Well where do I start. We recently made an automobile purchase here and since we have gotten the car it has been back to the service dept 4 times and counting. It's going in again due to being returned to us after reporting an issue the service tech denied existing and actually being confirmed by another employee after returning because it was not addressed and the employee that I spoke with actually got in the car car with me and confirmed the grinding noise the tech and other supposed tech that drove around together could not hear. We asked for the car to be taken back or allow us to move into a different vehicle because of the multitude of issues and have been refused. So its going to another mechanic outside of carmax itself for existing issues having been reported and ignored. The staff has been very nice but at this point im questioning the integrity of the dealership and the quality of the vehicle they have sold me. It's sad to know how hard you work for your money to have it stolen from through a transaction where you're told your getting a quality product and in this case it is certainly not true.

My experience at CarMax in Meridian was great! Max greeted me as soon as I walked in and we got to work immediately. The offer I received via email was what I walked out with. Everything was frictionless as possible and I was in and out in under an hour. I highly recommend you choose CarMax first off you’re looking to sell or trade your vehicle.

Overall Carmax was great to work with when selling my car. One thing I dont understand, as I'm sure many others dont as well, is why does it take 10 times longer to sell your car at Carmax. It's essentially the same thing if I sold it privately to a buyer I've never met. Both parties meet up, the buyer agrees to buy, the seller signs over the title, both parties complete release of liability and any other necessary paperwork, buyer hands over payment and boom transaction complete. 15 minute process, 30 at most. At Carmax though, well over an hour if not 2.

I began the process of purchasing a vehicle on 8/21. The car was located at a dealership five hours away, but I was assured it could be transferred to the dealership near me without issue. While I was given a delivery window of 8/25 - 8/30 I was advised that since the vehicle was only 5 hours away it should arrive in 2-3 days. Fast forward to today there is still no vehicle and I wasted ten days waiting for a car that CarMax cannot even confirm will be delivered any time soon. No one reached out to update me, no one explained the delay, and customer service had nothing useful to offer. Only when I called the local dealership myself did I learn the truth: CarMax uses independent shippers who will not move a vehicle until a truck is fully booked, which could take weeks. That should have been made clear up front, not after the fact. Buying a car should not turn into a drawn-out process that drags on for weeks with no communication, no certainty, and no respect for the customer’s time. CarMax failed not just in logistics, but in transparency, accountability, and consideration for me as a customer. Update: as of 9/3/2025 the vehicle has still not shipped and no one from carmax has reached out to me with any infomation. It has been 14 days since I began the purchase process and 5 days since the last estimated delivery date of 8/30/2025 and the car still shows "preparing to ship" like it has since 8/22/2025.

Was interested in a car on the lot and waited an hour and a half to go for a test drive. Just as I got everything filled out to go on the test drive the salesman/manager told me the price is actually $2,400 more than the no haggle price clearly marked on the car sticker. What.. are you kidding me! The price was then updated online. Beware. Update: I reached out to the number in the reply from CarMax. They were super responsive and the manager gave some options. That says a lot about the business. Updated my review from one star to three stars.

These folks are absolute professionals and class when it comes to the car buying and selling process. I did not buy a car from here, but I did test drive a couple vehicles over a few days, and sold my car here. The staff are not pushy, they are extremely helpful, and really seem to care about your experience. One of the cars I test drove had been smoked in, and the CarMax person I worked with was outright giving me reasons not to buy the car. It was a refreshing experience! I didn't buy a car here because ultimately I opted for a brand new vehicle, but I still returned to sell my car to CarMax instead of trade it in to the dealership where I purchased my car, all because the CarMax people were so great to deal with and they gave me a fantastic price on my car. Don't overthink it, come see these people for your car buying and selling needs!

I was impressed with Jaden Keele, the customer service specialist that I worked with at the Meridian store. He was patient, considerate, and handled a difficult situation calmly. I was disappointed with the process of buying and trading a car though. The information that I was given, several times, before coming in to do the final transaction, was totally different than what I was presented with at the time of purchase. I recommend getting everything in writing, and don't believe anything you are told.

