Paid to have a replacement transmission installed in my 2007 Grand Prix. It had a 3 year warranty and the transmission failed a couple months out of warranty. I paid to have another replacement transmission installed and this one failed with 16,000 miles but it was covered under the warranty so a third transmission was installed. This transmission failed after 6 months with 3,500 miles on it and I’m being denied warranty coverage as they say the warranty expired 3 months ago. Extremely disappointed and angry. I have paid for 2 transmissions and 1 was replaced under warranty and the result is I have an undrivable vehicle. I also had a replacement transmission installed in my 14 Silverado by Brooks and I just can’t wait for that to fail soon. Might not be completely their fault but they are the face that the transmissions are sold by and I’ve paid for 3 transmissions there and the best they can do as far as helping me out is wave the $200 shipping cost of another transmission. I’d have to be some kind of idiot to continue with this lunacy and buy another garbage transmission.

I've taken a few vehicles there multiple times and they treat you like family. They're very friendly and helpful and explain things well. The only downside is it's sometimes hard to get them on the phone.
Solid shop that stands behind product. Reman transmission was delayed by weeks. Scheduled me in the minute it arrived. Had a small issue caused by the reman company and Brooks made it right the same day. A lot of shops would have handled it less professional.
They do top quality work, so they may seem expensive, but they only have to fix it once. Great guys and super competent. They fix the stuff other garages can’t. In full disclosure, I did not have any work done here, they are a customer of mine. But what I said is true nonetheless.
The people at Brooks were right on target when they diagnosed the problem with my Subaru transmission, quoted cost and time it'd take to repair and the final bill was exactly what was quoted (well $11 more because of taxes on parts). But at $1600 - when other shops were spouting estimates of $3,000 or more - for the repair that $11 is minor. Everyone I met and talked to there was nice, pleasant and friendly. Reading through a couple negative posts on here about Brooks makes me wonder if those posts are from a spiteful competitor or an axe-to-grind customer that aren't taking their meds and brings their wrath down on everyone they meet. Brooks gets a big A+ from me (first time customer).
Took my car in for a repair and got it back with broken pieces in an area where their "tech" worked. They accepted responsibility half-heartedly and expected me to pay the balance. I went to another mechanic. Very poor customer service. They can care less about the quality of work and will threaten you through text messages with "action." They do every other "action" besides standing by their work. Buyer beware.
A good local shop. Down to earth no BS customer service. My GMC Envoy had an issue in the drive through lane at Subway in Tremont and Todd drove down and helped me with what turned out to be a broken transmission linkage. I was able to drive to Brooks and they fixed it without having to be put behind anyone.
Another visit with my truck and Ron was able to diagnose the issue with my truck in a split second and we have a plan to address that issue.
It's hard to top genuine good customer service and fair prices.
Took my work vehicle there. They were no help at all. Told me that my transmission needed replaced. Quoted me at 5900 I then told him the car wasn’t even worth that much then he proceeds to ask how much I want to sell it for. Also, asked about my diagnostic charges and he said 230 dollars if I needed a receipt and only 100 dollars if cash and no receipt. Brooks mechanic told me not to take my car out of town as “the gears could let go at anytime” been driving it from Morton to Bloomington daily since. Took car to Midstate Transmission to get a second opinion. Was told that it was just a bad solenoid they charged me 300 dollars and I’ve been back on the road with no issues. Unfortunately I was a first time customer with Brooks and Will not ever be giving them my business…
I would like to give 5 stars for the good work they did on my brakes but they lost all my respect when I got my bill for 3x what I was quoted and had to deal with the extremely rude lady behind the counter. I understand that things happen and it takes extra time and parts but I never got a call about it to let me know what was going on which to me is very unprofessional. And $135/hr labor is outrageous when most other shops in the area are 100 or less. Do not recommend!
I purchased a car from one that works there that said there was nothing wrong with the car. Well I have had the car 4 days it won't start he promised to fix it said he would put it in the shop. Mr Ted Taylor screwd me out of 2500 and refuses to fix the car that has nothing wrong with it. If this is how one person there does business why trust any of them. If he lies why trust any of them. It's a shame how one can ruin a buisness
Ron and company had our truck for over 1 year. They finally after a year told us they couldn’t repair our transmission and would refund us our money. We received our check from them after calling and them not returning our calls and it was less than half of what we paid them. Four transmissions later our truck still was not repaired. Unprofessional, they wouldn’t call us back no integrity business.
Patient, polite, and honest. That's Ron, at Brooks Automotive/Transmissions. Brooks rebuilt the transmission in my Blazer, and I have only good to say about their service. They fix what needs to be fixed and don't try to sell you something you don't need. Thank you, Ron and staff!
Took Ron my 2013 Subaru legacy got a reasonable Price on the transmission bought it and got it in fairly quickly I will review or I would recommend Ron see anybody they needed any kind of car work specially transmission if You can see my post Ron I appreciate everything you did thanks
I hardly ever write reviews but I have to give Ron two thumbs up. Ron was so helpful and professional with my transmission needs. His price was fair overall and he goes out of his way to make it right. It was so nice to deal with such a wonderful businessman that truly cares about his customers.
This is a very busy shop. Due to COVID-19 and stimulus checks. There is a wait for vehicle repair. Be prepared for this. They are backed up with repairs.
My sons automatic transmission went out on his Ford F350 Powerstroke Diesel. Brooks took it out, rebuilt it, and had it put back in, in no time. The trans shifts solid, and the truck pulls perfect. The price was definitely reasonable for the amount of work involved. I highly recommend going to Brooks for all your transmission needs
Really happy with these guys. I hadn't lived in the area for a decade and didn't have a good contact for a trustworthy shop. After taking some recommendations from people I trusted I made several calls to shops in the greater Peoria area. Those shops either were busy in the moment or didn't do the type of work I needed. My Ram needed some work that involved the transmission and that is one of the things I really REALLY don't want to tackle on my own but am nervous about having a shop who might try to do a rebuild on something that doesn't need it. Another shop I called in Morton that came with great recommendations was far too busy and I needed my truck back sooner than a month. When I asked the shop owner who he would take his truck to if he had to, he said, "I would call Brooks over there in Tremont. Those guys are solid and do great work on transmissions." I'm glad I did. They were easy to communicate with, under promised and over delivered as far as timeline and didn't over charge me for work I didn't need. I will not hesitate to call them for anything else in the future knowing they aren't in the business of taking advantage of people.

Best transmission guy around, the guys at Brooks have built several transmissions for me and I have never had a problem. Price is always fair, quality is top notch, and turn around time is excellent. The owner is very knowledgeable and always willing to answer a question. I would recommend them to anyone.
The owner was very polite answered all my questions and he got my car done on the day after thanksgiving just in time. Only reason Why I didnt leave a five star because this was my first time going there.
Double charged me on parts and labor than most shops $90 a hr most charge 45 hr charge me $269 on a $140 part beware he upcharges on parts and labor had a ignition module change spark plugs and freon $800 bill ripoff people of tremont be leary of this shop told them what other shops would of charged lady said i should ve went there after they took my money
