I brought my car to Pitts with a problem on my 2012 Jeep Wrangler. As a college student from out of state who knows nothing about cars I was so upset that my car had a problem. Everyone at Pitts was extremely caring and helpful! They fixed my car within a few days and its driving like a dream now. Definitely a 10/10

Pitts was very accommodating when I was having a rough time on even where to get my car towed. Shali got me an appointment over the phone before my car was even there. Despite the fact that they were busy they quickly got my car in and looked at. They were also very fast in getting answers when I was asking for prices and why they were the way they were. Overall, they were supper kind and got me back on the road quickly.

Our daughter car had broken down. Pitts scheduled the car quickly and provided a troubleshooting summary with photos and total costs via text allowing us to select or defer repairs. Excellent service!

Pitts Automotive is a great Shop! Arguably the best in the Tuscaloosa area. Everyone who works there is very nice and personable as well as communicates when the car will be done. I’ve gone there for all my oil changes and additional work since I’ve been in Tuscaloosa! Highly highly recommend!

Pitts Automotive is 1 of the best shops in Tuscaloosa. Staff is friendly and the prices was very affordable. Jason is absolutely the best and i will definitely be a returning customer if need be and I will absolutely recommend this shop. 10 STARS

Pitts was great! Service was easy and though there was a delay on one of the parts (not their fault), they did a great job at keeping me updated. Shali at the front desk is the goat. Drove me home when the shuttle would take too long to get me back for my classes.

I was very disappointed with my experience at Pitts Automotive. I took my car in on Thursday evening. By Friday morning at 10am, I had not gotten a call about it. So, I called at 10am and 1130am and was told it was still being evaluated. After 1130am, they seemed to stop answering the phone. I wasn't able to get another person on the phone until after 3pm and that was when Jason called me. He seemed unsure about the diagnosis. I knew they closed at 530pm so I asked if I could pick up my car. There were a couple of texts sent regarding what was found on the diagnostic. But, the reason that I brought it in was never addressed. When I picked up my car I was told I could pay the diagnostic fee and bring it back Monday for repairs. However, after I left with my car, I received a text stating that they would not be able to do any repairs until Wednesday. I had already informed Jason that this was my only mode of transportation. If they hadn't kept my car all day until closing, I could have taken it somewhere else and possibly gotten it repaired the same day. It was Friday evening which made this very inconvenient. Honestly, I feel like it was done purposely and although I paid the diagnostic fee, I don't feel like I should have.
Fast forward to today (January 26th) Maggie at Pitts offered to refund the diagnostic fee if I remove this review. This is just her way of getting me to remove this review because she said the fee will be returned after the review is removed. I have no intention to remove the original review because everything I said in it, is true. Others who amay be anticipating taking their car to Pitts have a right to know my experience.Jan 26, 2026 -
Saw all the positive reviews and felt optimistic, but extremely disappointed. I drive a Jeep Cherokee and am having problems with the programming I suspect. I called around and most places said they could not do it, but Pitts said they could. I specifically described the problem and said I suspected that it had to do with the programming or electrical. They said that they could do it so I took it in. They diagnosed every possible problem except the one that I wanted fixed. They did not even attempt to fix it. They told me to figure that out, I would have to pay an additional $600 despite their previous claims. I’ve never felt more scammed in my life than dealing with them. They did not do anything I asked and charged $200+. To top it all off there is a strange smell that appeared after I brought it to them, that has persisted a year later.
Since I can’t reply to the passive aggressive reply, I’ll edit it. I don’t leave reviews unless the place is deserving of a bad one. And pitts most certainly is. Number one. I asked about one specific problem and asked for that to be figured out. Did y’all? No you didn’t. You found other problems apart from the specific reason I picked pitts. I didn’t want anything switched out. Just diagnosed. I made it explicitly clear what I wanted done and y’all didn’t do it. Despite saying y'all were able to for the diagnostic I chose. My problem was clearly an electrical problem and if yall would have told me it would an additional fee up front. It would have been much different.
As for the smell, I would believe that if it had occurred before I took it to pitts. But is it a coincidence that as soon as I brought it in it starting smelling? NopeJan 20, 2026 -
Front office staff extremely friendly, experienced, and knowledgeable! They listened to my concerns and did a full inspection of my vehicle! They explained the issues that needed to be addressed in terms that i could easily understand!
Their highly experienced technician made all the necessary repairs and did it in a timely fashion, and kept me updated on the progress!
Very reasonable priced and very courteous service all around!

I have been to many automotive shops, but this one is the best in my opinion. The staff is professional and they know what they are doing. They diagnosed my car and showed me everything in detail—nothing was fake or exaggerated. Although it took them a bit longer to finish the diagnosis, they sent me a message letting me know they would be a little late, which I really appreciated—their honesty and clear communication meant a lot to me. I also appreciated that they offered me a ride to UA and told me they would be happy to pick me up again when my car was ready. Since I was leaving my car and literally had no car in a town with poor public transportation and very few sidewalks to walk home, this made a huge difference for me. I got my car back the same day, just as they promised. I even scheduled another appointment to fix the control arm. I don’t think I will go to any other automotive shop but Pitt’s Automotive. You pay for the high quality you get!

I had a very good experience with the pits automotive team. Courteous, professional, well informed and knowledgeable. The facility was super clean. They performed as they promised. Which means I was without my vehicle for a minimal amount of time. You should definitely give them a try.

The Pitts Automotive Team was very helpful. They did a full inspection of my car and made some needed repairs. They did a great job explaining what needed to be done. They were also super friendly and kind.

