I needed a catalytic converter on my 2000 Toyota echo. I went thru the state smog program CAP. I first took it to California Auto Care around the corner and Miguel the owner started the paperwork and said I would be charged to smog it if the dealer didn't carry the catalytic and never suggested to replace it with an after market brand which it is available. I called the dealer and it was discontinued. I went next door to Action Auto Inc. Brett the manager was very polite and honest. We went thru the process. He found a replacement and called me various times to infor me about the progress and to get my approval with the final payment. The job was done within days and I'm very happy with there work.

A big THANK YOU! to Brett and the guys at Action Auto. They adjusted the front coil-overs (another shop in Cypress said they were not adjustable), installed new rear springs, and did an alignment on our Lexus GX. We took the GX on a 5,000 mile road trip through Utah, Idaho, Wyoming right after the work was done. The extra clearance was necessary for our travels on dirt and snow to capture eagles, hawks, and falcons in action. The vehicle was perfectly aligned for the long drives at 85 mph.

Great service! Everyone there is incredibly helpful and explains everything in such a nice way. Makes going to the mechanic so much less stressful

I came here for smog 2 weeks ago. The smog result came failed because I recently changed the car battery. No check engine light. So the guy told me that I can come back once I drive the car for 100 miles or more. So it was cool not until the guy told me that there is a new state law that every time you get smog in there location now that they would charge the initial fee. And that I have to pay again once I get back. I called some other location for smog and all 3 say they don’t charge to retest the car within the specific timeframe. I’ve been coming here for couple years now to get my smog for all our cars but now it feels this place is untrustworthy. Totally rip me off $56.75. NO I wouldn’t recommend this place for smog anymore!

⭐ 1-Star Review This one star review isn’t about anger. It’s about alignment. If you can’t handle clarity, you’re not ready for customers who bring it. Came prepared. Left unimpressed. Pulled up Monday @ 9AM, with a clear ask & clear mindset. Already knew the fluids my car needed. Asked for a simple drain and fill labor only. No parts, no flush, no upsell. What I got was a sales script. At one point he asked, “Did you get it from the dealer?” — like that had anything to do with the job. Felt like I was being handled, not helped. Whole vibe was off — typical Monday pressure energy, but I didn’t accept it. I wasn’t rude. I was focused. When it was clear this wasn’t going to be a clean transaction, I said: “I reject your opinion.” And I walked out. Calm. No emotion. Just done. That same day, I found a different shop. They listened, respected the prep, and got it done for $150 flat. No games. Looking at the 4.5 rating and 370+ reviews, I thought this place would be solid. And for smog, oil changes, and basic mechanic work, maybe it is. But when a prepared customer walks in with a clear ask and specific requirements, that same system doesn’t hold up. This isn’t drama. It’s documentation. You don’t earn customers by talking over them. You earn them by matching their clarity and getting the job done.

Thanks to the entire team at Action Auto. They continue to provide exceptional service. They were highly recommended back in 2014 and I've been bring my company vehicles here from Costa Mesa and my personal vehicles here from Laguna Niguel ever since.

Not the best experience! Went on Yelp asking for a shop that would align my son’s 63 vw, days later they replied saying they could do it. Called to confirm, they said yes just let us know when you’re coming. Called to get an estimate and the gentleman issuing estimate quoted some ridiculous price which I questioned; reply was; it’s an old car….OK, not convinced but let’s do it I guess. Made an appointment 5 days in advance. Short time after, I received a text with a lower price, still high, but better! Showed up to my appointment at 815am, was greeted nicely, establishment looks presentable, looking good. Called after 2pm asking for status, same gentleman at the front said just got done with lunch it’s really busy you’re next. Hmm! Called at 4pm, and was told car just got on the rack, should be done by 5! (Why make an appointment if you’re gonna take all day anyway) Get a call at 430 saying some parts were stripped and asked if I wanted to replace? I agreed, was verbally quoted an extra $100 or so, was sent a text with an estimate, my fault for not looking, however view on the phone is deceiving, turns out an extra $330 were added in parts and labor. I assumed it was total with the $180 I had already approved for the alignment, made sense being told it would be about $100 or so more. Car was not done until 10am the following morning. When I showed up the next morning to puck up the car, I questioned the quote and was told I approved it l…..with an attitude, told me he did free labor, really? Not what the final price labor and parts showed. I did approve, again my fault Long story short, labor is probably OK, time will tell, mark up on parts is ASTRONOMICAL. My 18 year old son who the car belongs to even questioned the astro cost. Ended up splitting the bill with him as I should have picked up in this. Reception/cashier gentlemen needs some polishing…..also understand it’s an auto repair shop and not Nordstrom. I do have to give KUDOS to the mechanic that called me to give a status after I had called twice looking for updates. Sincere and professional, wish I had asked for his name!

