Bonnie and Reid were an absolute delight to deal with. My items were removed from my vehicle before I could come to provide them my title after.
I’m leaving review as they left a bad taste for the brief interaction and have yet to provide me with my request information for the party responsible for delivering my car this can easily be resolved but they are withholding information. Be mindful.
UPDATE. After a wild goose hunt, Reid has blatantly stated he will NOT give me the tow company information and says they are liable to throw anything away, which would be normally fine and chalked up to a loss. This is contradicting the statement over the phone that no one went thru the vehicle. Real shady stuff going on here.
Started going here a few months ago I already bought over 10 cars and all were good love this auction well continue to keep buying here one of the best if not the best public auction really good prices also had sometimes a car that wasn’t listed with a issue but they were very quick to refund my money love this place super easy and great service well keep buying here for a while
I had a terrible experience with Capital Auction. I purchased a car for $3,900, and not long after, I discovered the transmission was no good. When I contacted the staff to discuss the issue, they were extremely rude and unprofessional. They told me the car was only worth $1,200 to begin with, which is shocking considering what I paid. To make matters worse, they offered to run it back through the auction, but would only give me $425 for it—the same car I just bought that was supposedly in good condition. I feel like I was taken advantage of and lost over $3,000. I’m very disappointed in the way I was treated and how they handled the situation.
I have had great luck on buying my cars from this auction. I never had any major issues with my selections of cars. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to purchase a vehicle for an affordable price.

**Avoid This Auction – Dishonest and Rude Management**
I had a terrible experience with Capital Auto Auction. They failed to announce a major engine problem on a vehicle I purchased, which is now costing me over **$3,000** in repairs. When I reached out for arbitration, they requested an invoice estimate. After I provided it, the manager, **Jack**, called me back and was **extremely rude and unprofessional**.
Instead of addressing the issue fairly, he **interrogated** me about the car, dismissed my concerns, and outright refused to work with me. When I asked for a reasonable resolution, he **rudely shut me down**, saying he wouldn't return the car and that I was "wasting his time." He even told me to get an attorney instead of offering any real help.
If you're thinking about buying from this auction, **BEWARE**—they do not stand behind their sales, and their customer service is **horrible**. I would never recommend this place to anyone. **Stay away!**
I’ve purchased several vehicles here with no problems until today where I put a bid in a car and received a email that the seller wanted $1600 vs $1200 which was the bid. This totally blindsided me as this was a gift for my son and the seller had 48 hours to decide if he wanted to accept my bid or really the seller had 48 hours to find someone to pay more. This prevented me from bidding on other cars and left me in limbo. The awesome service woman took complete care of the issue kept calm and made sure my deposit was refunded! Now I’m happy
First off let me say that Christal aka Cat is thee best personality for this kind of business she's amazing !! She always keeps a smile and I've witnessed her be very helpful and patient with other new customers as well as myself. I've purchased over 5 cars here recently. About three weeks ago, I made a decision to try online bidding for a car after about two or three tries. I won my bid or I had the highest bid on a 2008 Saturn Vue suv awd automatic After paying for this, I went to pick it up or have a tow, but I didn’t take in consideration that I am tall 6’3”. Unfortunately, I could not fit inside the vehicle with my long legs And the key was stuck in the ignition. Also, on top of that when the vehicle was brought to me, it’s stop running. Several attempts to jump start this car fail. I spoke to the manager from the site and I was told that the process will go to arbitration. Several days later I was given a full refund that I suggested a couple of days after the phone call. I was very impressed with the customer service finding a solution to this problem and yes, I do highly recommend others who is not as tall to try online auction at Capital auto They will be receiving five stars from me.
Didn’t have any lights on until 2 days after I bought it. I fixed the issue but that light immediately came on a FEW days later and decided to give out just now today. No problems were mentioned in the description of the car. I felt scammed!
11/9/2024 I called today to get guidance on the "Reserve Not Met" issue and was assisted by Jack. Jack was very polite, kind, assistive, and patient and provided excellent customer service. His guidance in how to navigate through this issue was IMPECCABLE. I have purchased a vehicle before from the Capital Auto Auction and I must admit I was thoroughly pleased. PRAYERFULLY I will be purchasing my second vehicle today. Jack you are AWESOME.
