I stopped by to recycle e-waste and they took all my old home alarm sensors, broken lights and old sprinkler system for free. They did not take batteries or lightbulbs which I put on top of my home recycling can in separate ziplock bags.
I was disabled after having hip and shoulder surgery. They are so helpful especially Laura. She gathered my recycling and handled all the paperwork, she had me sign and brought me my cash. While I waited by my car. Thank you to the entire staff👍🙂
Refused to recycle multiple water bottles with very little water in it even after we emptied the bottles out. It wasn’t busy that day. The women talked badly about me and my spouse in Spanish and said they will give us less money than we were supposed to receive (I speak Spanish so I heard). Coming from a family of latino immigrants, it’s one thing to speak your native language to communicate and I fully support that but when it comes to speaking badly of customers, that is NOT okay, regardless of if you assume they speak the language or not.
Good prices for basic drink containers, and you don't have to separate tops from bottles like you do at other places. However, the guys working there are grumpy as heck and not kind. I get that it's a shitty job, but it's just as easy to be nice to people. I'd even tip them a few bucks if they weren't so rude to customers (even the old couple in front me got attitude from them for not sorting correctly). The women who give you money after your things are weighed are generally nice. The parking lot is a dirty PIA to navigate, and in the summer there is no shade while you wait your turn, which can be brutal cause it gets crowded. IDK why they only allow people to come in cars (no walk ups). It seems like it would be a solid way for a homeless person to earn a few bucks. They even tried to turn me away once when I had to park on the main road a ways down. They didn’t see me arrive in my car, so they assumed that I was homeless. I actually got approached by a worker telling me that I needed to leave until someone else told
him that they had seen my car. Very, very embarrassing!
The staff today let a bunch of people bring their things when they knew their “internet was down” and allegedly couldn’t give people their payments. I was told that if I wanted my bottles weighed instead of counted that they could do that. I put the bottles in one of their cans after which they laughed at me saying that they’re not going to pay me either way. Loaded it all up back into the boxes and put it in my car. Never coming back to this dump of crooks. They should have alerted people coming in that their system is down.
One of the good places to go and cash in your hard work recyclables and get ripped off . These people stole from me so much cash in my copper recyclables. Stockton , San Leandro and Richmond are the best places to go .they pay the best
Went here and met the nicest employee Manny who helped me out with a couple of things, most importantly he made me confident in the recycling ♻️ and payout process, because I was falling under the impression it was better to count you recyclables (up to the individual daily limits) rather than to weigh them but after a quick comparison it was the other way around. Thanks for taking the time to make me a confident recycling center customer. 5 stars returned with the rest of my recycling the same week. Will be back.
Things went pretty smoothly getting my recycling done. Parking was a hassle there was alot of people there. But over all it seemed to work out ok.... the only other thing is the guy seemed to weigh my stuff whenever I had my back turned which was weird, but what can you do. Also the line to get ur check was extremely long for what seems like a simple put it in the computer and print out the check sorta deal, but they actually opened a second window probably cause it was close to closing time and the employees wanted to get outta there asap. Anyways they still get 4 stars cause it got done, I got paid, and stuff got recycled. So hopefully it can be reused in the future on what idk but let's try to look on the bright side lol. This place works I have gone here many times for my home recycling and for work recycling and always just works sometimes there is a wait sometimes there isn't thats I guess just the way it goes. Recommend this place because it has never failed me where other recycling centers that have so to anyone reading my ramble this is a good place to go cause it just works and is straight forward. Thanks for reading my review
Go early
Staff is polite, but follow the rules for quickest service
Put glass bottles in their plastic bins, not plastic bags.
Same for cans - get through quicker
I'm very disappointed in this place. I showed up at 1:45pm on a Saturday and the worker refused to let me in. He kept saying they are closed and come back Monday then closed the gate in my face and walked away. Online it says they close at 2. I've always gone to this location, never have I been so disrespected. What happened to this place 🤯🤬
Poor customer service. Horrible attitude. They told me the window would be closed for 20 minutes and asked me to wait. They allowed a few more people to go before me but stopped me when it was my turn. The guy was almost yelling at me. He said 20 minutes, but I was still waiting after 30 minutes. When I told the rude guy 20 minutes had passed, he said, "Then 30 minutes." I ended up waiting 36 minutes. The update says the window would be closed till 12:45, but it was 12:55 when I was still waiting. The person who asked me to wait did not know how to talk to customers. Give him some training before he is allowed to work again.
They were very fast. Didn't take all that I brought...things have changed no aluminum foil or pans, no longer need to remove lids, etc. But very fast, couldn't ask questions because I've Always had a hard time with accents (my issue).
Like most remaining B&C recycling places, it is a very minimal operation; almost No onsite parking. Typically you will wait in line, in your car, on the street, around the block. They supply no receiving containers, so bring your recyclables segregated into ghetto luggage (large plastic trash bags).
