I have used many scrap companies across the country just due to the work I do (demolition, rigging and millwright). This company has by far been one of the best scrap companies I have ever worked with. They have a variety of bins and trailers, they’re honest and quick, and the prices they give are competitive. I had a large demolition project I was running in the Chicago area and they helped make the scrap process a breeze. Their logistical support on large projects is next level with step deck trailers, oversized trucks, flatbeds, and gondola trailers combined with extremely flexible scheduling. They provide excellent reports on all scrap and overall I was extremely satisfied. 10/10 I would highly recommend Elgin Recycling for all of your scrap needs.
If you ever find yourself in need of handling significant projects, I would STRONGLY advise against considering this recycling company.
I reached out to Elgin recycling on Friday, 1/26. involving the disposal of 2,000 LED electronic doors for a project. I reached out through their website to request pricing since that was the only way to request a quote. Mike Alandy, a 14-year "inside buyer" for Elgin Recycler, responded within 24 hours.(the only bright-side)
Mike proceeded to ask a series of 12 questions, some of which seemed redundant, but I still provided him with the requested information. Despite my detailed explanation that these 2,000 doors were currently in use, and my client was in the process of evaluating pricing for a potential swap-out, Mike was unable to assist because he insisted on having a physical sample of the product.
In my communication, I had provided the dimensions, weight, material composition of the doors, and even shared a PDF detailing the doors we were looking to dispose of. One would expect that a seasoned veteran with 14 years of experience would have more insight and be better equipped to provide alternative solutions in situations where obtaining a physical sample is not feasible.

Would not use this place. Quote one price on phone then lower price once you are there. I kept my metal and left previous negative reviews are true about this place. RIPOFF ARTISTS!!!!!!
Very bad place con artist and Thief. All scrappers you do this for a living some of you even collect metal all day long to get enough money. Don't take it to this place they will rob you. I was quoted $0.04 on aluminum and $0.03 on Steel when on the phone they told me $0.30 on aluminum when I got there he tells me my aluminum has oil and dirt on it and they gotta pay me $0.04 a pound. I took the same material to another Scrapper got $0.35 a pound no trouble at all. Honestly take you take your Collective scrap somewhere else not to this place not to any of the Elgin recyclers.
