Magical experience. 4 night, 3 day stay in Room 12 (twin bed for a single guest). Highly recommend for solo guests wanting creature comfort. The room was cozy, cool, and super comfortable. Loved the proximity to the bathhouse and the creek — falling asleep to the gentle flow of the creek was a highlight of the trip. The grounds, greenery, tubs and pools, and kitchen are tended with care. The office hosts, Jaimie and Syd, are lovely and helpful. Couldn’t have asked for a more joyful experience.

Orr Hot Springs is one of my favorites. However, keep in mind that like many other hot springs, Orr is clothing optional. Some of the buildings seem a bit worn down. But the springs are nice. There's also a sauna, hot tub and a swimming pool. There's a decent community kitchen and food storage area. Parking is limited near the entrance. But it's an easy walk from the parking lot across the road. I haven't stayed overnight. So I can verify what the rooms are like. But the tent sites look level and nicely secluded.

102 degrees outside? Yurt is literally 66 degrees with no air conditioning WOW. Came here to get a break from work with my girl and it was so pleasant that we’re already contemplating another stay and we just left. Get a yurt if you can help it. Pack enough food for your stay because the closest food is 30-45 minutes away. It’s a retreat for sure, no cell phone service and no worries.

I love my stay there. The yurt I booked is clean and nice, surrounded by tall trees and bushes. I had a great time enjoying the different hot tubs, the hot steamed room, the swimming pool. The stargazing experience was the highlight of my evening--soaking in a tub gazing at the stars, I was able to see the galaxy and that reminds me of some beautiful childhood memories. Everyone I met there was friendly, including Sid, who checked me in, and another man who was cleaning the swimming pool and introduced to me how they pump spring water and heat the tubs. However, everything was perfect until the moment I was about to depart. I packed all my items from my yurt and the kitchen by 12. After moving them to my car, I went back to take a look at the place for one more time and wanted to say goodbye to Sid at the office and ask if there's anything I need to do at the office to check out. It was around 12:20pm. I went into the office and found a lady at the reception desk. I didn't see her shen checking in but I figured she is a staff. I said hi to her and asked if there's anything else I need to do before I leave. But to my surprise, she sounded mad at me and emphasized that "you need to leave this property by noon." I was shocked and confused for a second, then she repeated this one more time, "You are supposed to leave THIS PROPERTY by noon!" I said ok of course, and I left. I felt very frustrated that the last moment of my stay at the resort is a cold and even slightly angry command asking me to leave immediately. Even talking about rules, from the website, the notes in my room, and what I was told at check-in, guests are supposed to check out of the Bathbouse by 10am and their rooms by noon. I had never told I had to get out of the PROPERTY by noon. Anyways, the 20-minute's "overstay" at the property made me have mixed feelings for this place. I am still processing my emotions for this place now and not sure if I will go there again.

I’ve just returned from the 2.5 hour drive from Oakland to Orr for the second time. This place is pure magic! They offer all kinds of accommodations including camping platforms, yurts, cabins, and the creek house cottage. I prefer the cabins because they come with a private bathroom, kitchen, dining room, and bedroom; perfect after a long soak in the hot springs and you want the comforts of home while in a rustic environment. Not having service or WiFi is a huge plus because it’s truly a nervous system reset not being distracted by notifications or the urge to doom scroll social media. The other attractive features include preparing your own meals. I love to cook and having fun making comfort food and eating outside with other guest is a great way to decompress and do people things like talk about the weather and share stories of past adventures. The community kitchen has tools not found in the cabins so check it out, preparing ingredients on the large counters then cooking in the cabin is a fun way to hybrid your experience. I recommend driving down the way and walking the trails of Montgomery Woods. It’s an extremely quiet place and has the most prehistoric feel and breathtaking perspectives of ancient redwood trees far from the ocean (it’s unique, look it up) that survived a fire with the scars to prove it. The plaques throughout the forest will inform you of its history and the people who influenced its preservation. After a good long hike around the forest, the bathhouse is the best next destination. Disrobe to your comfort level (it’s clothing optional), rinse off at the communal showers, then step into one of the many pools or amenities. The hottest pool has the water fall and is closest to the showers, the second pool is cooler for those who need to gradually enter hot water or cool off from the hot pool. The swimming pool is cooler and refreshing. The single pool connected to it is comfortable and warm. The steam room and dry sauna are in the back and have special hours, are clean, and well maintained. The personal tubs scattered around the bathhouse are nice and hot, perfect for night time soaks. NOTE: you can soak alllll night if your choose. They close the doors from 10am to 12pm everyday so a 3:14am soak isn’t unheard of. The view of the starts at night is breathtaking, especially in a mineral hot spring personal tub on the observation deck. I count the satellites and shooting stars I can see when I’m soaking and you should give it the old try too. Overall, this is a true natural gem ?

