Stopped by the La Mirada location several weeks ago on a Monday. Explained to them that I was having trouble with my transmission and that I wanted to have it looked at. I explained that I am burning transmission fluid that there is a line leaking that it is shifting hard and making funny noises. I explained to them that I'm an Uber driver and don't have the luxury of leaving my car at the dealer for 2 - 1/2 weeks before they could look to it. Leon's transmission came highly referred by my primary mechanic. When I talked to Ron on Monday he let me know that they would probably need 2 to 3 hours to look at it and determine what was going on and then get me back out on the road. When I arrived on Tuesday morning as scheduled I dropped off the vehicle, and waited for a call. After 6 hours I called them. I was told they drove it and everything was fine and the transmission didn't need any fluid. Ron advised me to take it back If it continues to leak and it continued to smell burning fluid. WHAT?? REALLY??? I clearly told Ron I saw the leaking line and that I could smell fluid burning. I have worked on cars before and clearly know the difference between oil burning and fluid burning. I am extremely disappointed with Leon's as I made it very clear what the problems were. Given their diagnosis and considering the length of time they kept my vehicle. I doubt very much that they even put it up on a rack to look at it. I'm not a "professional" mechanic but I clearly saw a line leaking and fluid dripping down the hard line. I was hoping to avoid taking my vehicle to the dealer and now it appears I may have no other choice. I will not trust my car to Leon's when they could not find an obvious leak after 6 hours. A good transmission shop should have found the leak just by putting my car up on a lift. A good transmission shop should have been able to hear how my transmission runs by driving it around. It feels to me like they did nothing but sit on my car for 6 hours and wasted my time. I would never refer anyone to this transmission shop. 8/5/25 update Took the Explorer to another mechanic, explained the issues I was having. He immediately put it up on a lift and within a few moments called me over to see it for myself. Showed me the transmission oil cooler was leaking and explained the trans fluid level was very low. After a few internet searches for a replacement cooler I learned this item was on factory recall. Unfortunately, it didn't apply to MY VIN. That's another issue I need to take up with Ford. The explanation the service/parts department gave me was lame. Stupid Ford!!! I have a new cooler and replacement fluid and I'm waiting for the mechanic to install it. NEVER trust Leon's Transmission Shop in La Mirada. 8/27/25 update Placed two follow calls to Jim A, the GM as he asked. Left TWO voicemail messages with my cell number in what I guess was a generic and unmonitored mailbox, I believe it was ext. 117. Not a single call back. Customer service is NOT their priority, sad.

Great job with my transmission full rebuild on 2017 Camaro with 65K. (don't buy Chevy, they SUCK) Very responsive quality service. Ron is a gem.

Was referred here by a friend, and I will say they did not disappoint. Dealt with Ron and he provided issues and resolutions, without trying to upsell or add any additional fees other than what the service called for. I would recommend this place 100%.

Ron seems efficient and helpful. This business has fair pricing. The replacement was 2500 less than dealership costs.

Horrible Horrible experience 😞 we paid close to 4 thousand dollars to get our transmission rebuild and had to take it back 3 times because it was leaking the transmission oil or they would leave the transmission loose. And now our mechanic told us the transmission is rattling so we took it back but they didn't want to fix it since we went over the miles they gave us for the warranty. Don't waste your money here unless you like going back and forth and being car less for days .

Had our transmission replaced and got our car back today highly recommend so far it's driving better than before fair priced compares to other places friendly service honestly felt welcomed and they stayed within budget even came out a bit cheaper than was told on the phone

I highly recommend Leon's transmission. I was greeted by Ron upon arrival, and he was very kind and explained all that would be done to my transmission. Picked up my car 1 week later, and it is running great.

This place is ATRA certified transmission center I’ve used this place for the last 12 years never a problem or comeback on there part they’ve notified me of other issues that can be a possible issue but workmanship has always been Phenomenal. Only problem I’ve had was they did not tighten a band clamp for my exhaust. I’ve sent several customers to them over the years I’ve never received a negative response. This place is on the pricy side I’ve never brought a trans back to have them overhaul it again I’ve had no problems since they’ve overhauled it the first time. Give Jim and Ron a call for your transmission needs.

I don’t understand how they have good reviews when even my first encounter with them was terrible. The guy there was really rude, he was talking to someone when I walked in and I thought they were both customers so I asked a technician who should I speak to about a quote, the tech said to go inside there should be someone there so I did. I asked the two men there if they worked there and one answered he did and he would be with me in a minute, so I waited. The other guy after a few minutes tells the employee to help me out and they could talk later (apparently it was a personal visit) they employee proceeds to say “no they can wait if they need help” the friend then says, “you should help them, we can talk after you’re done” the employee then looks at me and says, “NO! If they need help they can wait!” I didn’t even do anything I was waiting for them to help me so the disrespectful and condescending behavior wasn’t necessary. I wasn’t there to ask for free labor, I was there willing to wait. In turn I get treated that way? That’s not customer service.

