The place says everything you need they also have stuff online in case they don't have it in the store. The people in the store are awesome and very helpful can't ask anymore

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great experience overall! From the very beginning, everything felt smooth and well organized. The staff was friendly, professional, and clearly cared about doing a good job. The atmosphere was calm and comfortable, with attention to details that really mattered. You can tell they take pride in their work. I left with only positive impressions and would gladly come back again. Highly recommend ??

I can here for a 5gal bucket last week. I'm used to Lowe's having bucket stacks everywhere, so i walked around for a bit looking for buckets, finally found a worker near the middle. (Im pretty sure they were right next to, or in, the bucket isle too.) They said to go to paint and pointed to the back right corner. There was no paint there, its in the back left corner. Finally paint was very helpful and knew all the buckets, and they had some but not 5gal buckets. Told me those buckets were in isle 5(?), which was correct. I definitely got my steps in, but just disappointed the first guy pointed me astray, and was practically working that isle. Maybe he's new but I knew my department's products in retail. The bucket is fine, i think it was $4 plus tax

Charlie, the front end, weekend manager needs to be retrained. Until such time he has an adjustment in customer service he should not be a manager. An item rang up wrong and I got the tag off the self to help the cashier. I then showed the tag to Charlie. He said he could not accept the tag because I could have tampered with the tag. He said it was customary that customers do not touch the tags. Charlie, you made that up. No other store has that policy. For it to be customary other stores need to do it too. You also accused me of price tampering, which was very rude. It was the stors printed tag with an UPC number on it. That should have been enough evidence. There is a basic level of customer service that should be provided and the Washington Menards has fallen short of adequate service. Menards team, I see you are the people who responds to complaints here. Please post the stores policy on how the store is to handle items that do not ring up correctly. Also would like a written apology from Charlie with an improvement plan. From interactions with other people I am not the first person to complain about him. Please have written apology at the front desk by 11/22/2025. If you are going to put an email address for someone to contact please put the district manager's email because the store manager has not handled Charlie's issues properly. Also please put the Menards teams phone number in the response too. Updated 12/18/25. The Menards team commented on a review that was posted on 12/16/25 and ignored on my post. Shame on the menards team. Even on the corporate level the customer service is lacking and needs to be improved.

When I moved from Peoria to Washington State I often mentioned how much I missed Menards. I won't now that I've returned for a couple weeks to help my son. Their competitive prices as listed on their website is based on their 11% rebate on everything... A rebate that has to be mailed in. What a bother. I'll go to Lowe's or even ace from now and on while in the Midwest.

Husband asked where an item was located, the "helper" pointed to an outside building and when asked again said the second one where we keep metal items. After finding it himself and going to checkout he overheard someone mention there were 3-4 employees standing around doing nothing at the end of the checkout area, the one and only checker said it didn't surprise him.

Went to Menards to get some screws, and a few other things and a piece of 1/2 inch plywood 40x24. All they had were 47x24, not one piece of 40x24 in the whole place. So I asked an employee if they could cut 7 inches off one end, and they said they had a saw out back I could use to do it. Then he said I have to pay first, so I did. Then I walk all the way to the outside of the back of the building, and find out the saw they have will not cut it. So I ask an older man in the back if they can cut 7 inches off for me, and he said no. So I already paid for it, and now I am wondering how a billion dollar company does not have a piece of plywood 40x24, and how they can not cut 7 inches off a piece of plywood. I had to buy a hand saw, so I could take it home and cut it myself, and that cost me another $11.00. When I was looking for a mending brace, I asked a lady there where they were, and she had no idea, so she went to find out, then I walked about 30 feet down the isle, and they were right there, so she was 30 feet from them and she had no clue where they were. By the time she came back, I had already found them. So their employees are clueless, they do not know where anything is, they tell you that you can cut a piece of wood, but only after you buy it, then you do, and then you find out you can not cut it there, and you have to buy a saw to do it yourself. And I am sure if I had went to Ace hardware they would have got everything for me, and cut the wood if needed, so Menards is lacking in assistance, and not good, so I will not be going back any time soon. Next time I will go to Home Depot, or Ace Hardware.

I enjoy shopping at Menards, mainly the Washington location. The store is always so clean and well lit. I frequent the lumber department, hardware, and the electrical department typically and always have a good experience in those areas. Keep up the great work.

We recently did a home renovation (and still working on parts of it), but this Menards has been our go to. Their prices is better then anyone’s and you can beat the rebate. All the employees are helpful in store too, although we know our way around there now.

