An uncomfortable encounter with one of guys in the lot made this incident so much worse than needed. There was a nice older man who helped me get my car out. But the 2 young guys in the lot ignored me to let me out and another yelled at me from across the lot. Having workers who harass patrons cause for hostile encounters. Spoke with Larry who was dismissive.
Really awful company, stay away and be aware! My elderly mom got into an accident and Glenview police subcontracts with Genes for towing. We came to pick up a car less than 4 hrs later. The fee that is documented is $185 but they charged us $385! Completely bogus surcharges! They charged extra $100 because the keys were not in the car. My mom stayed there the whole time and was right next to the car while it was being towed but no one asked her for the keys! Then extra $50 for material disposal? No parts fell off the car, what disposal? Just be aware!!!
Just got my car towed due to parking where I shouldn’t have. My mistake. Paid 350. Credit cards are not allowed. Witnessed a fun interaction, I understand people might not Be fans of tow companies but respect goes both ways.
This company is an absolute nightmare. They flat-out LIED about the price. I was quoted one amount when the driver showed up and the next morning I showed up to pick my vehicle , the price mysteriously shot up with zero justification. It’s clear they rely on bait-and-switch tactics to squeeze more money out of people when they’re stuck and vulnerable. Totally unprofessional, totally dishonest. I will never use them again, and I strongly warn anyone considering them to look elsewhere. They do NOT deserve your business.
I got locked out of my car while i was at the gym, called the northbrook non-emergency number and a very nice operator transferred me to a tow truck driver. I told him my issue and he immediately asked the model I had and quoted me $75 for it. He told me that he would come in about 10-15 minutes which he did! When he arrived he was really chill and got to work immediately getting it done in within minutes! Very straight forward to say the least! I really do appreciate the work he did and how speedy he was compared to other locksmiths I called where they quoted me outrageous prices for there services such as $160 for a job that could be done in within minutes and they would take from 30 to and hour to get to my location. So if you ever get locked out of your car, i would recommend this place. Thanks Joey!
They should really add a zero star option. They don't tell you anywhere they don't accept any other form of payment except cash. I made my visit less than 24 hours later than when my car was towed, and they would not drop the extra $100/day fee
The staff at Gene's is entirely accomodating and incredibly efficient at what they do. I will never take my car anywhere else for work nor will I ever let anybody else tow it for me. Highly recommended for us locals especially. Thank you, Gene's!
I forgot the name of the driver. But he was an older gentleman and he did everything he could to help me out and take care of my car. It was really amazing how friendly and helpful he was. Thank you

I believe everyone deserves redemption.Boy let me tell you something the person who came and helped me was the sweetest but the devil in disguise. First off I called for a flat bed because it was an all wheel drive vehicle. They did not want to get another vehicle because I would be paying for more fees and more gas for the driver. Even though I specified I needed a flat bed. So i simply played the fool and listen to that person. As they rigged the car up and watched them pull away I could not believe my eyes. One of my wheels done fell off and was running faster then the Daytona 500. The man did not even flinch. As I was behind him honking away to tell him to stop and get my wheel. The person just told me it will be a fee to stop and get the wheel. Good citizens of chicago that is my story with Genes please do be careful and have a safe day yal.
My experience was extremely disappointing due to their exorbitant fees. Not only did they slap me with a steep towing charge, but they also added on numerous unexpected fees that were never mentioned upfront. It felt like a complete rip-off, and I would caution anyone against using them.
I used them for two tows and had absolutely no issues and great customer service by their drivers and dispatchers. They were knowledgeable, careful, and informative about the process. I’d be happy to use them again.
The customer service is absolutely atrocious and disrespectful. If I could give 0 stars I would. The lady at the front is very unprofessional and condescending. There is no need to be so rude. She seems miserable and maybe needs a husband.
Absolute nightmare of workers! All are incredibly disrespectful especially the lady in the front. They know they have your vehicle so you will be treated like garbage. If you don’t treat them like an angel they will tell you “don’t say that unless you want your car back”! They kept my car for an extra week and charged for storage since the car owner was my mom. I went to the DMV and the DMV called for me saying what they did is unjust and demanded for storage fees to be waived which ended up happening. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Very helpful and nice people to work with. We got into an accident and had our car towed here. They gave us some very good advice and helped us with whatever we needed.
The people working here are all class act I happen to have crashed my Subaru Forester and I've been dealing with them for a couple of days and I have had a good experience so far. I get the other reviews are angry because they have to deal with this place out of the blue due to being in an accident but you don't seriously expect to have your car towed and the street cleaned for free.
This man took my car from the street just few minutes past 9:;30am , we have to pay $270 because the village post street Cleening?????
I don’t know why they clean only one street in the area .
He damage the front side of the car , now we have to pay for his Negligence too