We were very disappointed at having to become involved in this process; it should not have occurred. If the person handling our purchase had cooperated with us instead of doing what she wanted, the loan process would have gone smoothly, and we would have been spared much frustration, multiple trips to the dealership, and hours of our time. There was a point where we actually wondered if Carmax was deliberately trying to undermine our purchase. We love our new car, but have zero trust that Carmax representatives are competent to do their job of completing the purchase without creating complications. The next time we purchase a car, I will avoid Carmax.

Devin von Nordheim-Moore was a phenomenal sales rep. He was clear on the process and ensured he explained every step. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The entire process was handled well and was completed fairly quickly. Devin also ensured that he set the Lyft ride quickly, so we did not have to wait long to be picked up. We were extremely satisfied with the sale and price we were offered for our vehicle. We honestly recommend this CarMax location and especially Devin for your next sale. It was so easy to sell my car with CarMax. They gave us a better estimate for our car than Carvana. The staff were very friendly and they made selling a car simple and easy. I would definitely recommend CarMax if you want to sell your car.

I so appreciated the ability to shop for a new car on my schedule, taking as much time as I needed to compare models, wait for the right vehicle, and understand completely what I was buying. I also really appreciate the set price. I think that reduced the stress significantly knowing I wouldn't have to negotiate. I was a little bit disappointed in the trade-in value of my vehicle, but the trade-off was not having to find a buyer. Also, I think they could increase buyers satisfaction if they explained up front how long it was going to take to actually do the paperwork to purchase the new car and sell the trade in.

Smooth and easy, got the car we wanted, price was agreeable. Only downside was the trade in offer. I wound up selling to a different dealership for $1000 more. If they would have actually looked at the condition of the trade, and if they came up $500, I would have given them 5 stars. BTW, had a minor issue with seat trim, brought it in on a Friday at 3:30, the mechanic (who was probably ready to go home) fixed it in about 12 minutes. Perfect.

I purchased a vehicle a few months ago. When I looked the vehicle over, there was a chip in the windshield. I told them I was OK with the chip as long as it had been repaired. They assured me multiple times that it was repaired. Now I have a crack that goes across my windshield where this chip is. I called Carmax and was told a service manager would call me back in a couple minutes. It has been a couple hours. I had planned to buy more vehicles for my fleet with Carmax. I now have second thoughts. ( Update) CarMax looked up my information. They made it right. My windshield was repaired. Went from a 1 star to a 5 I will be back to purchase in the future

Very smooth and easy process. I needed to sell my car quickly so I went online and received a fair quote. Made an appointment and was impressed with how easy everything was. The rep was friendly and explained things every step of the way. I walked out of there with a check for the exact amount I was quoted. Great experience and highly recommend.

Jon deserves high praise for his handling of our sale. We got the car we wanted but felt that CarMax's "No Haggle Pricing" policies left multiple bad tastes in our mouths. Not only do they use that to claim they can't negotiate the price, but they also claim it prevents them from improving upon the quoted loan terms, extended warranty terms, trade in terms, etc. If so, they need to change their policies because they are not in the customer's best interests. And to top it off, when you have a trade in quote and, due to the time it took for the car to arrive from another CarMax location which meant the time limit on the quote had expired, and CarMax seized on the fact that I was now stuck with the transportation costs if I backed out, and they used that factor to drop my trade in quote by 20% and wouldn't negotiate, and they wouldn't accommodate in any other way like give me better tires, etc, well let's say that 3* is probably a very generous review. We decided not to do a trade in with them due to their decreased trade in price (which ended up costing us more in sales tax), but the next day we were able to sell the car to a local Subaru dealer for DOUBLE what CarMax offered us. I've had enough of their No Haggle policies! Again, Jon's great and the facilities are terrific, but their M.O. is not customer friendly.

