Larry and his crew are awesome. Amazing job done super quickly. We don't trust anyone else.

My Dodge truck broke down at Bucc-ees and didn’t know where to take my truck? My insurance company State Farm gave me a list of where I could have Roadside Assistance tow it to, so I picked H&R Repair and Towing and they did an amazing job! Jim gave me a quote and when I picked up my truck and was so happy because he actually charged me over a hundred dollars less than what he originally quoted. That has only happened once in my lifetime of 53 years and I live in Aurora and I wouldn’t hesitate to drive back to have my repairs done. With H&R Repair your in good hands and honesty in this day and age is very hard to come by, any other shop would’ve just charged me the original price and probably would have told me I had other things needed fixed

I pride myself on not being a "Karen" and often times when things are done incorrectly or even there are hiccups, I won't say anything because customer service is hard. Dealing with people and appointments all day is hard. But something needs to be said. Honestly one of the worst places I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The first time I ever when to H&R, they charged me 200 dollars to tighten a spark plug, which if I had known that was the issue I would have tightened it myself instead of playing them 200 dollars for an extremely simple task. I know it's simple because I had to go back under my hood THE NEXT DAY to tighten the one that they said they had "tightened." Charging 160 dollars for a diagnostic as well is in my mind, is extremely unreasonable. The second time I have interacted with the employees who work upfront was nothing but me being spoke down too and they wouldn't even listen to the issues I was having with my car. What they, over the phone, quoted me on without even listening to my issues and needs was over 3000 dollars to fix. If you're a woman, I recommend NEVER setting foot into this place for anything more than an oil change unless you want to be spoken down too and treated as if you know nothing about what you're talking about. And if they respond to this review like they do to every negative review, NO I do not plan on ever coming back to your establishment. YES I went off on you guys over the phone because I WILL NOT be spoken too how you guys think it was okay to speak to me when I called this morning (7/8/25). You guys are nothing but RUDE your customer base, especially the women who come in.

My family returned from vacation and had an unfortunate breakdown in the middle of the interstate. H&R responded promptly and took care of our vehicle over night. Owner met me the next day and was a very kind and compassionate gentleman. Appreciate this place and what they did for our family thank you!

Originally my review was one star…they turned things around for me big time! H&R was dispatched via AAA for a lockout. I had called H&R to ask for an ETA and was really disappointed when the gentleman told me he cannot give me an ETA. Little did I know, he called his employee, Pete, who was almost done with his shift for the day to ask him to help me out. Pete provided first-class customer service. He called with an ETA almost immediately, was incredibly kind and friendly, and was able to assist with the lockout promptly upon arrival. He is a kind soul and I’m so grateful he agreed to help me out at the end of his day. Give this man a raise!!

Do not I repeat do not take your car to this shop. They misdiagnosed my car over three times & I now have to get a new engine. At the time my car wasn’t even five years old. I have had five different mechanics now look at the car and everyone leads back to I should have never of taken my car to H&R and they’re at fault. When you try and have them do the right thing the front desk lady and the owner are completely rude. I now had to hire a lawyer. It took some time but, I am going to fight for what is right. Please I beg you don’t end up like me and trust this company.

Pete came out to unlock my Ford Ranger (thru AAA) and he was absolutely wonderful.. he had a great sense of humor, cheerful attitude and was professional as well. Thank you, Pete and H & R Repair & Towing for getting me inside of my locked and running vehicle.

Just called to make an appointment for a simple 30 minute oil change. The individual that answered the phone could have cared less. I was told that they don't normally work on VW's - Incorrect! I was also told that they don't do oil changes after 11am - Incorrect! I have had my VW's oil changed there on numerous occasions in the afternoon. Not sure what happened to the sweet lady that normally answers the phone? I might add - there is about to be two or three new repair shops in and around Johnstown over the next few years and if this is the norm at H&R - they ain't goin to be one of them. Good Luck! SMH

My car died on I-25 and I requested a tow through AAA. I had gotten a ride from a friend to get to safety away from the interstate. When I was connected with H&R Towing, I told the driver Jon that it would take about an hour to get a ride back to my car for the tow. He worked with me to arrange getting to my car so I could be towed back to my house. Jon was very friendly, professional, and helpful!

