Rented a car online for a trip from Fri to Monday. Avelo delayed my flight From Friday morning to Saturday afternoon. Rent a wreck refused to refund me my money Friday and said I can pick up the car Saturday. I arrived Saturday afternoon and they had already closed at the early hour of 12pm!!! I thought “I’ll pick it up Sunday then.” But NOPE, THEY ARE CLOSED Sunday, so I still could not get my vehicle. Lost hundred of dollars on a car I never used due to their policies. NEVER rent from here, rent from locations that do not charge up front, you can cancel on with unexpected flight issues, and are open when the airport is. Do Avis or Budget right inside of Avelo because they are open all the time, and they do not charge you & you can cancel if you do not pick up the car due to flight issues.
The New Haven office is great and the two women who work the desk are both excellent. We received a new 2025 blue Nissan wirh only ca. 3300 miles in pristine condition (clean and sparkling!). We had no problems at all and we even received a ride to the airport from Kay (delightful young lady and a great, careful drive!) for our flight from Tweed-New Haven airport. We recommend Rent a Wreck very highly - their prices are excellent!
It was easy had no issues picked up my car drive ur and returned it. Reasonable rates . The cars aren't new but they drive and they get you from A to B i will use them again saves me money
For the past two years, we’ve rented a 15-passenger van from Rent-A-Wreck to attend a church conference. Each time, their team has been helpful and professional when handling our rental experience and the vehicle provided has always met our needs.

I only needed a medium sedan and they provided a great car with pushbutton start and backup camera. I couldn’t tell the diff between Budget and Rent-a-Wreck when I was behind the wheel. There was a huge difference when it came time for payment.
Sherry is not only a great person, she's patient, kind and extremely professional. The associates that rode us to and from the airport, were great as well. We will use Rent a Wreck again.
Terrible. I booked 1 way from Waterbury to New Haven and the reservation was made for round trip from and to New Haven so needed to cancel and could not because obviously I I was trying to beg to New Haven in the first place.
Everytime I visit CT, there ends up being a problem with my rental car and everytime Rent a Wreck is the solution. The agents at the desk are fast, efficient, and super helpful. At this point, I'd rather rent with them than any of the other big name car rental services. I'm officially a lifelong customer.
The car that was held for me had lingering oder of smoke. Sherri, desk agent, said the was the only vehicle available, unless I wanted to upgrade to minivan at a higher cost. I did not want to upgrade and I refused the smokey car. This location is 20 minutes away from the airport. I ask for a ride back to the airport so I could make other arrangements. She refused to take my party back to the airport. Finally after some more discussion she agreed to take us back to the airport. This is Poor Customer Service!!
At first I was a little skeptical about this place because of the name. I actually ended up here because my enterprise reservation some how got cancelled last minute. I needed a 7 passenger vehicle and it was Easter weekend. Called this place, the lady that answered the phone was very nice. She said she had a few vehicles that size available and I can come down and check them out. When I got there everyone was polite and friendly! I got a 2018 dodge caravan, it was perfect for my family and I. We drove to Florida and back with no problem at all. Had the car a total of 12 days. I would definitely rent from them again, I highly recommend!!
They make up a reson to keep you deposit and they cars are all most as much as the big boy companies I will never use them again they gave me a car that turned off at every traffic light
Purchased their rental van for the weekend rate of 89 a day was quoted for the weekly rate over the phone picked up the vehicle on saturday and was supposed to have it for a week. The car broke down on the way home the transmission was slipping, barley got the vehicle back to my house and called their after hour road side number. It was answered by a garage person who repeatedly told me it was too far for him to travel to pick up the vehicle. I am disgusted with the whole situation vacation ruined and stuck till Monday till they reopen. I am worried that this company is going to keep our money and rip us off. I will never rent another vehicle from rent a wreck and i can’t depend on them for being honest business. This whole thing has disgusted me. There nation wide number also was canceled so they don’t have road service. The company is a complete mess i am warning those who rent from here to watch for serious signs of fraud and if your vehicle does break down don’t plan on them coming to get you or help you in till Monday when they reopen. I give them one star because that’s the worst i could give them because of this horrible experience.
I recommend them to anyone . Their receptionist is very nice and she explains your bill detail by detail better than other places before you sign your rental form. I forgot her name but she is awesome thanks for your services