I've dealt with Carmax in two states maybe a dozen times now. I believe they have sound customer service policy, fair pricing and honest dealing. I've had several price evaluations of used cars, sold them two cars in the past and most recently bought a car from Meridian Idaho Carmax. Trust, quality assurance, satisfaction, promises kept are my descriptive on the experience. The follow-up service has been splendid.

Enjoyed the ability to look at inventory without salesman unless I requested help. The help when requested was pleasant and professional. The actual purchase was taken care of professionally, everything was explained as we went along. Prior to leaving with the car it had an oil change, been detailed, and had a full tank of gas. I'll never buy another used car from a dealer again.

When I looked online for what to expect for the amount of time an appointment would take, I received estimates of up to 2 hours. Mine was completed in approximately 45 minutes and I was very pleased. The customer service was friendly and informative at all times. 100% recommend to anyone wanting to sell their vehicle!

I worked with Joe, and he was so wonderful to work with. He made my car buying experience so easy and wonderful. I ordered my vehicle out of state. He took on the stresses I didn’t need to take on and was transparent through out my buying process. Joe is the kind of sales person that will keep you coming back as a customer. Settled on 3 stars. I would give Rob and Quan 5 stars for their patience and excellent customer service. They went above and beyond to take care of my wife and I as customers and I appreciate them. Overall presentation of the vehicle was a 0 star and we nearly walked when we saw it. It had not been cleaned inside or out and was absolutely disgusting. Took the excitement away of looking at your new car. Hard water damage and pills inside the car. We stuck around and they ended up getting the vehicle as clean as they could and gave a voucher to have it detailed. That made the difference. It looked great after it was cleaned. We had an appointment for a specific vehicle and I would expect it to be as clean as possible when the customer arrives. This same scenario occurred when my family purchased their vehicle here too. Doesn’t show care into the product they are selling. As stated before, customer service wise, Rob and Quan did wonderful, initial presentation of vehicle, atrocious. But CarMax did do their best to make good on the situation and for that I give them credit.

Purchased my first car all on my own here. Love that you can look at cars without being pushed by a salesperson. They aren’t pushy for you to buy. I worked with Rob and can’t say one bad thing about him. He was wonderful, informative and super kind to us. Gave me actual advice instead of just wanting me to buy the vehicle. Helped me ship a car out I liked from another location. I can’t thank him enough. If you’re interested in purchasing a car ask for Rob. He had a trainee with him for the last leg of our appointments, believe his name was Quann. He was also great, all very kind and helpful. Only thing I say is that you can’t ask for a specific person online and when we went to our appointments and asked for Rob, they gave us a tiny bit of a hard time. We told them we only wanted to work with him and they were able to help us though.

1-star isn't low enough. I tried to ship a car in, just to be told that it was reserved by someone else, despite being listed as available. They said that I had $500 of free shipping credit because of the inconvenience, but then that was not honored by CarMax. I moved on to ship another vehicle, but I ended up waiting 45 days for it to be shipped to me, just to receive an e-mail that said the order was cancelled. Even then, I tried shipping another vehicle in, and this one actually showed up! It smelled like a lifelong smoker drove it daily, so I asked that they detail it and try to get that smell out before I would purchase it. They told me it would be detailed, and I called in twice to check up on it, but after two weeks without any communication, I went in to the store to see what was going on. That's when I found out that they shipped the car elsewhere. They offered me $350 in shipping credit, but when I went back to get another vehicle shipped in, they changed it and said $250 was the most they could give for shipping credit. Pair all of that with the confusion of working with a different person everytime I went into the store. It was an absolute waste of 3 months of my life.

I had bought a 2014 Kia from another Carmax out of state vector I moves here. I was impressed with that Carmax and visited the one here when I needed a carmax Kia but they did not have what I was looking for. They were very kind as during the covid time some cars were just not available. If you want a good unedited car come to any Carmax.