Nice lobby and professional, but Action Auto quoted me for replacing calipers, rotors and pads and would not offer a lower cost option. Very polite and showed me the old rotors were very rusted and unevenly worn. Went to another shop and they quoted less than half the price and not replacing calipers. I checked with the other shop whether the calipers needed to be replaced and they insisted I did not need to replace them. Now the brakes are working well and no rubbing issues without replacing the calipers. I'll keep an eye on them. So I recommend looking for other shops if you have a limited budget or need to save money.

I don't understand how this business has 4.5 stars on Google—they are dishonest! They charge premium prices for installing low-quality parts while demonstrating poor workmanship. They recently replaced my radiator and thermostat with supposedly "premium parts" and charged me $1,295. Today, I took my Jeep to the dealer, who informed me that Action Auto had not only installed poor-quality parts but also used incorrect hose clamps, brackets, and thermostat. The thermostat was completely defective, remaining closed and preventing proper engine cooling. Furthermore, when I picked up my Jeep from Action Auto, they claimed I needed to spend an additional $2,000 to replace the radiator fan because it wasn't working and the Jeep would continue overheating. The dealer discovered that Action Auto had simply failed to purge the air from the system—a standard procedure when replacing a radiator. Don't waste your money with these dishonest mechanics. Spend the extra time and money to have your car professionally repaired at a reputable shop. As the saying goes, "Buy cheap, buy twice." I learned my lesson and regret ignoring the red flags when I first approached them for a diagnostic.

I brought my work van in thinking I potentially had a major issue. They asked a few questions, and from the information I gave them they told me I’d be fine to keep driving it instead of being greedy and just coming up with any repair to get money out of me. There’s plenty of shops who would have told me anything to make a quick dollar but they were honest.

Careful with this place. I took my truck in for a brake job and was convinced to have the parking brake shoes replaced because “I want to do a thorough job” was told. After receiving my truck back, the park brake pedal went straight to the floor. They didn’t even check for proper operation after repairs. I was charged 150 extra for these shoes. When I asked why they didn’t check, I was told “You would think they would have checked” WTH. Some answer. It’s your shop, I’d hope they would check their work. Who knows if they even replaced them? After talking to them, they wanted me to bring this back in, waste more of my time. I’m not going to do that, what if they screw up my brakes? They should just refund my 150. Keep this in mind when exploring critical work with these guys.

I brought my car in for a smog check. The staff made sure I was taken care of quickly. I didn't have to wait long, but they also have a very nice waiting area with drinks, snacks, and entertainment. Overall, I was very satisfied with how everything turned out.

Quick and responsive, I called in and asked for a quote. Jesse helped me out and I got my car in on the same day and they got the work done. Great price, great work. Will definitely come here for future needs.

Very professional and always do great work. Brett is always helpful and explains everything to make it easy to understand. Their new system for estimates makes it simple to see what needs repairs, and you can approve and decline things without any confusion. They always go above and beyond to make sure your car is running like it’s new.

I have been coming to Action Auto.for 10 years. The people are great and very polite. I am alone and my sons are in the military so I always call them for advice before I come. If I ask them to talk to my sons who could be overseas they do not hesitate. The work has alway been exceptional and they do not hesitate to try and be helpful. We all know being a woman and not knowledgeable about cars puts us at risk. I have never felt like they were taking advantage of me. I have been speaking to the owner who was very friendly and treated me with respect and is a great person. Over the years I talk to Brett Heskett so helpful . I am real quick to complain. But I also feel we should recognize a good business and good people Don’t take my word for it, try it yourself one visit is all it takes. Thanks you Marjorie Schultz

