I've been going to Stop & Go Transmissions for 2 years now. I first went to them when my transmission was leaking, Toyota quoted me $7,000. They fixed it for less than $2,000 including a minor axle repair. These are generations on experience caring for your car. I met the grandad, father, and son, how awesome is that!!!!
They now manage all my car needs, including regular servicing like transmission fluid and oil changes. They are honest and fair with pricing, and I truly appreciate how they explain things and recommend the best options for me, even if it saves money! It is great to have a local shop that can truly be trusted, no price gouging from these guys. Most recently my check engine light was on and they did the diagnostics for free and referred me back to Toyota. Unfortunately, wasn't something they Stop and Go could fix, needed to be taken to the deal and ended up costing me an arm and a leg. The diagnostics alone was over $200. Need I say more!
Hands down best mechanics I have ever experienced I went in for advice on a situation and they gave me so much knowledge and sound advice . No mechanics do that now a days!
I really can’t say enough good things. Ed and his crew went so out of their way for us. He spoke to and followed all the protocol for us to get money from our warranty WHILE ALSO not comprising his own work ethic and what he thought was best for our car. He advised us so well, to get a new transmission instead of a used one and he explained to us why and gave us proof of other jobs he’s had relating to our same car. He was communicative with us through the entire thing and got it back to us as fast as he could.

Inquired about rebuilding my transfer case—the chain is stretched and worn out. The person answering the phone seemed clueless. Told me it was a NP263XHD, and would be very easy to swap out but cheaper to put a new one in and he had many sources. How much? He told me $3500 for the unit. I told him I could get one NP263XHD Amazon for $1200 shipped to my door. (Note rechecked—Amazon increased the price $100 from $995 plus $120 shipping—with shipping and tax is $1338.90). He marked it up $2000. He also lied and said it was not true that I needed to check that. I said I researched it and that included a heavy duty portion of the case. (These have a known issue). He repeatedly denied I had my facts right. I told him that the cost was too much and hung up on him.
Most likely they would rebuild it and charge you the remanufacutred price. Any mechanic could swap in a rebuild Heavy duty unit for less than half what these people want.
You can be assured these people will lie to you, overcharge you and finally that they are not competent to rebuild one of these which would cost less than $200 in parts for a rebuild kit.
Great service and a friendly staff. This family owned business is fabulous! They explain the details about the work your car needs and if you do not need service, they are honest about that too. The location is easy to get to and close to Fairfield as well which made it convenient. I very highly recommended going to Stop & Go Transmissions & Auto Center.
Ed and the mechanic's at Stop and Go are great. My 2007 Escape had a cooling leak issue. They worked diligently to figure it out and resolve the problem. They are fair and reasonable. I highly recommend them.

I took my 2014 Ford Focus with serious transmission problems to these guys in May 2021. They kept the car for more than a couple weeks and basically performed a miracle... the transmission has been extremely smooth and trouble free ever since, and I get a 1 year warranty on top of that. I waited a good long while before writing a review to really see how the car would run over a long period of time. So far it's been great, and if any problem does come up, it's going right back to these guys who know exactly what they're doing. I highly recommend this place for transmission repair.

I have a good experience with stop and go transmission! The owner n he’s son they are awesome people friendly welcome when u walk in at the door! Honest people they tell right away what the best for ur car ! He talk to my extended warranty on my Subaru wrx , after he hand me my keys I took my car for a test drive n awesome driving experience! Also I comeback for double check to make sure transmission have no leaks or anything wrong with it I will say this is the best place to bring ur car for transmission problem

Ten out of ten stars! Transmission completely failed on my 2013 Grand Caravan - Ed and his team got me back on the road in less than a week. Explained everything and didn’t do anything unnecessary or over the top to inflate the bill. Would definitely recommend, and will use them again if needed!! Me decide the best option for my 20 year old Lexus es 300 to take on the great dilemma of when is it time to give up on a car transmission problems and scrap it or fix it. Well I am on the last leg of my efforts to scrap the car or fix it. If the pre programmed computer from Flagship One fails to get this car shifting again Im giving up and scraping the car and ending its years of service.
The transmission went in my 2006 Hummer, so I called a friend who owns an automotive repair business, and he referred me to Ed, owner of Stop & Go Transmissions in Bridgeport. The problem was quickly diagnosed and the estimate for the overhaul was extremely fair. Because of the age of the truck, some problems arose, and Ed went above and beyond my expectations to fix the problem. He worked diligently to resolve the issue, which involved purchasing special tools, at his cost. The truck is running perfectly, thanks to Ed and his staff, and their attention to detail. If you are looking for quality work, from an honest person, I would not hesitate to recommend Ed at Stop & Go Transmissions.

Took my 09 F-150 STX there for transmission rebuild. It's now performing better than when the truck was new. Price was reasonable for the amount of work that was required. I will return for normal drivetrain service, rather than the Ford dealership.
Follow up report: My F-150 needed brakes so returned to Stop & Go. Did me right again. Had pads and rotors done all the way around. Ed and the gang also discovered and fixed a broken spring on the front strut that was missed recently by the dealership. The brakes needed a minor adjustment the day after, called Ed he cleared a bay and had the adjustment made in 10 minutes. Excellent service!
Ed and his team are true professionals! I unknowingly bought a lemon with a multitude of things wrong with it. They fixed all of the problems for a reasonable price, and they went above and beyond to help me. They are honest, kind, talented experts. I will no longer take my car anywhere else. I could not be happier with my experience at Stop & Go Transmissions and Auto Center. I had my car brought there - because it was not running at all - based off of a recommendation I got from someone. And now, I wouldn't go anywhere else. The service and the people are so great. The parts were ordered within a day, and after the parts were in-house, they rebuilt my transmission and I had my car back and running in less than a week. I brought it in two weeks later for a standard check-up to make sure all was well. And I will bring it back in a year, as they suggest. They stand by their work as I stand by their work. I have had no issues with the car since they helped me get it back on the road. The owner is great, his employees are great, and I highly recommend them!
Great phone call to start but was all different once I get over there. Not sure if it was the owner I was talking to but, pretty poor service. As I come in to explain my issue. I get cut off by an employee needing a day off because of court and the advisor/owner continues to carry on the conversation with him. Like really you cant have this converation some other time. Totally unprofessional with no sense or courtesy. In addition doesn't really seem interested in my issue, i guess because its not a $2000 transmission job. He told me to pull up the car so he can hook up the machine to it. At that point it was just another way of him telling me we don't care about your issue and you can be on your way, which is why didnt pull up my car and just left.
My experience at Stop & Go was nothing short of great. The staff and employees treated me with respect from the moment I walked in, and the service was great. I took my 1998 Jeep Wrangler in for a price comparison of 3 shops, expecting a price about $3,500 to $4,000 to fix a transmission. As it turns out, they used their scanner and they determined they could fix my problem for $2,500 and within two days of dropping it off. Thank you very much Stop & Go!!!!!! 100 thumbs up.
