has got to be by far the most ignorant ,disrespectful group of men I have ever encountered. the guys outside are o.k but the guys in the office need a lesson in mannerism. They must think that they are gods gift to women, talking about girls. The owner is a self absorb man that its ridiculous. Never will I step foot in this place.
The are very professional and fast...and inexpensive I got a new door put on my Honda santafe for half of the cost of the cost of just the door for ever body else.