Leon's was recommended to me and I gave them a try. They were patient and extremely helpful and took the time to answer all my questions. They were very professional and did a fabulous job on my 05 F350 Powerstroke... Price was fair I thought in line with other shops and they were a day earlier than promised in delivery! Truck runs beautiful now! And a 2 year NATIONWIDE warranty???? Comon man.. where are all the other shops doing this quality of work and guarantee these days! Thanks Ron and Jim!

Took my Mustang in, thinking I had a transmission problem. Within a couple of hours Ron called me a back with a diagnosis of a minor throttle problem - no transmission problem at all. And no charge for looking at it! Great place - if I do ever have transmission issues, I will definitely bring it here!

I went here cause it was recommended by a friend even though they were not certified through AAA. At first sounded good Ron said he would have an answer for me later that day as to what needs to be done. my phone service got turned off that day, and thinking he might have called I took the bus there the next morning only to find out they haven't even looked at it yet. I left saying I'm going to get my phone back on and call with my new number. after I did that a couple hours later Ron called and gave me a very high price. I told him that I won't be able to do it for that price and I'll have to come get the truck. Ron continuously made references to me that if I leave the truck here he'll have to have it towed away. he even said this to me when I brought the truck in. Ron said he was going to leave my key under the driver floor mat for me. Well the next day when I went there to get my truck the first thing I noticed was all the tires in the bed of my truck had been moved. then I noticed that most of the things that I had in the cab were thrown in the bed of the truck and the tires with rims were on top of everything. I CAN THINK OF NO REASON TO MOVE ALL THESE THINGS FROM THE REAR SEAT OF A CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD DURAMAX DIESEL WITH A CREW CAB OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, OR WHAT THE REASON WAS FOR MOVING THE TIRES FROM WHERE THEY WERE SECURED IN THE FRONT BED OF THE TRUCK. Because of this unnecessary act some of my things were damaged. Next time I'll listen to AAA. there must be a reason a company is not certified with AAA, especially a big company like this one. it's cause they can not meet there basic standards. lesson learned... the picture of the tires lined up is how I delivered my truck to them, the other pictures is how I received it.

I went in thinking I had transmission problem, they were honest and told me it was a wheel bearing. Much less costly ! I highly recommend this shop.

Inspected,replaced, and reprogrammed Transmission Control Module for the flat price given . No complaints. I came here because I felt comfortable with Ron over the phone I felt like he’d take care of me without any excuses or false solutions. Great service.

Jim and Ron. Great guys, very friendly, very professional. Fixed my transmission up and even though we had a couple of additional issues the next two days, they dug into them and resolved the matter. We are all good now with a great warranty. Will use again, but hopefully won't need to because they created a masterpiece transmission.

Had an appt today with Ron at 8:30 was their right on time told me by 10am would have a diagnosis done Well by 10: 15 am still hadnt even took my car in the shop and put on the rack had nothing but excuses but no results left very discouraged I will not be going back.No customer service no where to sit and wait. And I didnt feel welcome at all.

I truly felt welcome even tho my car wasn't fixed there, I felt like (Ron who I met once for about 5 mins), he was a fellow Christian brother in God. It's terrible I don't have money to pay for a new or used transmission

Wonderful service. I took my car in with the wrong transmission pan and they knew right away. Found the right pan after I search every where. Had my car fixed in not time. Awesome place and I would recommend them to anyone.

If you are looking for good honest people with the best customer service this is the place for you I have came across a lot of businesses that take your money but this place right here gives more they help you and work with you and it's hard to come across good-hearted workers thank you for everything you do and helping out the elderly I would recommend this place you guys are awesome 👍

Outstanding customer service from these guys. Ron is a solid dude and these guys do a really good job here. Saved me a lot of money and made sure my car was running right before just handing it back over. Would highly recommend!

I'm stuck at Excellent and Very Good. Customer Service, was OUTSTANDING. The man who I talked to (sorry I don't remember his name), made me feel right at home and talked to me like I was his friend. They both knew what they were doing and took pride in making sure they take care of my vehicle. I haven't received the vehicle back yet, been there since 2 days ago, so I'm sure I'll get the vehicle back today. No real communication after you leave the store, which is a little disappointing but unless they have other issues with it, there's no real reason to call me. I just wish I knew when I was getting it back. But yea, if there are any problems with it, I'll make another review, but honestly think these guys will do an amazing job with it. They made a great first impression.