Hit or miss internet auction only you can't see cars in person. Alot of the vehicles are overpriced. Not wait too long to get the vehicle checked out if something is wrong they might help you if it wasn't stated in the description
How do u actually speak to a real person about this auction? Why are they still not letting people view the cars before bidding on them? We have been out of Covid Protocols for 2yrs now. If I bid on a car online and no one out bids me then shouldn’t I get the car? Aren’t these cars supposed to be auctioned off to the highest bidder? How come I see cars with bids on them one week, but then the following week the same car is in the auction again. How come they don’t list the rules, policy, and procedure on the website.
The first car I got from here was a Chevrolet 2008 back in 2020 the description said nothing was wrong with it and when I drove it nothing was wrong it was a nice car. 3 weeks ago I got a Chrysler 2013 and in the description, it said nothing was wrong with the car soon as I drove it off the lot the check engine light came on and the car shut down on me in the middle of the street. I feel like if customers can't see the car in person or test drive the car or can't do their own inspection of the car until we buy the vehicle at least make sure in the car description about the car that it's correct and accurate.
Speaking with some of these employees I cannot be more thankful. Customer service has been great and they’ve held true to their word so far. Will be doing business again.

As a wholesale dealer I used to deal with Capital Auto Auction all of the time and they were great . But a couple of years ago I sent my Range Rover through their auction to sell it. Four weeks went by and I looked at every sale when my truck went through and it SOLD. But every time I went to pick up my check the owner would say “ the person that won the bid didn’t pay for the vehicle “ ..what it really was is that Capital Auto Auction wanted the vehicle them selves . If you are trying to sell a nice vehicle through Capital they will try to stall you out so that you will get frustrated and sell it for less!!!! TO THEM !!
Best auction I ever dealt with. Jack and his employees do excellent job taking care of your needs. They also provide good running cars at a fair price.
I have purchased 2 vehicles from here and never had an issue. I do agree that the buyer fee is pretty high, but all in all a decent place to purchase a vehicle. If you understand that it is an auction and you may just get what you pay for or more this is the place for you. Honestly, I have purchased a car from a dealer that gave more issues than the vehicles that I purchased at the auction.
Excellent experience selling a car with CAA. The drop off process was organized and quick. Cost to list was $100 and another $75 when it sold (they were running a special). Car sold but the buyer did not go through with the transaction. They relisted at no charge and it sold the 2nd time. Picked up a check 2 weeks later which was also quick. I would say most of the negative reviews are people not understanding the process of an auction. We made $2500 more than if we had traded it to the dealer. Made less than attempting to sell it ourselves but that process is full of headaches.
Buyer Beware. Don't even think about this place, RUN! I recently bought a vehicle here and I believe it was manipulated to hide some major issues. I looked at the pictures and paid attention to the description only to be delivered a vehicle with major malfunction, all the dashboard lights on (which was not disclosed) and so far spent close to $3k and the car still not drive-able. Almost a month and the car is in the shop. This place should be shutdown and I will be filing a formal complaints with the relevant authorities.
I don't mind buying a car from them, car prices fair, but the buyer fee are outrages, the fee more than 25% not only increases car total prices then repairing cost on the top of it. Every car has more than $500 minimum repairing. The staff may steel parts( I am guessing as I learnt) Car battery can be bad but missing does't make a sense, I bought a has battery it cost $175.00) otherwise they mention most possible known problem. It would be better if they reduce the buyer's fee. Enjoy the freedom of USA
Purchased a vehicle via online auction. Somehow, the vehicle was sold for my max proxy bid which I found to be very suspicious. Did some research and it seems that is pretty consistent. I haven't received the vehicle yet, but so far, I'm not impressed. I probably overpaid for something that I will need to do tons of repair on. Live, learn.... but check reviews first. Bid with caution, and don't use proxy bid at all.... ever....
And no, you won't find a record of my purchase using the name I use for google reviews....
Capital Auto and Truck Auction purchased my very old car. They gave me the best quote online and reached out as soon as I accepted it. Everyone I talked to was very polite and ready to help. A tow truck came the next day, picked up the car and the driver gave me the check. I strongly recommend them!
I have bought vehicles from Capital Auto Auction in Maryland for several years now. The cars I've bought are inexpensive. OiI've gotten vehicles for my family members and the cars have been decent cars. I now have friends that want me to get vehicles for them too. They have great customer service. If I had any problems I've spoken with Jack and he has resolved my issues. Good place to go if your looking for a car.