I have visited Orr Hot springs about 7 times in the last 25 years...and it is an absolutely beautiful property... and I fully support ALL HUMAN RIGHTS!|I tried to book a visit last weekend but couldn't because the manager said "the line is always busy..." NOT TRUE...then they said to call, but they never pick up phone - then tried email but they failed there too||The customer service here by Airi the Manager has deteriorated to an Appalling state... They have problems with the phones apparently... but it is totally unprofessional and dysfunctional to NOT HAVE A 100% FULLY FUNCTIONAL PHONE SYSTEM, INCLUDING TRAINED USERS OF THOSE PHONES...||It is unfortunate that such a beautiful place is run by someone who is unqualified to be a Hotel Manager ...

Orr Hot springs is a magical, peaceful, healing, and humble place! This property is so calming and nurturing. It's nestled in a tiny valley, cradled by beautiful trees and blending into wildlife. There are many different soaking options depending on your mood and desires. The communal kitchen is well equipped and clean. Their system is impeccable! I felt so safe and relaxed here, giving me the full nervous system reset I needed.

Easy booking. They only allow a limited number of people, so never too crowded. Steam room and large pool are great. Great description and what is and isn't available. No food available. Bring your own. Kitchen has all dinner and cookware. Very Relaxing. No electronics allowed around pools.

I’ve stayed at Orr twice, once traveling alone and seeking a solo meditative retreat, and once with my wife for a romantic escape. Both great experiences. The resort is in a very tranquil and naturally beautiful location, with a very mellow and reserved clientele. No internet, no cell signal, nowhere to be, no tasks to do. Spent literally hours soaking in the hot springs meditating and relaxing --- just what we needed. During the two hours per day when the pools are being cleaned, we ambled through the stunning old growth redwood forest just minutes up the road. Later that day we also drove an hour on a winding road through the hills to walk the stunning Mendocino Headlands at sunset. The resort is in a uniquely beautiful area. The kitchen is communal, and amply stocked with everything you need except food, so stop at a grocery store on the way there. Note that the hot springs bathhouse and pools are separated from the rest of the camp resort by a couple of bridges with gates, and within the hot springs area just about everyone is soaking in nothing but their own beautiful god-given skin. A very respectful, nonjudgemental, meditative atmosphere prevails, and folks mostly keep to themselves, move slowly, and speak softly. If you are looking for a party ... move along ... nothing to see here. In sum, the resort is perfect for people who appreciate tranquility, relaxation, human beauty without pretense, all in a remote and naturally lovely setting.

Such a magical place! Beautiful and so relaxing. Having a full kitchen in which to cook was a huge bonus. I loved the tubs that were pretty much the perfect temperature. Be sure to book in advance. We camped by the river and it was COLD but so peaceful. The water smells like sulfur and there's no food on site, so bring your own to prepare in their kitchen. They have a fridge and pantry to keep your food items in.

Unfortunately I wont be able to tell you about the place because the service is so poor I never got there. I saw online that I needed to make a reservation for my teenager, mother and I over the phone since my daughters under 18. I called multiple times every day for a week and no one answers the phone! Ever! They’d call back but I was at work and not immediately available. The day before we had planned to go they said they were fully booked (they hadn’t been all week). Really poor service. They operate a business and need to answer the phone.

The whole place could use a face lift (eg there are tears/stains on the ceilings)but in some ways the rustic/old feeling is part of the charm. The place is very small and set in a magical, verdant nook between mountains. The hot springs offer different temperature pools and a sauna but be warned that it does smell pretty strongly of sulfur. Enjoyed the nearby hike in the redwoods.