Brought my 7 year old autistic son here so he could familiarize himself with recycling. The staff are not quite that helpful, you get to figure out where is the line to start and where to head next. They call out "Next" and then weigh your stuff and then to the window and done. The way its set up now, is better, you're in and out in no time. Any payments above $30 is given in a check.
Best place in the area to bring your recyclables. Any payout over $30 and they cut you a check instead of cash. A big plus is you're not required to take your caps off your plastic bottles.
It was super crowded , possibly because they are just opening post covid shut down. It took about 1.5 hrs to deposit my recycling including waiting in a long line of cars to get into the facility. Despite the crowd there were plenty of trollys and bins. They did not request seperating caps from bottles.
My boys and I have been bringing everything from our bottles & cans here, to old TVs and Christmas lights, for many years. The staff is always hard at work, very friendly, and eager to help. We use the money for gas and other expenses, and it really helps out. This facility seems to pay the best prices per pound, in this area. I recommend this place all of the time!
Place and service is fair. However, you usually wait in line for 1 hour. Also, they only accept 50 bottles per day. If you bring in more than 50 bottles, they will only count the weight. If they count the weight, you receive lower money than you should. In my situation, when I brought 50 bottles and they only counted the number of bottles, I was paid $2.50. On another day, when I brought 50 bottles and they only counted the weight, I was paid $1.66. The CA CRV states that we should receive the $2.50 but this business does it differently. You get paid less if you bring in more than 50 bottles.
Be very careful with thier carts they are old, very heavy and hard to manuver and they do not have brakes. The parking situation is awful. Staff is nice although I do not speak spanish so it makes communication difficult. They seem to pay well... But thete were times I feel I should have got the higber rate per pound and did not. Macy the gal at the cash window is a sweetheart.
The place is good, however, first time I realized something. I purchase lots of bottled water from Costco. $4.99 for 40 bottles, $2.00 out of which is CRV. I took 195 empty bottles for recycling today, expecting about $9.75 but received only $6.49. Wow! They count by the pound. If you want it counted by the number of bottles, you can recycle only 50 bottles each day, which means I will have to go there to recycle 4 different times, what a waste of time and gas. The other option is to get much less money when they count by the pound. I am paying a lot of money for water because I don't get all of my CRV back. Learned something new today, didn't realize this before.
So we did an experiment in recycling. I brought in a Jeep unlimited full of plastic bottles about 8 garbage cans worth. and revived about $30 than I brought in a jeep load of crushed aluminum cans and got $80. The average time according to google is 20 min . seems a bit more and i was waiting for a slow day to get in and out asap . I live close so 20 min there another 10 for parking driving there another 30 min both ways. I would say an hour and half for everything. This is ok but because storage also has a cost I am not going to bother. IMO
I just called about a check that i paid to be mailed to me . i was put on hold an noboby came to the back to the phone so i call on another phone and they pick up i said something the lady recognized my voice and hung up. Now the phone is busy . my check never made it to my house an he want to charge me 33 dollars to stop payment on a check they lost
Packed at 8am on a Saturday morning. Sucks how inconvenient it is has become to get CA CRV now but this place isn't awful. People in line were nice and so we're staff. Got paid in cash and was set in about 20 minutes.
This is a review of the staff at Concord Recycling's cardboard/metal recycling location. Being in the moving business, I need a place to recycle boxes and paper for free several times a week. I've been to other similar sites in the Bay Area but they just don't measure up to Concord Recycling. This place has been my pick for over a year now. The warehouse staff are very helpful and friendly. They direct you to the cardboard, paper or metal pile so it's super easy to get in and out quickly. Five stars!
It is a gritty, grungy place, but come on, it is a scrap yard not a pawn shop. They take all kinds of scrap metals (copper, aluminum, etc.), cans, glass bottles, plastic bottles, paper and cardboard. They have flat cars and garbage cans to help you unload your booty. Everything must be presorted. There can be a bit of a wait while they weigh your goods, then they give you a tag to take to the cashier. Some payments are deferred because of City Municipal Codes. The dirt bags poisoned the well on instant cash payments like back in the good 'ol days. Prices are based on daily spot market prices, just like fresh seafood at the butcher shop. Parking is tight and gritty but I have always found a spot. If you see screws, nails or broken glass in the lot, let them know and they will cheerfully clean it up. If you need any help or have a question, just ask. Many of the regulars try the patience of the staff, so please be polite and patient with the staff.
The parking lot is tiny, linear and hard to navigate, even with my subcompact car. It's often littered with various debris, including screws. That said, they give the best rebates, have a plethora of garbage cans and carts to load ones various debris, and have a smooth enough process for providing reimbursement funds. It helps to know a lil Spanish, too.