Went to purchase a receptacle to realize the price was double then what was on the shelf, went back to verify and told the associate in the aisle they verified that quite a few items were mislabeled. Then the associate walked to the manager that was nearby made them aware of the situation and the manager shrugged, so I guess it's not really a big deal to leadership.. be careful when you buy things especially in the electrical aisle because it might be mislabeled perhaps, one day they'll get a manager that will see the importance of correctly labeling items.

My husband and I normally go to the Menards in Normal IL as it is a closer drive for us. We went Tuesday morning to go get some 4ft wood fence posts from Menards in Normal. They didn’t have any. Which was fine. They are hard to come by. My husband called the Menards in Washington because it was going to be our next closest place and asked if they had any 4ft wood fence posts we could come get and if there was anyway they could hold about 210 of them for us until we got there. We told them it was going to be a 40 minute drive but that we were heading that way right then. We get to Menards in Washington and immediately head back to the counter to buy the fence posts. We get back there and I assume he was a manager, told us “Just so you know we don’t hold things, if someone would’ve came in here and wanted to buy all of them I wouldn’t of told him no”. Ok. That’s fine. I get it. BUT why wouldn’t you have just asked us to pay over the phone and hold them until we get there? We drove 40 minutes for them. Maybe a little courtesy as we had just spent $400 on posts. We then asked where the lumber yard was as we haven’t ever been to this Menards and he points and says “over there”. No directions or anything so my husband and I had to figure out how to get to the lumber yard. We just felt like an inconvenience to the staff. Lady at the lumber yard gate was nice. We got the posts and our fence put up but still rude the way the guy came off. Don’t think we will be back to this Menards.

Menards is always a great experience. Clean with clearly marked competitive pricing. This one is set up similar to Allen Rd Menards making it easy for me to find things.

Staff is rude and seem inconvenienced to have to do their job. We needed assistance with some heavy items, and the young man had such a nasty attitude and demeanor while helping us. We are the only Black people I have seen shopping here, so it seems we aren’t welcomed. Unfortunate to see this happening in 2025.

Purchased well over $600 total with two separate transactions back to back this afternoon. My family (kids included) were standing next to me at the check out line when my second card failed to go through (turns out there was a hold on this card from the card company wanting to make sure it was me purchasing) and while the money transferred to my spouses account from mine, CHARLIE, your employee, stood infront of my children, spouse, and other customers and said out loud to everyone “this is why we don’t get big purchases ready until we know that they even have the money to pay for it to begin with” (I purchased new flooring to give you an idea). I know I am not the first person in a check out line to have an issue with a debit card and taking an extra 3-5 minutes to check out at a store, so I am completely shocked that an employee would speak about my money situation at all in front of my children or other customers in a situation like this. I’ve been in customer service for years and there is no justification for speaking about a paying customer this way who had no control over the situation at hand. My family stopped going there years ago and chose to go to lowes for this very reason and I see why now. It doesn’t matter how good your quality is if you can’t even respect a paying customer in your store.

Good selection of Christmas light. Was a little busy at the lines, and they quickly opened up more lines, thats some good customer service right there. The place was clean and organized. Also, the bathrooms were clean as well. Stalls and around the sinks were nice and tidy. As far as the staff, everyone we came into contact with were not rude. However, we had several associates who passed by, and not one asked if we were ok and finding everything we needed or what we were looking for. So this would be my only "complaint" about our visit. Other than that, all was good with this visit.

No one wanted to be easy and help with a propane tank. Asked for propane and was told they had some and someone would be out to fill it up and give it to us, no one was and we had to go back in and they wouldn’t go pick it up. They instead gave us a refund and we went back and got it, was charged for the fill-up and went on. Don't know why nobody wants to do work anymore especially when all you have to do is put it in a cart for easier transport and then hand it over to the purchaser.

Terrible. Chairs came on sale today. Not sure if they ever had any. Ad did not say while they last, No rain checks available. One wobbly one in store. I think this is bait and switch and is illegal.Better Business Bureau.

The workers are very rude in the lumber yard. The lumber in the lumber yard is absolutely bottom line!! The guys who work the paint line could absolutely careless about doing a proper job. Nonetheless— I will now avoid buying any paint, or materials here.

You guys really gotta do better in your lumberyard in the evenings. Could not find a soul to help me find anything, and 15 minutes looking for someone. The gal at the gate couldn't be bothered to radio anyone. The crew spends more time hiding on their fork trucks than actually helping customers. You gotta do better.