Would give it zero starts if I could, driver is trashy and unprofessional and smelt like an ash tray. Gave every excuse in the book to not tow my vehicle. Will definitely go out my way to not send a single person their way, I mean the 3 star rating says hysterically enough about this “business” and who works there. Unfortunately AAA sent them my way, after all these damages they cause in these reviews I’m glad they didn’t tow my car actually. Hope this place sinks ??

Had a mechanical failure yesterday and called AAA. H and R towing showed up and I was extremely pleased with the friendly service. Jon was great and got my Jeep back to the house without issue. Highly recommended if you need help!

INCOMPETENT and NO Integrity. They destroyed my rear differential by towing my AWD vehicle on it's rear wheels rather than putting it on a flatbed, causing $3,300 in damage. They then refused to take responsibility and pay for the repair even though it was 100% their fault. Their excuse was that I didn't let them repair it and instead took it to my mechanic. Why would I trust them do a major repair on my car when they were too incompetent to tow it properly in the first place? On top of all that they were very rude about it.

Probably the most incompetent + lazy auto repair guy I’ve ever met. Triple A sent a guy from H+R out to my house to switch out a battery, they sent him the year, make and model of my car prior to him accepting the service call. Once he got here, complained about the 40 minute drive he had made, the weather (that passed within 10 minutes) as well as the fact he had to drive in the rain to get here. My toddlers complain less than this guy did on a four minute phone call. He then told me he didn’t even have the battery in his truck…. Then left. All without even getting out of his car. I would highly recommend calling a monkey to help you with your maintenance over these guys ?

If you’re looking for a tow company through AAA, look other directions. Poor driver service, zero office staff. They’ll find any reason not to tow a vehicle. 2015 pickup left in the yard. Edit: Clearly no issues with AAA. AAA is here for a reason.

I have been using H & R Auto for 15+ years. Just took my wife's Grand Cherokee there for the dreaded penstar 3.6 engine lifter and rocker arm repair. Yes it took 2 days longer then I hoped - it took a whole week. Bummer. They currently [July 2024] only have 1 full time tech. When we moved here 16 years ago they had 3 1/2. H & R NEEDS TO FIX THAT IMMEDIATELY!! Back to repair when we picked up the Jeep it sounded fantastic as it did new nice & increase in power Jeep only has 74,000....Jim was up front with us thru the delays and communicated well. Yes they are more expensive and we do go elsewhere at times. BUT ALL THESE NEG REVIEWS ARE UNFAIR. People you all have responsibility for your vehicles PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE ISSUES. So many people just get in their autos and drive drive drive never giving a thought to their vehicles PM. Then take it out of auto repair shops.

Such great and lovely service from both the mechanics as well as the lovely desk lady that helped us. Quick with their service on changing my partner’s battery cables, as well as helping jump his battery and keeping such great customer service the entire time. In terms of small mechanical repairs, I highly suggest this shop with how quickly it was done and how pleasant these folks were! Outstanding seriously. :D

H&R responded after I had a flat tire in the early evening and called AAA. I immediately received a call from Mike. He arrived promptly, was cheerful and had a positive and helpful attitude and advice, and quickly put the spare tire on. As a senior woman, I could barely lift the tire/wheel so there was no way I could change it myself. It had a screw which I could see, and Mike saw an additional nail on the other side. He was efficient and offered useful counsel as to how to drive on the spare and for how long after.

Such a great staff works here! I always know I can count on them to take care of my personal car and my work car! Love everyone here, definitely recommend them for car troubles and if you ever need a tow! They're super fast and great at what they do!

