This is the second time this has happened! On a digital kitchen scale I carefully measured out 2lbs of aluminum cans, placed 5 of these (2lb x 5 = 10lbs) into a garbage bag, I accumulated 11 of these bags (10lbs x 11 = 110lbs). Lewis Metals scale said it was only 93lbs. They stole 17lbs from me. They say the normal thing "Your home scale must be off"...I don't think so buddy. Their scales might be State cerified, but their Taring of the metal bin (subtracting metal bin weight from overall weight) or the scale operator is dirty & should be reported to the Florida State Weights & Measurements Department for a sting operation.
Picked up recycling for another plant here. Turn in at entrance after checking in with forklift driver, pull around the big pile in the middle to get empty weight, backed in off of the road at second entrance by office for a mobile ramp, get loaded and go back to scale for weight. Get paperwork.
I am remodeling my building and I take my scrap metal to Lewis. They make it easy to turn your scrap metal into cash. They have plenty of help to take care of you plus they have new machines to take off the scrap from your trailer and they have the guys that sort out the smaller items. Another reason I go there because it is easier to maneuver around the yard unlike the other place.
It seems every time I go to there, they always manage to impress me . I figured that I have a certain amount of scrap metal in price and it's usually more on the pay out than I expected. Thank you and your staff for being so professional and courteous.
Update: Lewis Metals Inc #1 I still stand by my original review. I've been going to Lewis Metals over 20yrs. All of the employees are very friendly & helpful Just sum Good Ol Boys with sum Good Ol Additudes. You never have to worry about them cheating you & I HIGHLY recommend going here to anyone who may need a scrap yard 4 ANY reason. Update:Only thing new can say is try to be there by 4pm even though they close at 4:30 I don't recommend going in that close to closing because things can easily skipped over & you may lose out on some cash. There guys working are all ready to go home & mistakes can be made easily.
All the guys in the yard don't speak English, yelling at everyone. The woman in the officbseemed like she had a chip the size of Texas on her shoulder. When you are done unloading and try to leave, you have to wait to make sure they didn't put a bin for someone behind your vehicle. They are lower prices than elsewhere.
1st, Nobody speaks English here. 2nd the office staff (or lady) is extremely rude and seems like she just hates sitting in the A/C all day. The pay is poor, the environment is poor. You don't expect much from a metal dump but I mean come on...I feel like anywhere I drive a loose piece of metal is gonna hack my tires all up
The man at the scale was very disrespectful. I told him that he had weighed the material and he was offended and threatened to return the things to me, and if it did not suit me, I would go somewhere else.
Do you take 12 volt 7.5 am batteries I am a fire alarm tech an have roughly 140 pds worth of electronic batteries. Also have old fire panels that I have striped down
Tommy was a huge help. He got me weighed and loaded and out with my loaded trailer in under an hour. All employees I met have a great attitude. Will definitely come back. Thanks
Good job on paying me for my scrap ... $5 and change for SS , Alum. , wiring , 3 mother boards , A 1/2 lb chip, 3 power boards and 4 electric motors ... On receipt no mention of anything but #2 copper , elec. Motors , and 42 lbs of unprepared .. BS all else was 100% clean ..
While they are very efficient at getting you in and out, the mexican's there can be very rude at times.
I was preparing to leave when one of them told me to hurry up and go.
There was nobody else waiting to leave and nobody waiting to come in.
Not sure I will return here to do business or tell anyone else to come here either.
There needs to be better quality people in charge.
The guys there are always cool, even out there working in the rain! They try to get you in and out as efficiently as possible. Knowledgeable and friendly!
This is absolutely the best place to take your scrap metal! They run you through fast so you don't take up your whole day, if you're not sure about something ( there are so many different metals) they will answer your questions and make sure you get the correct pay for what you have, they have great, helpful employees. I've seen places where they throw your sorted scrap all together unless you watch them and make sure your credited correctly, and that's too much work. I know I'm gonna get the right pay when I go here.

Well on more than one occasion i caught thier mistakes which naturally was in thier favor. The place is fast and effecient, but like most companies post Micheal they take advantage of people who are already struggling. You have to barter with them everytime just to get the best price that should be set. They actually have a minimum and maximum price set by whoever is operating the scale and then its based on that persons mood or if they like you.. They say thier open for business on the website but thier not. Thanks for wasting my morning.
Found all the employees very helpful. First time ever scraping metal. They walked me through the process. Felt they gave me a good price for my washer and dryer. Place is busy but wait was very short. Would use them again. Being a woman and never done this type of thing. I was very happy with the service.
I USED to go to that other place in town...used to. Night and day difference. Come out and help you unload, they're courteous, and actually appreciate your business and you being there. And to top it all off, pay is better, too.

Friendly folks, quick to unload. But I don't know if the scales there are off or what but I weighed my bags with a luggage scale and they came up 75 lbs short of my numbers... then the girl inside didn't even want to talk to me about the discrepancy in the numbers...

I've been going here for 4 years they are great.you can't beat the service.they unload everything for you and everybody strives to make you happy and everyone is honest with you.lewis metals is the best scrap yard in Panama City.
Oh well I had a flat tire there one day they were right to my aide found a plug and fixed my tire! I love the supervisor he's short but very nice looking and shorttoo!! Lol I took them bottled water and I've gotten some guys like Tito ciggerretts too.. Love my Tito sweet guy! They're just all great crew members..