I am a frequent Menards shopper from Springfield Illinois, In fact I spend hundreds of thousands of dollars here at Menards. (Look it up Menards) no kidding. I have been to the Washington Menards three times in the last 2 weeks and a few times last summer for projects outside of Springfield. I am honestly appalled at the lack of help, downright rude employees including the management team from last summer as well as the sever lack of interest helping anyone in the yard and rude employees everywhere inside the store this summer. It’s obvious to me that leadership inside this store is lacking and your employees show it. I am Surprised this particular store is still open. Legit. Having multiple experiences that are consistently bad if not terrible, to a guy who is very easy going, is really saying something. I could go on and on and give specific examples but honestly, Skip this store if you can elect to find another. Clearly the management team needs better training and or a complete overhaul. This Menards is one of my favorite to go to. It is HUGE and the workers are literally so kind. I’ve gone on a few different occasions and they literally are always sweet and ready to help. They have a huge variety and seem to always have what I want in stock.

Don't buy lumber here, it's junk!!!!! Bought 5,000 - 6,000 dollars worth of lumber to build about 600 feet of privacy fence. A year and a half later and all of the treated 2x4s are warped and twisted. Not one fence panel is straight. If you look down my fence it's bowed in and out all the way down. It looks absolutely horrible!!!!! $5,000 plus worth of material that needs to be ripped out after a year and a half!!!!! And about 3-4 weeks of my work down the drain. Between my labor and the cost of material, I'm out around $10,000. I may be talking to a lawyer soon. My neighbors 15 year old privacy fence is still straight. I guess they cared about treating lumber properly back then. Don't buy Menards lumber unless you want to do your job all over again.

If I could give negative stars I would. Both my husband and I are very frequent Menards shoppers and what we experienced today was absolutely horrific. First we asked a gentleman in electrical for help (in plain as day English language) and the associate decided to answer in Spanish? We never spoke a word of Spanish anywhere inside the store! Where did that come from? Then my husband proceeded to answer him with the reply of, “I can answer in both Spanish or English sir, but then the gentleman pointed us in the direction of two other men standing at a desk near the lamps. That was a very very strange interaction. And then the next two associates were standing there looking at us like we’re dumb for asking them if they have a certain item. Then we decide to go check out with our 5-6 items and we check out in front of customer service by the registers. Everything was good. We get checked out and remembered that we have a couple of online items to pick up from there so we ask customer service ( 2-4 people standing there) where do we pick up the items? One very young associate just points to the back of the store and said “back of the store” and nothing else. How rude. He kept pointing until we decided to just run to the back of the store (from starting inside the store from customer service, because they said back of the store, and then we passed the registers up and then within seconds we realized that we can just go to the outside yard to pick up the items in our truck, so we turned around and went to leave the store to go to the yard. We get stopped at the door. Asking for our receipt for the items in the back but we explained that we didn’t make it to the back of the store we were just going to go pick it up from the “pick up” location outside and then thereafter began to question what was in our cart when they were watching us get checked out and we went to customer service right after we checked out with the cashier. He points at the merchandise in our cart. I replied, it’s the stuff we just bought. What else? Then my husband said, you guys just saw us 15 seconds ago. I guess one of the older female cashiers saw us go back into the store and we didn’t check out with anyone. We checked out with a younger female. I have no problem showing my receipt by any means. I am a patient person. But the level of racism that we were apart of is down right embarrassing. To have employees like that is disgusting. I am a half white-half Mexican female. Get better employees. I just moved here but whoever I meet or whoever mentions this store I will tell them to ABSOLUTELY NOT SHOP HERE! DO BETTER!!

I've had 2 bad experiences over the last 8 months with this store. One was with the guy who delivers lumber for menards and one was with some guy in building materials. The latest one involved me calling to ask about placing an online order. While I was explaining the situation, the employee rudely interrupts and asked if I was going to let him finish. I said excuse me and asked to speak with his manager. He said he was the manager. So I asked to speak with a higher up manager and he would not tell me who that would be. He kept saying he was the manager. He laid down the phone and walked off. I called back and spoke with the front of store manager and they said they they will look into it. I doubt the first guy I talked to was any kind of manager. Just another example of the bad employee attitude that is becoming more common.

As always they had exactly what I wanted. Did stop and ask a young man who was filling shelves where I could find a certain item....very polite and gave good directions found my item right away. As always the checkout girl very efficient and I did not have to lift my birdseed out of cart.

Menards is always our go-to for Home Improvements, they have the better prices and the best customer service. We recently went to another Home Improvement store and waited 15 minutes for someone to help us. They announced three times on the loudspeaker and still no one came. It was just a reminder that we should be shopping at Menards anyway! Got a great deal on some shingles tonight and the man working the desk was very helpful and informative, we also got to take advantage of the 11% rebate on all purchases!