Garbage! Store manager was 0 help! Didn’t even try to help! Just brushed me off like I could just magically drive off! Like I just needed the stubs replaced! But I’m assuming he doesn’t know much about cars because everything he listed that was a red flag wasn’t the least related to the main issue! I’d recommend going anywhere but here!

I'm not one to normally share negative reviews, However, H & R Repair and Towing desperately needs to improve their services, including their customer service. My daughter lives in Johnstown & took her 2019 Subaru to H&R for a coolant leak in Nov/2023. They said they fixed the coolant leak, then after she left her check engine light came on, it had never been on before, they didn't check her fluids at original visit or do a safety inspection. She took it back in, they did an oil change, she drove the car for 1,100 miles during the week, after the oil change & hose replacements. The car overheated, she pulled over, had it towed back in due to the hose they originally replaced coming off, since the clamps were not properly installed. Now her cylinder heads have blown due to the hose they installed blowing off. A four year old car with a blown engine due to their negligence. We've made attempts to contact the owner, resolve this in a respectful and responsible manner. Donna, who answers the phones refuses to allow us to discuss this matter with Larry, the owner. She has been most unprofessional each time we've attempted to reach the owner, yelling at us, hanging up on us, when we were being very calm in our attempts to get answers and resolve this. My daughter has the paperwork from each time she had her car there & 3 mechanics have now stated negligence on the part of H&R, after checking out the car/hoses/clamps/paperwork. She's also attempted emailing to get this resolved, with no accountability on their part, as calling trying to discuss the issue in a reasonable manner has been impossible. We are left with a 4yr old car with a blown engine due to the horrible choice to have H & R work on this car. Sadly, we trusted a local small business to be honorable & provide quality work. Now they refuse to do anything to accept accountability of their actions or even discuss in a professional manner.

I am so unhappy with this company at the moment! I called AAA to get a tow as my vehicle overheated and was told by AAA that this company would be there to get me and gave me a specific time. I sat in my vehicle and waited for over an hour when I decided to start my vehicle and drive it up the street to the gas station so I was in a more safe place as it was starting to get dark. I called H&R to let them know that I had moved the car since I still had not heard from them. The person picked up the phone and informed me that he wasn’t coming to get me because of some tow laws with Wyoming. Understandable but also really unprofessional to not give the customer a Courtesy phone call to let me know he wasn’t coming! The person was rude when speaking with me as well. What a waste of over an hour waiting just to be told they’re not coming.

I recently visited this shop for the first time for an oil change, and what I thought I needed to be done, which was an alignment. I was 100% expecting them to try to upsell me or lie to me about needing additional work done. I was SOOOO happy when Donna called me and told me they had inspected my vehicle and did the alignment and oil change and that fixed my issue. She did not try to sell me ANYTHING additional! To top it off, it was SUPER affordable! It is hard to be taken seriously and not be taken advantage of as a single woman at an auto shop. I will be coming here from now on. Highly recommend!! Super frustrating that I took my 435i in for a repair on my tire, which they did in fact fix that. But my husband confirmed if it was okay to come close to closing or if another time would be better and they told us to come in. Did a rushed job and ended up scratching my brand new wheels twice, told us “yeah it slipped” and then proceeded to charge us full price after expressing how upset I was with the damage. I understand mistakes and I’m usually very graceful but it lines up with the service expressed on other bad reviews.

My little one accidentally locked the car with the keys inside while with her grandmother. Emergency services recommended this company to help, two men came to help about 10 minutes after calling. They were able to get the door open quickly and without damage. They also seemed like really nice people who genuinely wanted to help. They charged us very little. We were very appreciative.

H&R refused the tow and failed to call me to let me know. I had to call them to find this out. The driver also lied about my vehicle having no tags. I was with the vehicle and nobody ever came by. Definitely DO NOT use H&R. To answer the response below…. My problem is with H&R. If your driver had called when he was on the way last night, I would have been there and able to show him the vehicle was legal. Also You never canceled with AAA as they still had you as the tow service as of 9 am this morning. They also had no idea you canceled.
