Made an oopsie and was in a pinch. We just moved to Troy and this shop was a mile away from our house so I limped it in.
Kind of a blessing in disguise. I found a shop I trust and will be taking our family vehicles to when we need service done. Tom the owner and the tech Jason were fantastic. They could’ve been grumpy fixing my mess up but were actually really understanding and nice. Fair pricing for the mess I helped create in their shop and the labor fixing my mess up. We will be back. Don’t hesitate coming here. These are just good people running an honest business.
In my opinion it’s becoming more rare to find a gem like this.
Have seen Tom a couple of times to work on my Land Rover, which is no longer under warranty. He has always been fair, honest and has helped me stick to my budget, not trying to upsell me things that I don’t need done ‘right now’. We also live near his shop and drive by several times a day, often seeing him at the shop early mornings or late evenings to get work done for his customers. You will not find better service, communication and honestly when it comes to auto repair shops! Thank you Tom and team!
Tom owns Troy auto care and is a home town mechanic that knows his customers like the old days. He calls me by name amongst many of his other customers. His work is timely and good

Tom, the owner, is a phenomenal guy. He truly cares about his clients. I’ve had several great experiences bringing cars to Tom and his crew. Definitely less expensive than the big chains, he does better work and usually faster. The last place I went to would keep my vehicle in an entire week.He diagnosis the problem in fixing it without adding 10 things you don’t need. We are lucky to have him here in Troy.
If you’re looking for a mechanic, you don’t have to look anymore. This shop will take care of you without risk of upsell or unnecessary work. I had been looking around for a while and brought my car in and was beyond satisfied. Electrical issue was identified and fixed without them trying to sell me a new battery and/or alternator. Prices they quoted were very reasonable. It’s great to have someone you can trust right in town. All auto work I need done will now be coming through here!
Great customer service from the owner. He did everything in his power to help which I appreciate. However after 1000$ I have check engine lights caused likely from too much air getting into engine and can’t start my car. They replaced the head gasket and plate on my 2010 Honda odyssey and did a great job. However the positive terminal metal connection was broken and shorting out the battery. Also there was a crack in the intake hose. I will likely have to get a new starter cable if I cannot find the crimp connection. And buy a new intake hose.
I was having trouble with my car and everywhere else in the area wanted to charge me an arm and a leg and couldn’t get me in for a week. Dropped into Troy Car Care to get a quote and possibly some help. They fixed my car in under two hours and even checked my battery for me. Kind people, great service, and unbeatable prices! I would recommend this mechanic shop to anybody in the area. I drive from STL to get work done from them. They’re great!
Awesome service. Great price. Had car issues while traveling through the state from Wisconsin. They got us in and taken care of immediately. 5 stars even though they are Bears fans ? ?.
The owner Tom was amazing, he helped my son and I when his SUV broke down. Tom and one of his employees spent about half an hour to diagnose what was wrong. He didn't change us a dime, what awesome thing to do for someone he had never seen. If anyone in the Troy/ Maryville area needs a honest, caring place for your car needs, check them out!
Tom the owner of this Troy Car Care helped Son and myself after my Son's SUV broke after leaving the Hospital. Tom and one of the his workers diagnosed the engine, he went above and beyond helping us. After telling us it wasn't drivable, he shook my hand, didn't ask for a dime. I bought a full seit of tires here last fall. Last week on a road trip with my grandson, a tire went flat. Limped into a dealership that put a used tire on for me. Today, Troy Car Care put a matching new one on, and I didn’t pay a penny! How refreshing to have someone stand behind their product. I will definitely return!

I followed Tom the owner from his former employer when he opened up Troy Car Care. Tom and his wife have repeatedly helped me get my car back on the road and don't nickel and dime you on services. Pricing is fair, thr work is solid. I am blessed to have a local mechanic I trust.
I support small businesses whenever I can. I chose Troy Car Care because of the reviews. I called asking for a price for oil change and tire rotation for a 2023 Telluride. I talked to Christina and even mentioned that it takes 7 quarts of synthetic oil (instead of 5), and she confirmed that fact. She quoted me about $80 plus tax. This was about $10 less than the chain place I had been going, so I took my Telluride there this morning. When I went to pick it up, Tom said it would be $127 plus tax. I asked how he got to that number and he said there is an upcharge for the extra synthetic. I told him my conversation with Christina, and he said "well, she should know that $80 only covers 5 quarts". He said that they "are a small business and can't compete with the big chains". I was stunned. I told him I had no problems in paying a little more to support small businesses, but this was 58% higher than what I was quoted. He would not budge, so I am writing this review in the hopes of saving others the pain of dealing with shady tactics.

My BMW had a coolant leak and it could not be seen easily around the engine bay. Tom and co took my car in for awhile and found the issue with the oil filter housing. Got that replaced and all-in-all it was a bit expensive, but it is all good now. Friendly group and provided updates regularly, good work! Recommend them!
This was an amazing shop that took fantastic care of us. We stopped in during a cross-country journey and had just blown a spark plug 4 miles from their shop. It was 1 hour before closing, but they identified the issue and had replacement parts there within 20 minutes. They even stayed past closing to make sure that we were all set to keep traveling. Tom and Jason were so great and did an incredibly thorough job to make sure that we were fine to keep driving. If we lived near this shop, I would definitely trust them to take care of my car again. Wish we had a shop like this and mechanics like Tom and Jason in my hometown!

Got an oil change here in Jan 2025. Hours later, my engine failed — turns out they didn’t reinstall the oil ring or cap, and all the oil leaked out.
The owner, Tom, dragged out repairs for over 3 months, blamed everything but the real issue, and tried to avoid going through his insurance. He even told me to lie to Mitsubishi about a recall to avoid fixing the damage.
A Car-X location has confirmed my vehicle was unsafe to drive and documented serious damage (axle throwing grease, burned mount hole, etc.). I also have additional findings from a Transmission repair shop.
I chose Troy Car Care based on a Groupon and the Napa Car Care Center sign on their site, but Napa told me they’ve had no affiliation since 2022 — totally misleading.
I'm filing a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General. Save yourself the stress — go somewhere reputable.
Kind folks. Quick work and honest. Had to go back and they corrected a separate issue no charge. Will be going back for service and other issues in the future.
We were on the road and our car overheated - Tom took great care of us, charged us reasonably, and had us back on the road in 2.5 hours. Can’t beat that!
These folks are amazing! I’m new in town and was looking for a new place to care for my car. Great experience today for my first regular cycle maintenance. The owners Tom & Christina were super friendly and welcoming and the team offered a full service check up, oil change & tire rotation while I waited. Price was very reasonable and there was no upselling. It’s reassuring to know there’s a car care option like theirs in Troy.
I have had a fantastic experience with Troy Car Care. Having worked in a repair industry myself, I could tell that I was getting honest input on the issues with my car (which were many). They never pressured me to buy something I didn't want, nor did they sugar coat the issues.
Finding a trustworthy automotive shop is hard because there is always a lot of money involved, TCC was fair and didn't waste my time.

Tom knows his stuff and he cares about his customers. We have had a lot of major automotive issues lately that he has been very gracious in helping us navigate. He has done anything that he can to make sure that the process is as painless as possible. This is very important when dealing with frustrating issues like vehicles breaking down! Tom is highly recommended! He does not try to upsell you on things you do not need like the chain shops out there!
