Edit update 10/15/25 read full length or just know you need to watch your weights, items and should expect at least an hour wait in line. due to the service here going down hill real quick and the shady treatment of customers I've removed 2 stars. I come here or rather I was coming here about once a week. I do general maintenance services and collect trash recycling as a volunteer for the county parks. Today was the last straw when they didn't give me my pay out for the entire barrel of aluminum I brought in. When I tried to ask about it the cashier woman refused to speak to me in English. I speak Spanish as well so I tried asking her again in Spanish she just laughed in my face. Also she tried to tell me the number one clean copper cable I brought was steel. A worker actually came over put a magnet to it and had to tell her to take it as it was bright clean copper. I excused the time I was here when a worker told me they didn't accept aluminum rims and the brass I brought in, then took them from the side of my car and put them in his bin as a mistake. It wasn't a mistake I'm sure but I let it go and just grabbed them back out and locked them in my car while I went to get weighed. I understand that the economy and scrap trade is on a decline but just cause y'all are mad doesn't mean you should take it out on customers. Sorry about it. Do better I hope things look up for y'all.

You wait in line facing south on the street. No signage so if you don't go often you have to be told. Had about a 30 min wait to get in so bring something to do. Once in, it goes fast. They help about 2 cars at a time.
Drop off experience was generally good. Line went quick. Easy to drop off and weigh Not happy with rate though. Math isn't great. Subtracted 20 lb for containers instead of 18 lbs so lost out on about $.25 per lb of plastics. Not going to fight about i t. As nice as it is to have a recycling place in gilroy and how important recycling is, it's a disappointment. Just go in knowing, you likely won't get crv.
Came on Sat at 8:30 and they open at 9am. There were already about 15 cars waiting. I waited in the car for 1.5 hrs and once you’re inside it’s pretty quick. The people help you sort, but i wasn’t really paying attention how much my stuff weighed. It wasn’t a big deal to me and they don’t require ID but i had about 6 big bags and got about 50$ for them.
Tried to recycle tin cans (cat food containers) that were washed clean, the recycling was turned away. The very same recycling products had been accepted, not 2 days prior, by the gentleman (owner?) normally in the office. This time a young lady was apparently in charge, and she turned me away saying they only took soda cans and plastic bottles. No consistence at this location, I will use other Recycling Companies in the future.
They are very honest, the line was long but they are efficient and the line moved real quick. I was in and out in 10 minutes , and the workers are nice and hard working. I would really recommend this recycling to anyone. The prices are just right and they pay you for what you got.
We are so glad to have this recycling center here because I don’t know what I would do without it. It’s the only one in town or near Gilroy. The line is long but it does go by real quick. The prices are perfect as well and they actually give you what you brought. They helped me bring down my recycling from my car and they were super quick doing it. All the workers are nice and hard working. I would really recommend this recycling center to anyone in Gilroy.
One of the most ridiculous ways to recycle ever invented. Coming here from the East cost, where each supermarket has recycling machines that automatically count & pay. This huge long line was just crazy. Just think of all the gasoline wasted while all these cars waited in line!
These guys don't take ewaste anymore. I brought them a lot of different ewaste types and they refused 100% of it. Someone responded to my comment and said they would take it for a charge. That was not the option presented to me at all.
Owner here is great person, the lady on cash register seems shady. When owner is on the cash register in the mornings before the lady shows up gets you more moeny for recycling, when the cashier shows up things are different, less money for recycling.
Pay attention to the price and how many pounds they weigh because they always steal. Today it was 86 pounds minus 3 cans of 18, an equivalent to 56 minus 86 equal to 30 pounds of plastic at 1.32 equal to 39.60 which I received 34.37. almost 5 dollars less and this is the third time it has happened to me. I came back to do the experiment that they steal and why I don't have another one near my house. I don't go back there anymore apart from the work that is hard to recycle. stand in line for up to an hour and then get robbed...
Lines are long but what do people expect? This is the most honest place in gilroy and San Jose. Staff are friendly help and right away. Never had an issue with them.

