It was my first time. They looked at my rear wheel drum and determined I need a new hub. They never charged me for their time!

Stayed an hour and a half late to replace our radiator so we could get back on the road to my brothers wedding. Also best price I could’ve imagined.

What a great shop. They really saved us. We were towing a camper trailer and our wheel was starting to wobble off and lost bolts. We couldn’t even make it to their shop and had to stop a mile away. These guys came to us roadside, checked it out, bought parts, came back and fixed it, all in an hour. Couldn’t have asked for better service in a real crisis situation. Thanks!

Luis went out of his way to fix my car in less than 24 hours, because we were visiting the area from out of town. Amazing. He clearly cares for his customers, and totally accommodated us. Excellent price as well. Thank you, Luis. You rescued our trip.

Luiz fixed my serpentine belt in only 1 day. He is very nice and it did not cost as much as I expected. Will be taking my car back soon for a full tune up and oil change, gave me a great price for both with parts and labor??

I was heading west on 58 towards Bakersfield on August 27, 2025 when I noticed my battery light was ON, so I exited at Ghephart Road, and contacted AAA for a tow; this was at 9:30 AM. Castro Towing came, and I asked to take me to the closest mechanic. The driver took me to Salmex in Mojave, CA. Upon arrival, I spoke to Luis and told him I think my alternator is dead. Upon analysis, he confirmed my suspicion. Luis gave me two options: a rebuilt alternator or new; I chose new. Luis's mechanic replaced the alternator, and I was on my way by Noon. Considering I was in distress and needed to get on my way, Luis was fast and the price reasonable for the repair. Mojave is lucky to have him. Highly recommend!

Took my 20yo Sienna after a 4day camping trip to a nearby Monache meadows. Radiator blew on my way out and a good friend has to tow it out. Luis, the shop owner agreed my car needs a radiator swap but he still insisted to check just in case. He found the radiator intact but only the hose is blown and needs replacement which cost a fraction of the original quote. Luis got it fixed and tested in less than an hour. We were so glad, we also got an oil change for our Rav4. I have 10 other concerns that Luis checked and made sure the car is safe to drive home to Orange, Ca. I will definitely come back next time I got car trouble in the area. Thanks Luis!

These guys are top notch mechanics and a top notch shop!. They did a lot of work on my 2006 Acura MDX and in only 3 days... including replacing timing belt kit, radiator, ac condenser, valve cover gaskets/seals and gave me a loaner car to use while mine was in their shop. My car runs perfect now and the ac is cold for the summer! Their prices are very reasonable too! You cant go wrong bring your vehicle here!

Honest, reasonably priced, friendly, and fast! My car blew a coil while passing through Mojave with my kids from out of state. They fixed it up in less than an hour for cheaper than I expected! I feel so lucky to have found them. Luis is a great guy!

So, I was traveling south today on Hwy 14, and my car began to experience difficulty. I pulled off in the City of Mojave and asked for a referral for a mechanic. I was directed to Salmex Auto, and I couldn’t be more grateful. When I pulled in, the owner, Luis, came out and warmly greeted me. I explained the problem, and he had me pull my vehicle in right away. After a tech diagnostic, he asked me to join him for a drive so he could experience what I had explained him. Within a minute, he had a pretty good idea what was going on. We took the car back to the shop, and he was able to confirm his suspicion right away. A little over an hour later, he had me go back out on the road with him to see if the problem was fixed. Immediately, we both knew it had been, but he took at least 15 minutes to be sure. It’s been over 30 years since I’ve had a mechanic actually offer to drive my vehicle to get a hands-on feel of the issue. Luis did so not once, but twice, to be sure of things. I was (am still) blown away by his customer service, and his expertise. And his pricing was also beyond extremely fair, especially since I was basically at his mercy. Driving by yourself in the desert comes with some potential risks. But let me tell you this; if you’re in the Mojave Desert near the town of Mojave, and your vehicle has a problem, God has an angel there disguised as a mechanic at Salmex Auto. And his name is Luis Guzman. ✝️

I got stranded there in Mojave about a month ago. One of those worst case scenarios. I arrived after 5 o'clock so all shops where closed. I took my car in for examination the next morning. Long story short. I didn't get it fixed there. It was a 3 day job and I decided to haul it back 300 miles home. The mechanics at Salmex gave me options on what I could do. Knowing i was far from home and in a tough situation , they could have taken advantage of me and lied to me about the work that was needed. Yet they didn't, they gave me options which one ofcourse was to have it fixed there , if the job wasn't something that took 3 days I absolutely would have gotten it fixed there. They didn't take advantage of my situation and they were noble enough to still assist me with alternative options. They weren't trying to hustle me knowing I wasn't from the area. They had great service and proved to be honest people.