Orr is a special special place. Firstly there is no WiFi or cell service (thankfully) so this place offer real respite from the physical and digital world. The communal kitchen is fully stocked, be sure to get all you need before you come! 24 hour access to the tubs and springs, except for the maintenance hours of 10am-12pm. So beautiful! Clothing is optional, it’s mainly nude. There’s a game room with some fun games, guitars to play, and dining areas (inside and outside.)

This place grew on us over the two days. The check in isn’t the best experience to leave a good first impression. It was a bit too military style; the not so warm lady sits you down and reels off in rapid pace a long spiel of what’s what with rules of which we remembered nada and were a little scared to ask for a repetition. The setting really is beautiful and the most attractive part. It’s surrounded by redwoods and has a lovely trail a mile up the road. The cottages are basic but the beds are comfy and we liked having our own toilet. We were not so in love with the communal kitchen, it was too small (if you have been to Wilbur this kitchen pales in comparison). I guess the thing that frustrated us the most was that the baths are closed for cleaning at 10am-12, Especially since on check out day you have to be out by noon. I love that there are no electronics and no one is on their phones , but found it a little much when the lady said no kindles at the pools when it’s just reading. We did love the single bath experience and found it very private and relaxing before bed. We wished the bigger pool was the more heated one as the other two pools that were hot could get kinda cramped. All in all we would go back, maybe the lady will be a little more mellow.?

a unique resort unlike any other. serene environment lush with trees, moss; fairytale-like. comfortable & quiet accommodations, large kitchen filled with everything you'd need to make a meal. multiple tubs to soak including 2 rooftop tubs, a large cold pool, sauna & steam room. there's also private rooms with tubs, but everyone is respectful & they won't tolerate anything less on the property. my most favorite place i only wish i could go more often! I'd like to stress the fact that if you stay in a cabin & like to sleep past 9am, a yurt might be a better option. i stayed recently & was woken up both mornings lol. my only complaint. i don't remember that ever being an issue before, but it definitely was this last visit! yurts are " stand alone" so you won't hear neighbors, but you'll lose the bathroom. i wish there was a better option & it might affect me wanting to stay again in the future.

I travelled to Orr Hot Springs with my partner and our 2 friends. We purchased a day pass ($50!) and enjoyed the various tubs and pools all day long. The facilities felt clean and well maintained. Amazing kitchen, a cozy cabin setting to enjoy lunch, stunning Northern California nature, and adorable cats! Will definitely come back

It has been seven years since I spent my Thanksgiving day there. Soaking in their tubs is such a rewarding and replenishing experience. The water in Orr is the best out of all the hot springs I have been to. I enjoyed a great Massage and love the Private tub rooms below the deck. It is a destination to check and spend a lot of time in the nursing water to the body of a busy woman….

Orr hot springs is such a beautiful location and the facilities are great. The customer services has been consistently rude in the 15 plus years I’ve been going there. The accommodations are really overpriced, and they make it really difficult to afford with a 2 and sometimes 3 night requirement. Not the biggest deal, but their website is and has always been horrible and not user friendly. Kind of feels like more trouble and money than it’s worth most of the time. If you’re rich and don’t mind the snarky receptionist, go for it!

I found this place while searching for a spot to break up my long drive. I booked a campsite since I had just finished a backpacking trip and had all my gear so I'm not sure about the rooms but the campsite was great. Customer service was awesome. The hot springs were perfect after my backpacking trip. I was able to lounge around, dip in the springs, read a bit, and not have to put clothes on. All the other guests were super friendly. If you don't want to talk to anyone else, they get the hint, and when you want to be social, you can find others who want to chat also. They had a nice kitchen area where you can store your food and cook your meals. I will definitely be going back. At first I thought $80 for a campsite was steep but it includes all day access to the springs, a cold plunge, sauna, etc. So I'd pay it again for sure. Sid was cool, the cats (Sherlock and Watson) were my buds, and the other workers (I forgot all their names) were cool too. In fact I'm already planning my next trip.