Can't say I have faith in this shop. They returned my car from an inspection & service engine light diagnosis with the maf sensor backwards and a clamp missing causing it to completely stall when I tried to pick it up near closing. I couldn't even drive it away. They left me worried sick overnight and went home without helping me or calling the technician that worked on my car. Then their code diagnosis tried to tell me my thermostat was throwing a code and I might overheat my car. When I went to investigate for myself, there was no code. I addressed the one code I had, and the service engine light went off. So I very much question the honesty of that. So.. when I read other 1 star reviews on Google reviews and yelp about people's cars being worse off than when they came, I can say I relate and believe them because that was my experience here. While they seemed outwardly courteous and professional, I had a terrible experience that felt completely off-- my gut tells me they were trying to take advantage and scare me into unnecessary work and if they weren't, then they just did a plainly terrible job that I wouldn't recommend anyone to come here. Sure felt fishy though.

Engine shield was half off. Super noisy and dangerous when driving around. Checked several places, and luckily met Mr. Brett Heskett, the manager at auction auto cypress. He was very patient, professional and friendly, which gave me much confidence to work with them. After lifting and checking my car, they found the issue was not too bad and could be easy to fix, so they honestly told me the truth and by that time they had fixed it already! Even more surprising, they charged me ZERO!!! They are not just a business, they are our friendly neighbors in Cypress. I will tell my neighbors and friends go to Auction Auto Cypress for sure! Brett, you gained another loyal customer, with his neighbors and friends! Thank you!

I bring my families vehicles here, and have never been disappointed. They are honest, understanding, and best of all they do solid work. I have brought my vehicle in with only concerns and they have never tried to take my money for no reason. If nothing is wrong nothing is wrong. Paper work is smooth, easy to read, and fully detailed. Can't ask for anything better. I recommend to all of my family and friends to give this place a try.

As you enter, you will notice that the waiting room is super clean with comfortable seating & free snacks. Everyone is super busy, but still very friendly. The gentleman that took care of me was Jesse. Jesse went above and beyond to make sure that every single problem was resolved to my satisfaction. No job was too big, or too small for Jesse. Nowadays,it is hard to find honest, experienced mechanics like these guys. They also have great coupons for people like me who loves a discount. These guys truly care about customer service!

1. Overcharged for alignment 2. No printout of alignment specs 3. Rear alignment was off 4. Alignment should never have been done because the front left suspension was bottomed out. The Action Auto nightmare started when I needed an alignment for my 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 after hitting a large pothole. The car pulled to the left and I was worried something was damaged. I called Action Auto and got a quote from the manager Brett for $130 to do a 4 wheel steering alignment on my lowered vehicle. I explained over the phone that the rear steering rack needs to be disconnected and adjusted in order to do this alignment. He said "Sure we do a lot of these cars we know how to do it". This turned out not to be true. They don't take appointments so I had to go in early and wait about a half hour before they put the car on the rack. I told Brett I hit a pothole and feared something was damaged. They checked The suspension over and said everything looked "ok." However, they missed one crucial issue, the driver's side front coilover locking ring had come loose and the coilover was bottomed out! That means the left front wheel was an inch and a half lower than the rest of the car! Half way through the alignment, Brett comes out and says he needs to charge me an extra $60 because he had to disconnect the rear arms. This was already discussed over the phone and the price was quoted $130. This is a red flag when half way through the alignment, after your car is already on the alignment rack, the manager increases the price! There was no mention there might be an extra charge BEFORE the alignment. Also they didn't know the location of the front camber adjustments. This was red flag number two. At the end Brett prints me a bill for $195, yes $5 more than he told me. When I asked for a printout of the before and after alignment machine specs, he said "the printer was broken." I drove the car home and checked the camber adjustments in the front. One side was completely maxed out, and the other was in the middle. I then stepped back and realized the car was leaning to the left! I called Brett right away and he said to bring the car back in. When I did, that's when I checked the front coilover and found the issue. It was completely bottomed out!!! The rear was out of alignment as well which is why Brett didn't want to give me a printout. They disconnect the rear arms and redid the rear alignment a second time. I watched the tech do it this time and it took him only 10 minutes to perform this extra step which I was charged over $100 for! I feel I was taken advantage of by Brett and overcharged for an alignment that never should have been done. They should found out right away that the left side of the car was over one and a half inches lower than the right side. I ended up having to completely redo the alignment again at another shop. Andy's Alignment did an excellent job and was almost $100 cheaper!
