Quiroz Recycling opens at 7:30 a.m. on Saturdays. They take a wide variety of materials from glass to aluminum cans to plastic bottles. They even accept some of the odd types of plastic, but they don't pay for those. There is a covered area for you to sort your recyclables, which is great because the Santee sun can get very hot. I was able to sort seven bags of recyclables this morning and get my reimbursement in about a span of 10 minutes. They're always helpful and friendly.
I recently brought in a mix of metals and old plastic items to recycle, and the service was exceptional. The staff was friendly and professional, making the drop-off process smooth and quick. They also offered a detailed breakdown of the recycling procedures, which made me feel confident in how the materials were being processed. So I’ve been to so many recycling centers in San Diego and this place is by far the best I’ve been to. There were quite a few bees flying around because of the residual liquid in cans which is totally fine, to be expected during the summer. I am very allergic though and was jumping and running away from doing sorting my cans in fears of getting stung. The man who was working though saw me and immediately came over and said he would sort my cans for me since I’m allergic and finished sorting the rest of the cans for me while I was safely in the car. He was so incredibly kind, sweet, and sooooo helpful for doing that for me. I am so grateful for him and his exceptional service. Im addition, they also payed very well for all the cans I brought! Best pay back I’ve gotten from any other recycling center in SD. I am absolutely coming back and recommending this recycling place to everyone I know!
I use this recycling center several times a year. Yesterday I went and was not able to turn in my cans & bottles because of a huge swarm of bees that was all over the center, which is outside. So I tried today and was able to stay mostly away from them because the swarm was smaller. I'm highly allergic to bees. So please be aware, look before you get out of your car.
Go in the morning during the week. Not as crowded. Had some scrap metal to get rid of as well as my plastic bottles.. Was easy and the crew was helpful.
The new guy is not friendly and will not manually enter single items. I usually tip anything under $5 to the guys, but not this guy.
I like recycling here. No idea of comparative rates, but they are friendly enough. They can get really busy at the end of the day
The only recycle I know of that doesn’t limit you to 50 of each type material to be recycled for a full CRV value by count!
Studies have shown By weighing your CRV items, Recycle centers can pay you as low as 40% of their true value (That you paid!)

Very busy on Saturdays. Facility is clean by recycling center standards. Workers are very fast, efficient and honest. Extremely happy to discover this place.
The people are always so nice, plenty of trash cans to use. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the parking isn't the greatest, there's not a lot of spots and it's a pretty small recycling center. Other than that, this is our go-to recycling center.
Ripoff artists who pay 1/3 of the going rate for clean material. They also write their own Yelp reviews. A garbage company run by a garbage family. Avoid.