I can see how this place could be hit or miss for some folks, but we had a wonderful stay. We arrived late and had the soaking area all to ourselves. The man who checked us in, Sid, was pleasant and helpful. Everything was quaint, pretty clean, charming. The grounds were exceptionally well-maintained (even the luggage carts were lined up, neatly; smoking area a literal zen garden); the communal kitchen was spotless the night before, thanks to staff efforts. Bathrooms were shared and a bit more primitive. The only shower access was in the soaking area, which was closed 10am - 12pm. There was a cat presence, which we loved, but, not everyone will. Overall: a great place to get away, relax, recharge. Know what to expect and plan accordingly.

A well established property with lovely water and a nice pool. The sauna was down during our visit, a bummer as we've come to enjoy dry heat. The steam room was good and the cold plunge was conveniently right there. The website explains things quite well. |We found the staff helpful and friendly. There are a few popular outside tubs and deck spaces. You might find that they become occupied by guests that camp out most of the day in these spots. There is plenty of space you can enjoy, just a little disappointing these guests do not seem inclined to move around once in a while. But that seems pretty typical at our Northern California hot spring locations. The vibe here is good, mostly nude, (in the pool areas) very respectful. Our room was as described, clean and comfortable. Lovely grounds and landscaping with plenty of spots to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. The kitchen is nice and everyone was very friendly while using it. A perfect get away for the two of us. We will be back. If you get a chance, visit the nearby Montgomery Woods State Nature Preserve . There are some spectacular redwood trees there. |We visited during the week, wasn't too crowded.

Firstly, I must state that the staff at Orr are the rudest and most racist I have encountered in my 40 years of travel. The elderly lady with dreads and a chubby man with glasses (Trevor? Trent? Something like that) made my multicultural group feel unwelcome from the moment we arrived. They insisted that we pay an extra fee to cover one guest (after an already exorbitant ~$400 for a 2 night stay), charged us for every towel we used, and followed us around the property *while we were paying guests* berating us for having wine or laughing too loudly. The rooms are old, basic campground-like structures you might have stayed in at summer camp back in the 90s. Sheets and paid-for towels are threadbare, mattresses are used. The final straw-- when it was time to check out, the woman with dreads again followed us as we were packing up to tell us she would be calling the police because we were late checking out! It was such an unfortunate experience because the area is beautiful and the hot springs are a wonderful idea, but with the negative and hostile energy from the staff, we were happy to leave and never return. We've also warned our extensive circles in Northern CA who wanted to visit these springs about our very negative experience and have successfully dissuaded others from supporting this organization by spending money there. Overall rating: F--

What else can be said!? This place is totally awesome! The waters heal your body and soul. The live steam room or dry sauna with cool pool is such a great combo! The individual claw foot tubs are sooo peaceful! I cannot wait to return! ? I give THANKS to the wonderful staff maintaining this beautiful sanctuary ?

Very relaxed place in a tranquil setting. The hot springs are so relaxing ! The garden is very well tended, Buddha statues give a meditative athmosphere with a bit of Hippie nostalgia. There were some elder ladies, who were very relaxed about the clothing-optional rules in the bath, some of the under-40s seemed less relaxed, no eye contact, no 'hello' - I found that amusing. 260 $ looks steep for the basic no-frills rooms with communal restrooms and showers, but the upkeep of the Garden and bath is costly and they don't have that many rooms.

It's beautiful and so peaceful being here. Everyone is nice and helpful. Being here was my first time being naked in public, but it wasn't bad. Now, at night, the people were giving cult vibes, lol. However, the grill worked fine. The water was more hot at night than the day. However, it was still hot. The swimming pool definitely came in handy to cool down during the hot day. my boyfriend and I were able to fit in the tubes, but if you want a certain spot, you need to be quick more people come out at night.

The place is great as usual. Hot spring pools big and small from very hot to warm. The rooms are great and clean the only note is on the mattress is so old a and concave me and my husband kept getting in the middle of it at night and my back hurt a lot everyday. Next time we are going to camp. Everything else is a dream. Go hike during the day at Montgomery state park. A magical forest

So much peace & quiet. The staff was helpful & friendly (especially Sid). The hot springs pools were amazing. The grounds were lovely & tranquil. Our yurt was comfortable, as well as rustic. Made many new friends, including the resident cats, Sherlock & Watson. Can't wait to go back again.
