Excellent work by this machine shop. I needed to get a 305 Chevy Small Block from a 1989 Chevrolet Caprice bored out, and resurfaced. I disassembled everything except for the valvetrain on the head. Wetzel automotive disassembled, machined, then reassembled the head for me. Within about two weeks, everything was ready for pickup. Wetzel Automotive also did a great job in painting the block. After about a year and half, I finally got the engine back in the car and it runs smooth as butter. I highly recommend this shop and will be taking future work to them.
Highly recommend place to take your vehicle for motor work. Fair on pricing and will talk with you on pricing. Jeff and Kyle are awesome. They will not let you down.
The Wetzels at this shop are great to work with, taking time to field questions and discuss the objective of our build. Their decades of experience, exceptional knowledge, and great attention to detail was invaluable in guiding us through and completing the upgraded engine for our Trans Am. Jeff and his crew are on the ball. Jeff is a very knowledgeable machinist and mechanic. They rebuilt the LS3 6.2 in my GMC pickup. Under the hood was as clean as it came from the factory when they returned it. Runs like a champ.
Where to start on this "outfit"
If you have MONTHS to waste to wait on something to NOT get done this is your place to go ,I took an Oliver tractor head there to be re worked and Jeff just simply could not handle the job,5 months later I just simply went there and picked it up since he could not do the job ,I called every 6 weeks and the excuse was the same "It's in the hot tank and we will get to this week or next week" funny for a head to sit in the hot tank for months it still had rtv on it and this joker had the balls to charge me $50 to pick up my own head ,reason being " All the time he spent on the phone with me" [ 5 minutes tops] I took to a REAL machine shop and had it done and back in 3 weeks ! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT this Dive !

Very good service! They are the very best in the business! I took my 48 Plymouth motor to get rebuilt. Jeff done an excellent job! Completely rebuilt it better than factory. Every step of the way, they kept me updated! I can not say enough about the place! Jeff his wife, there son, just fantastic people. A great place!!!
Bent valves in my Polaris. They checked my head and found it to be bad. Before they called me with the bad news they had found me one on the internet that I could order. They went through it and got it good to go on really short notice so I could get it running before the weekend. Awesome guys and they did great work on my stuff. I will use them again and reccomend them to my friends
Expectations: stand behind your work, return calls, repair reported problem, hear out customers concerns, don’t tell someone who spent nearly 1/3 of his yearly income at your shop “we’re done” when they express concerns calmly and with an open mind. Don’t compare a vehicle that transports living people to a salad without chicken. Expectations not met. I considered you friends. I did not want to do this but at least I gave you the chance face to face. Now we are done.
Don’t not ever go to this place this place does not ever fix cars they will rip you off my friends and us paid them $15,000 just for it to sit there look at the bolts and gave up, the did refund us the money but I am not happy with service we received.
The day before I was heading out on a big trip, I suddenly needed a lot of maintenance done on my car. I was able to take it over, explain the situation, and get everything resolved in less than 24 hours. It was spur of the moment and these folks helped me out quite a bit. It's been a few years, but as long as you see the name Wetzel on the business - you know it's the right folks.
Worst service ever! I dropped off my daughter's car because it had a coolant leak. The lady at the desk said they would look at it and call me back. They never called and 3 days later I called them to see what was going on. She said that they were just about to call me. She said the freeze plugs were rusted and need to be replaced for 500 hundred dollars! I questioned her about the cost for replacing the freeze plugs and she replied that if I dont like it I can come up there and pick up the vehicle and fix it myself, then hung up on me. She called me back to apologize 5 minutes later but I had enough and didn't except her apology. I went up there to pick up my daughters vehicle and she charged me 42 dollars for looking at it. If you want good service and be treated with respect I would not go to Wetzel Automotive. I hope this helps your decision on where to take your vehicle. I dont want this to happen to anyone else.
This repair shop services prepaid warranty contracts. It's 30 miles from my home & was the closest location that would accept the repair I needed to my electric windows on my Pontiac Montana. Dropped off the van on 23rd of December they had it fixed by January 30 the next year. Their coordinator of warranty contracts only responded if the contracting company notified them that payment was approved. It spent a lot of time setting with no one but me concerned about the delay. It works now and I am glad the warranty contract expired, renewal was not recommended.