Chugged into Mojave Ca, with my check engine light on. SalMex had a diagnostic and estimate for me in about 5 minutes!! I smoothly rolled out, back on the road in about an hour with a new 6th cylinder coil and a couple of spark plugs! Awesome price, Awesome service, and Really Cool shop! Old Air Force Hanger/“Hut”!

I highly recommend this company. Our car broke down during our travel to Death Valley. They started working on it as soon as we got there and the problem was fixed in about an hour. Price was also very reasonable. Great place!

I live in California City and we have no mechanic in town right now that does big jobs. My engine in my Honda exploded and I took it to Luis and the crew and they worked magic !!! Found a replacement engine removed my blown one And installed the replacement within a couple of weeks !! Had a small issue with the Honda the day after picking up the car and took it back to SalMex the next day and Luis Let me use a loaner vehicle for the day and now today no issues with the car at all and these guys do it all in one shop !!!… you can’t find good mechanics that would go the distance for you just to make things right !!…thank you again Luis !!!…God bless !!…que Dios te bendiga !!

Louis at Salmex is the man. I was driving through Mojave from Mammoth and hit a piece of metal. Car stopped working immediately after. I was able to get my car towed to Salmex and he fixed the damaged engine oil tray as fast as he could. Highly recommend anyone that has car issues to bring their vehicles to Salmex

We had an oil sensor fail coming down the mountain and took a chance on one of the two mechanic shops that came up in a search nearby. The owner and his team jumped into action to help us get back on the road. Seeing that we were a family on a road trip with an urgent issue, they not only helped us right away, but gave us great service and a reasonable price. Everyone was super friendly and the bathroom was even clean for a mechanic shop! Highly recommend!

5 star! We had a slow leak in our tyre in the middle of a road trip with many hundred more miles to go. The guys at Salmex quickly reviewed things and found the offending screw. In under 30 minutes, they helped to plug and inflate our tyre and sent us on our way. All for under $20! We gave them a huge tip for their efficiency, good cheer, and great service. Truly guardian angles!

This is one of the best shops I've been fortunate enough to find in my travels. Luis and crew clearly know their business, and were able to resolve what could have become a major issue with a preventative minor repair. They were professional, courteous, and honest, and got me back on the road quickly. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone in the Mojave area needing mechanical assistance!

The other week we were Mammoth bound for my 50th bday. Our alternator went out about 8 miles from Mojave. We got a tow to Salmex. Louise was so awesome. He assured me that when we got there, he'd drop everything to work on our car. He immediately drove to Lancaster to pick up the needed part while he had another guy start pulling out the old one which is an hour process. Louise dropped our family of 4 and dog off at The Denny's across the highway where we waited. I'm happy to report we did make it to Mammoth that night and I was so thankful to not be stranded. His prices were very fair too. Big thumbs up!

While on a recent visit to Mojave I was unlucky enough to have a rock rupture my oil tank and disable my car. Luis went above and beyond to help me get back on the road! He came up with several options for the repair and provided me with photos of the damaged parts. I drive a ridiculously impractical car so obviously the part had to be ordered in. The minute the part arrived Luis and crew went to work and delivered my car back to my hotel THE VERY SAME DAY!!!! In my 30+ years on the road I have seldom encountered an auto mechanic as honest and capable as Luis! I wholeheartedly recommend his shop and wish he’d move to Seattle so I could give him all my business!

The motor in my fuel pump went out while I was hundreds of miles from my destination and I got towed to Salmex Auto Repair. Luis was in the process of moving locations and had other vehicles to work on, but he understood my emergency and replaced the fuel pump. He showed me what he was doing and helped me understand how to troubleshoot my truck. He was very kind and honest, best mechanic experience by far.

Extremely helpful. The AAA tow truck driver suggested I bring my car to this location. I dropped it off on a Sunday which was really helpful. And he was finished in a matter of days. Very reasonable priced and friendly. I couldn't pick it up till Sunday a week after and he was very accommodating. Hopefully I won't have to come back but if i did I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get good work done. Also gave me a 90 warranty.

I was recently on a trip and had a cracked radiator. I was referred to this shop by some friendly gas station attendants. There I met Luis he told me he could have me back on the road with a new radiator in under 3 hours I was thrilled to say the least. After completing the work the fee was very affordable for the work and amount of time it took to be done. I would highly recommend this shop for any auto fixes.

We were driving to a vacation and our rental car broke down near this repair shop. It was the only one within miles. Luis Guzman very cheerfully helped us by driving the car around and then hooking it up so he could determine what was wrong with it. He knew he was not going to be able to fix it due to the rental car status, and he didn’t even try to suggest as much. He helped us anyway. Luis Guzman is a great mechanic with strong instincts. Engine overheated en route from Vegas to Oakland. He let it cool down, looked into it, got me safe to drive again, and didn't even want to charge me for his time. He just asked me to leave a review. There's also a nice team dynamic there. It was cool to see him communicate across the shop and another mechanic he's teaching show up to lend a hand. He also taught me a bit along the way, which I'm always thankful for.
