Avoid this scam of a company at all costs. They bought Tenleytown trash a few years ago and since then our bill has tripled, service has declined, they have snuck in additional monthly fees, they have changed the terms of our prior contract with Tenleytown reducing the services we used to pay for while somehow still increasing prices. They never communicate, and will just increase prices by 20-25% every year with no warning, reasoning, or communication outside of the bill you receive. In a just world, this company would be forced to cease operating
My community in DC stopped using Republic for trash services because of horrendous service (missed pickups, half completed pickups, leaving behind messes, lack of communication) approximately six months ago. Since that time, Republic has refused to collect the trash and recycling bins from half of our neighborhood. They came at one point, took some of the cans, and never came back. We now have dozens of Republic trash and recycling cans littering our alleyway, and the company will not answer its customer service line or respond to messages. If I could give this company zero stars, I would.
My experience with this trash/recycling company has been extremely frustrating. They consistently fail to pick up on time, often missing entire weeks. This has been a persistent issue for our business right from the start. Despite these ongoing problems, they refuse to let us cancel our contract. We've reached a point where we had to involve a lawyer to address the situation.
I’m a property manager in DC; I have been dealing with poor service, no communication, excuses and lack of accountability with this company for multiple years.
They bought out Tenley Town, which was a good company just to destroy whatever market they created.

If you want to pay for services that are haphazardly managed, trash and recycling pick up that routinely never happens, and poor customer service, this is the place to go. They’ve missed 25% of pickups in the last two months.
This company and its employees constantly leave the alley-way where I live, in shambles. Driving through at high speeds. Dumping trash, leaving a huge mess and then leaving that mess behind. I HAVE ABSOLUTELY HAD IT. THIS IS DISGUSTING And hazardous to anyone's health. I'VE SENT THIS TO THE DC MAYOR'S OFFICE AND LOCAL NEWS STATIONS. POOR SERVICES, UNPROFESSIONAL WORKERS.
Republic Services, particularly our local driver and crew (Ricky and Norman) have continuously gone above and beyond to help out our condo building with our trash and recycling services. We've had many issues in our back alley with illegal dumping from various sources, and Ricky and Norman are understanding and empathetic of this and go out of their way to make sure they come on time and remove all of the waste, particularly when they know it's not ours. We are grateful for their kindness and hard work.
Additionally - the customer service team has always been responsive, helpful, polite, and understanding of all of our unique issues and requirements. Thank you!
