Brought my truck into Camarillo Independent Automotive Repair (CIAR) for an oil change and smog inspection just before the Christmas holiday. First time patronizing this establishment and dealt specifically with Service Advisors Julio and Xochitl for these services. However, with a recent battery change performed by me, the smog test portion of the workorder failed proving frustrating and untimely as state DMV registration was due within days. Even with the sound advice to drive my vehicle for longer durations, and with frequent ignition on/off sequences to get an untriggered sensor to activate, a return trip to CIAR to test again proved unsuccessful. Xochitl and Julio understood my predicament and continued to be patient, informative, professional, available, empathetic, friendly, and knowledgeable as I returned a third time for a retest after I put many more miles on my vehicle. It finally passed smog on this 3rd attempt, and even though I missed the 30-day retest window by a few days, they honored their word to keep the 3rd inspection effort attached to my original workorder outlay and, thus, granted me the DMV-required certificate. So, you can add “honorable” to the aforementioned adjective list associated with these classy CIAR team members. Trying CIAR for the first time, with something small, was also a test, as I was in desperate need of finding a trustworthy & competent auto service & repair company, locally, who also pursues high quality standards and customer satisfaction results. This experience has led me to believe I have found just that with Camarillo Independent Automotive Repair….
WOW — I had the BEST experience here! I went in thinking I definitely needed new brakes, and they were able to get me in super quickly and easily. They did a complimentary inspection and took the time to explain everything so clearly and thoroughly. To my surprise, they told me I actually still had plenty of life left in my brake pads! I was genuinely shocked (in the best way) and so impressed by their honesty and transparency. It’s rare to find a repair shop you can truly trust, and this place absolutely earned it. I will 100% be coming back in the future and recommending them to everyone I know!
Camarillo Independent is the only place i take my car in for service. They always give updates on my vehicle to keep me updated. Fixed my issues last week and they are working the final fixes this eeek. Customer service is excellent and they will pixk uou up and take you home. Love this Auto Service Center!
My van got towed to the shop as it overheated and lust all antifreeze out of the system. They diagnosed it the same day and had my van back to me the next afternoon. Their mechanics are awesome diagnosticians! Also got my AAA discount!!
I have a 8th Gen Civic Si that threw a P2647 code. I tried changing out the VTEC oil pressure switch and was going to do the connector but it was a pain to get to and my brother uses this shop a lot so I dropped it off Monday afternoon and it was ready Wednesday. Their system gives you quick easy to understand estimates, approve or decline recommendations and you’re on your way. Highly recommend their services!
Went to the smog place next door to get my wife’s car smogged. They were closed, but the mechanic on duty told me they do smog inspections. Walked in, and they took great care of me. They were professional and courteous, but most importantly, they had me in and out within 15 minutes. Appreciate y’all seeing me on such short notice. Thank you.
This was my first experience with Independent, which was very good. I asked them to look into a fluid leak and do a oil change service. They located and fixed two different leaks. Both at different locations than I was told by the previous mechanic. Additionally the are doing an ultraviolet inspection to make sure the got all the leaks. Their inspection reports are very thorough with photos. Highly recommend this mechanic.
They are a little pricy for an independent. But the work was ok. A little fringe but ok. No complaints. Front desk was very cordial and the girl who drove me home was very nice. I’ll wait to see if work holds but the guaranteed for two + years. I believe they are much improved. New serpentine and clean whole auto filter and spark plugs. $910.00. 5 days later update my air conditioner is now cooler it was almost non existent as a cooler. But the vacuum improved it also.
Truly impressed with this shop! We were passing through town when one of those dreaded lights came on. Every person we encountered was so professional and very service oriented. Everything was explained so clearly and was even backed by their digital vehicle inspections where they take pictures of everything that they see on your car that could be an issue. Super great communication and service!!!
I am new to the area and got a recommendation for a smog test. Expected to have to make an appointment but Samantha said they could do it right away. 25 minutes later I was done. Old not have been a better more pleasant experience!
