Showed up today (Saturday) close to closing, not only did the guys come right away to my truck so did the Owner. Great place to do business, wish there were more places like this in this day and age!!!
First time scraping metal here in Florida. I had about 50 lbs of aluminum to sell. I was met outside before I got out of my car. The man asked what I had, looked at the material and named the price per pound I was expecting. Overall great experience. This will be where I go If I have any metals to scrape in the future.
Dealing with Howard, the owner and his team FAR EXCEEDED my expectations. Howard communicated thoroughly throughout the process of scheduling to pickup the 20 accordion hurricane shutters i had at my residence. Upon arrival at the residence, Howard and his team were so professional and very careful not to damage anything while carrying, walking each hurricane shutter frame to their parked truck in front of our house. He cleaned up any loose scraps (metal screws) as well. Howard explained after loading the 20 frames onto his truck how the payment process will work. Howard is an excellent communicator. As a result of my dealings with Howard, I highly recommend, without any reservation, American Scrap Metal Company.
Used this scrap yard for copper and the weight was high but got paid more from federal M with less weight. Another scam, almost double the return. Used consumables/ copper and brass…. Let’s see if this rings a bell.
I visited on 9/16/24 and was blown away by the kindness and professionalism of Howard and Bruce. With an electrician at home, we had a LOT of copper wire, and after weeks of stripping, I was at a loss trying to find a good place to take it. I eventually came across this spot on google and was amazed by all the glowing reviews. Having never been to a scrap yard before, I found it a little intimidating, but Howard went above and beyond. He helped me find parking, brought in the boxes of wire, and patiently explained the entire process. I was in and out in about 20 minutes, leaving with cash in hand! I truly wish I could give them more than five stars. Don’t waste your time going anywhere else—this is the place to bring your scrap wire. I can’t wait to go back!

I have been there twice in the past few months dropping off various shutter parts. Bruce has assisted me both times. Both Bruce and his co-worker have been very helpful. Given it's a scrap yard one expects it to be "rough". However they do keep it tidy. The swale where you drop off is broom swept and free of debris. I also feel the prices paid were fair, so no issue there. I recommend Bruce and his team.
Brought my scrap was In & out quick easy no headache was surprised the man with the walker can move that fast jump on the forklift to asset me to unload and cash me out thanks again
I've been going here for a few years now and Howard is great. Always super fair, never an issue. Will definitely continue to pick this place over any other.
Took the same load I got from another job and got from the same job to a different location got three times as much the day after. I should’ve known it was a scam when they sent the crippled out and acted like they were my best friend. They claimed any metal I showed up with was dirty pressured me into just selling it there. I have no idea how they have so many good reviews. It took me forever to unload the truck by myself. Other locations will unload it for you.
Recently came and dropped off some scrap wire. Quick & fast. The wonderful folks working there are awesome to chat with while handling business. Will for sure be returning to drop off more precious metals/wire. Howard is funny as hell too

The best!!! A gem to find a scrap metal shop that allows the public to buy! As artists, they were incredibly helpful and supportive on a big project of ours using scrap plumbing parts.

I called and spoke with Howard and he was very honest about the pricing and how just the pricing of aluminum cans fluctuate day to day. I know this for a fact since I was calling several places the day before and received several prices estimates from other companies from .25 cents to .55 cents and he was at .50 cents s. So I can say they are at the top of the best pricing to go get recycling done. Speak to Howard very honest guy. Howard I hope you got your truck finally cleaned lol
Just have to watch them. If they think your new to scraping metal, they will find tricks to get the upper hand. Don’t let them put the scrap at the top of the scale. The weight should be in the middle of the scale. I should’ve took a picture but it’s all good. I needed the quick cash and didn’t spend any time about positioning, but it does make a difference as the scale is towards the middle. Don’t be bumb like me. Peace

They run a good hustle. 70lbs subtracted from total weighr for an empty pine palet on the scale?!? Are you kidding? Why such good reviews from people? Brought lead scrap here, $0.20 cents per lb. Left it there since I just didn't want to bother.
Howard has been very honest and extremely accommodating in explaining different metals and pricing.
As a female, dropping off items simply to recycle so that it doesn't end up in our landfill, I feel very comfortable and respected each time I have been there. This has encouraged me to reach out to friends and family to help them remove there unwanted items.

We won’t bring our recyclables anyplace else from now on! Based on the positive reviews I read here on Google, my husband I and decided to bring our recyclables to American Scrap Metal today. We were greeted by a nice gentleman named Howard. He was friendly, thorough, helpful, informative and fair with his recycling rates. (I’m pretty sure the gentleman who left only a 1 ⭐ must’ve been at a different recycling facility because we had a totally different experience.)
The guy was rude and underpriced he didn't want to give a receipt and wouldn't explain why he considered a bucket 5 pounds I'll never go here again. I work in the screen business I've been scrapping cages for 10 years.I've never dealt with somebody so unorganized and unprofessional.
