Recology South Valley conducts their shady business like the monopoly that they are. In Gilroy they’re the only residential trash available and the whole city is forced to use them. Currently I’ve gone 5 days with no garbage container because our trash person inadvertently threw ours away into his dumpster last week. Did anyone from Recology SV contact me to say “sorry about that, we’ll bring you another trash can”. No. I had to review our security footage to figure out why my trash container wasn’t on the curb where I left it on trash day. When I called I was told that they don’t have enough staff or trucks to deliver a replacement any sooner than 5 days. So we’ve been stacking our garbage outside until foxes came and gleefully tore into them, leaving 4 days worth of garbage littered EVERYWHERE. When I called Recology SV to ask where my can was and if I would receive a credit for the 5 days I haven’t had a trash container I was told that Recology South Valley doesn’t offer compensation or credit because the residential customers pay for weekly “pick up” service ONLY while the actual trash container is “Recology property” so if they accidentally throw yours away then that’s your tough luck. They don’t tell you they’ve accidentally taken yours nor tell you they’ll replace it because it’s their property and they don’t owe you an explanation or a solution. You will be “put on the schedule” to receive a new container (once you’ve brought it to their attention) when they have someone available to bring it out. And THAT’S “1 Star” Customer Service from a company who is fully aware that they have a monopoly on trash collection for the entire South Valley community.
These drivers tend to drag containers, if they don't drop them in the truck. Had to replace two in the last few months. The last one was for the driver cracking my can in half. He said he requested a new one. It never came and this was the new can. Our neighborhood has most cans dropped with waste around them. Or they are broken. Time to retrain.