Friendly people, however , the guy helping us did not want us to put 2 bags we had of aluminum in the bin to weigh them. So we only got paid for 2 bins of aluminum when it should have been 4 bins, and when asked the girl if it was 4, she just said yes. People double-check its correct
Martin's recycle center is close to my work and they always have long line of cars waiting as they are super busy. They are very friendly and nice so I would recommend this center if you need to recycle your items.
I arrived to sit in line on Saturday at 10:24 am...dropped off recycles and pulled out of the driveway at 1:09 pm. There was still 50 + cars still in line and they close at 2 pm. So plan to wait mk sure your phone is charged watch a movie perhaps (that's what I did)
Quick and easy. The only issue was getting in, you need to get in by lining up on the street and then turning left to go in. Places small but you’re in and out pretty quick once you do get in.
Great recycling center for cans and bottles, nice drive through and Unloading experience
.. the weighing is debatable though they speak Spanish and you can't see the weight on the bigger scale only the smaller one and he tells the lady at the desk what it weighs.. all in all a good experience and I would go back
Extremely rude. Decided to park outside & walk my recycling in and the lady tells me “we’re not going to take your bottles because we already know the people that don’t have a car and you have a car. You have to drive in with your car” RUDE.
This place does not deserve even one star. CHEAT! CHEAT! CHEAT!
We used 2 different types of scales at home to weigh plastics bottles and aluminum cans. We got there before they were closed. My husband did not read about pounds and prices before signing the sheet, just got cash after correcting their calculation. I noticed the money we got quite a bit less than our calculation based on the weight we weighed at home. I walked back telling that guy that the weight was so much lighter than we weighed at home. The guy (with accent) became furious immediately screaming at us, said his scale was accurate and refused to re weigh the bottles and cans. The previous review said they probably did not do a good math. I believe they do this purposely. Other than they cheat you in weight, they also calculated wrongly if you don’t do math fast enough and correct them.
I don’t know if there are reputable recycling centers exist. Possibly do not exist in Santa Clara county but AVOID THIS PLACE! We will try other recycling places in San Jose to see whether those places cheat as well.
if i can put negative 0 in this rating i will gladly put it. people and especially the manager is rude. not a friendly business at all. do your business in recycling some other place not here, you'll be happier if you do.
Martins is probably the only recycling center currently operating in Gilroy so there is always a line to get in. Today was relatively 'fast' as my total time from when I got in line to the time I drove off was 43 minutes. The main thing I dislike here is that I don't get a printout or any indication of HOW they arrive at the total cash I receive. EVERYWHERE else I've ever taken recycling has given me a slip indicating the weight of each category (aluminum, #1 plastic, and glass) along with the price per pound for each. Without this probably (hopefully) not but they could be short changing a person.
I have been taking my recycling here for a while now and so far I have had a good experience. Sometimes there is a wait time but thats why I try to go early. People that work here are friendly and nice!
I just move to Gilroy and I took my can and plastic to Martin recycling. I had to wait almost 45 minutes to get in . They helped me out to unload my recycling. Very nice and professional staffs with their masks on.
The cashier lady was very nice and helpful.
I've been going this places for years cuz its the most convenient. I like the people that work there but I feel the people doing cashier is dishonest or they lack in math. Seems like they tend to shave couple lbs off.
Waited in an hour line with an SUV full of cans bottles and glass. I had over 75lbs of aluminum alone, they paid me 90.00
It's so not worth going here...I'll take my recycling to san jose
I have my mom who lives in San Martin and I was looking to find a company to help me to remove bunch of old furniture and other stuff from her garage. I had few estimate which the one from Martin Recycling was much lower than others. They did the job in less than 2 hours. They did a great job, very professional. Thanks
The man making the calculations is dishonest! Tried to tell me the plastic bags I brought my cans in each weigh a 1/2 lb and he did the math wrong based off the total weight. Shaved a few pounds off. When I questioned him he started yelling at me. I misread the the total weight at first then questioned the bag weight. Even if the bags weighed a 1/2 lb each he still shaved off a pound or two. When I got home I weighed an empty bag it weighed 2 ounces not 8!! In total I got shorted 3+ lbs for my cans, very dishonest! The man helping take the items from your vehicle is very nice.