Went there to get my brake fluid and automatic transmission fluid flushed, and to replace the cabin and engine filters. The pricing was quite reasonable compared to other places, and the service was spot on.
They did not try to sell me anything that was not needed.
Their inspection report was detailed, complete with photos and specific notes. I dropped my car off in the morning and got it back the same evening, so the whole process was smooth and hassle-free.
Overall, it was a great experience, and I’ll definitely be servicing my car here again in the future.Oct 22, 2025 -

I am beyond thrilled with my first experience. I was quoted a price of several thousand dollars from the dealership and decided to get a second opinion. The issue was actually not with the expensive part the dealership said, but with the bracket holding the part. Pitts fixed it and included it in the price of the standard diagnostic fee! They also made special arrangements to pick me up at the end of the day from work. The entire staff are super friendly, easy to talk with and obviously aim for high customer service. So once again I am thrilled with the experience and also spending $150 instead of $3000!! Thank you!!

Excellent staff and service. They will make sure to have your car in and out! I needed to get my sunroof seal replaced in my 4Runner. I took it in yesterday morning and had it back today by noon. I was in communication with Toyota as well. Toyota was trying to tell me I needed the glass replaced too which was going to cost $1k more, making it in the upper $2,000s…Pitts said that was not necessary, and ended up spending less than the estimate I was originally given from them!

Without a doubt the best place in town to get one's car repaired. Their mechanics are very thorough and all of the staff were very communicative. The diagnostic reports are well--detailed and include pictures as well. Their mechanic even showed me a video in person when addressing one of my concerns. They sourced a replacement part that had gone out of production (15 years shouldn't be that old for a car) and did it a second time when the first part didn't work. I've taken my car here three times over the past four years, and will continue to do so for my remaining time in Tuscaloosa. The only problem is finding a spot since they are always so busy (for good reason).

Pitts is, by far, the best automotive shop I have found in Tuscaloosa. After a couple terrible experiences at the Toyota dealership in town (which frankly left me feeling utterly scammed), a friend recommended I try Pitts. Boy am I glad I did. Not only are Zorah, Maggie, and Courtney some of the friendliest professionals I've ever found at an auto shop, but they and their mechanics actually explain to you what the problem with your car is, without making you feel stupid or like you're wasting their time. My car is a tool to drive from point A to B, so I don't need to or want to know how my car works, that's why I'm paying a mechanic to fix it! That doesn't mean I need to be treated like I'm dumb (looking at you, Toyota dealership), and Pitts understands this. They explain things in detail, they offer you alternatives, and help you consider whatever the best option might be for your case. I've had them work on two fixes for my car (one serious, one medium) and where other places failed or made the process a 2-week headache, Pitts had me all fixed up in 1-2 days and my car did not complain about a thing for months after that. The prices are also entirely fair, whereas other mechanics I've tried in town often seemed way overpriced for the work accomplished. I've enjoyed my experience at Pitts so much that they're now my go-to yearly oil-change as well. If you're looking for a fantastic auto shop in Tuscaloosa, I 1000% recommend you give Pitts a chance - you'll be glad you did.

I had a great experience with Pitts automotive. They quickly found the root cause of my car’s issue and explained everything clearly. Despite dealing with their own electrical problems (no phone or internet at the time), they remained kind, professional, and focused on getting the job done right. Highly recommend!

My wife and I have been using Pitts for several years. They do a good job. The staff is friendly and they always provide a detailed written estimate of the work that is needed. They are not cheap, but cheap and good usually don't go together.

I can't praise Pitts highly enough. We bought a used car and gave it to them for inspection. They really did an extremely good job. The costs were listed clearly and transparently in advance. Any additional work that arose during the review was requested for approval. The analysis results were clearly communicated in the app using pictures.
All in all, an extremely friendly and capable service center.

Pitts Automotive has been by far one of the best automotive shops I’ve visited in the Tuscaloosa area! Zora and Courtney are very professional and everyone is very nice! They are very reasonable and fair priced! They saved me over 10k in repairs that the dealership was trying to charge to fix my vehicle. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!!

Very professional and patient, I was confused initially about the cost of the diagnostics but, it was worth every penny to have a list of needed repairs. Courtney was so patient with me while I negotiated with VW to repair an issue that was warrantied. I will be returning to finish off my list of repairs. In addition to great car service, the whole team at Pitts is really entertaining, funny and kind.

I highly recommend this place for any repair work. I took my daughter back to school, and was leaving to head back to Dallas. My car started misfiring on the way out of the hotel parking lot. Pitts Automotive fit me into their schedule, diagnosed my car and fixed it! I was on the road in 3 hours!
Super nice employees as well, even offered us lunch! My daughter will be using them in the future for Oil Changes and any issues she may have with her car. Thank you Pitts Automotive!!Aug 09, 2025 -
I honestly have no idea where to even begin with this review. We had issues with our truck earlier in the year, and Pitts was great about getting it repaired properly and in a timely manner. So, obviously when our car started having issues we thought we would take it there due to how well they handled our truck issues. BAD IDEA! They ended up having my car for 4 days shy of 6 weeks. At least two of those weeks were spent waiting for a part that it didn’t even need. We were given wrong information several times throughout the 6 weeks and the whole process was chaotic and disorganized on their part. Upon picking up my (garage kept) car, it was obvious it had spent most of those 6 weeks sitting outside under trees due to the black mold covering the outside and the leaves and sticks filling every nook and cranny of the exterior. Also, we paid for an alignment that was either never done or not done correctly due to the fact that my car now pulls to the right very very badly (which it was not doing before). But due to our awful experience this time, we will take it somewhere else for that to be fixed. Not to mention the grease that was left on the interior, when I had just detailed my car approximately two weeks before leaving it with them. Again, we did have a good experience with the first vehicle we took there. They really dropped the ball this time though and this experience was bad enough that we will never take another vehicle to them again, and will definitely not be referring anyone to them.