Called on a Monday morning and they were able to get my 2020 Ford Edge in for service immediately. Check in was extremely easy and was offered a ride home, which I gladly accepted. Service was completed in a timely manner and check out was equally as easy. Staff was helpful, courteous and professional. Definitely will be returning for future services.
If you need a family mechanic this is the place to go to. I had a problem with my ball joints and when I took it in they did a really thorough inspection on my truck that included pictures and videos of the problems with them and were able to fix it very quickly for a very good price. They took care very good care of my vehicle and I will be 100% coming back to them and recommending them to my friends and family.
I recently took my 2016 VW Jetta for a full brake job—replacing the rear pads and rotors—and I couldn't be happier with the results and the service. From start to finish julio was professional and transparent. They clearly explained why both the pads and rotors needed replacing and gave me a fair quote with no pressure. Headlight replaced as well. 100% recommend

I originally came in looking for a different Auto repair shop . Samantha a technician/ front desk notified me that the repair shop I was looking for had moved and then offered me to go through their shop. I wasn’t sure at first but after speaking with Patrick the manager of the establishment he made me feel confident about leaving my truck in their hands. Within a couple hours my truck was in and out. They are fair with pricing and they are a very trustworthy auto repair shop and that is hard to find !
Went to Big Brand first, I was told an alignment for my car wasn’t possible because it needed manufacturing parts. The job was going to cost close to $600. I went to Camarillo Independent turns out manufacturing parts were not needed and the alignment was possible and I was only charged for the alignment (a fraction of the cost I was going to pay at Big Brand). Camarillo Independent provides excellent customer service and they know what they are doing. Master techs make a big difference!

My experience with Camarillo Independent was, as always, a pleasant one. They treat you with respect and don't push you into doing unnecessary repairs. They do a complete inspection of the engine and drive train. They photograph the components to back up any issues that might need repair or replacement. If it's something they feel could be addressed at a later time, they'll tell you. I've used this facility many years and would recommend them to anyone.
This is my third visit and as in the past two, the service was great. From beginning to end, a seamless and satisfying experience. I would recommend these fine folks to anyone who needs their automobile repaired. And most of all, you will be treated with respect and HONESTY.
Took my car in after I had taken it to a dealership. Camarillo independent automotive Repair did a better job diagnosing the car versus the dealership(have been taking my vehicles to them for years). Same outcome but with better detailed information. Took care of me and my car. Found more issues with the car which I was happy to replace. Have not replaced these new issues since 2012, can’t complain. Ran in to some little issues but were all fixed. Kept me updated about my car.
Would recommend and they always have people coming in for services. They will take care of your car needs and answer any and all of your questions.
My family has had Camarillo Independant working on our cars for years now. I had trouble with a door closing on my Chevy Corvette. After many calls to get it fixed the only ones that would take it in was Camarillo Independant. They went over everything and fixed my door issue when noone else would. I would give them 10 stars if i could. Very Professional and Polite. Sofie was great in helping me out with my car issues. Love this Company! You were able to fix my locking lugnuts without a key for me. Dealerships would not help with this. Second time you came thru when noone else could help me. I would give 10 stars if i could!
First experience with this shop and very pleased with their knowledge, work and customer service. No hassels, job completed on time and pricing was more than reasonable. The folks at Camarillo Independent are so wonderful. They are very helpful in providing a detailed written estimate giving you choices to have or decline work for later. They are always very accommodating in getting me in on short notice and giving me realistic expectations for how long the repairs could take. They take very good care of all of my vehicles as well as my daughters, my mom’s and my sisters vehicles. They even have their own shuttle now so I don’t have to arrange for a ride.
The recent repair work was done perfectly. The employees were honest and up front about everything. I absolutely would recommend Camarillo Independent to anyone. The prices are much less that a dealer would have charged.
