I purchased a lifetime alignment, and they refused to honor it. I took my vehicle in to have the alignment done and they said my tires were too worn to do an alignment. Even if they were completely bald, you can still perform an alignment, but he just did not want to perform the work, so he kept giving excuses and making up reasons why he would not do the alignment.
Went in for a flat and while changing the tire they noticed that my rotators were warped. I had gone to previous places for a squeezing problem and was told there was not an issue. It indeed was because after this fix at Pep Boys the squeaking stopped.
Mr. Harold was so polite and helpful after the online service order was messed up. He is great to work with. Go see him at store 1589 on McFarland Blvd. Thank you Mr. Harold.
Came for a brake repair and was given a high cost estimate, and a bunch of unnecessary services and guarantees as mandatory. Ended up having all the services done at 1/10 the price elsewhere
08/22/2025 - I made an online appointment because of the text message I received. I will NOT use the online appointment system again. I will call whichever shop I want to go to. The local shop doesn't review the online appointments until you arrive. This is the second time they've told me they couldn't look at my car or perform the task. Today I was told that the new/rebuilt shop on Skyland has all of this shops techs. When the guy called Skyland (after I suggested it) they told him they couldn't handle my appointment today. 'Could I go over FIRST thing tomorrow morning?' Tomorrow is Saturday! I, already, have the day planned. This was a waste of time.
5/14/2025 - The staff is courteous and the tech that helped me kept me informed. I was in and out in less than an hour.
I made my appointment online and listed the reasons. No one called to say that they can't refinish rotators. Their machine is broken and they are waiting for it to be repaired. I have to gp somewhere else to get that fixed. Also, they don't have lug nuts to replace the ones on my vehicle (Fancy Ford, not my idea). So, now I have to buy lugnuts to have replaced at my next tire rotation.
They should call the customer before they arrive.
HOWEVER, my tire rotation was complementary! Many thanks for that!
Amazing service the staff is very friendly and informative. We had a hole in our tire and we’ve been traveling to Indiana to get back home so we still had quite a few hours to go. We were in and out and under 30 minutes! Plus some of the staff is black so I felt safer (as a person of color.) 10/10
i made an appointment to get a set of tires put on my CAR .i got there early the guys were eating lunch i told them to eat and then do the tires .They worked fast still got me out in an hour . thanks JIM
Went for brake service on a Saturday. I arrived at opening time. The gentleman at the desk advised they were very busy in the morning but that he would schedule me for service at 2:00 after the rush. I came back at 2:00 and only had to wait 30 minutes.
These guys were very informative and went out of their way to print me up an estimate. I see why they stay so busy, good service equals return customers.
I recently had a disappointing experience with the mechanics at Pep Boys. After bringing my vehicle in, I was told that a specific part was needed, but they claimed they couldn’t find it anywhere. However, the dealership had the part in stock and instructed me to have Pep Boys contact them directly to have it shipped. Unfortunately, despite this clear direction, neither Brandon nor Jason followed through. Brandon failed to relay messages to Jason, and Jason seemed disinterested in making the effort to get the part ordered. Even though I spent a significant amount of money, the customer service was lacking, with no follow-up from them—I had to chase them for updates. In the end, I wouldn’t recommend Pep Boys, and I won’t be going back. The lack of communication and follow-through was frustrating and disappointing.
These guys are so helpful and kind. A cut above the rest. Trusting that Hunter and his colleagues will take good care my wife’s vehicle has become a more of a peace of mind accomplishment for me. Mighty and fine. They really do great work!
Save yourself the time & money. Took my jeep here and they charged me for a diagnostic test & said it was my water pump. They quoted me almost $1000 to fix the issue. I got a second opinion from another shop/company and it was the radiator and thermostat. Don’t trust these guys they will get over any chance they get. So I basically gave $50 away for an inaccurate diagnostic test.
Amazing customer service and tire service as well!! Went in for a new set of Goodyear tires with premium installation and premium installation is exactly what I received! When you get new tires at Pep Boys you can get your tires rotated there for free with every oil change, even if you get oil change at a different company. Can't beat that for great service! I believe I'll be scheduling my oil change and tire rotation both at Pep Boys from now on. Thanks for the amazing service for my Honda Accord yesterday afternoon!! She's driving and riding smooth again
Guy on the phone was nice but they want 80 dollars to replace a headlight bulb..a single bulb. Like a 15 dollar part and 5 mins of work, I just can’t get the angle right. I’d rather break it 50 times trying to replace it than pay these fools 80 dollars. What a joke.

Made an appointment online and when I showed up I was told they couldn’t do tires that big (285/70/R17)..which basically just leaves car tires! He said they didn’t have the equipment to do it and said I needed to go somewhere else cause they have old crappy equipment and gave me a couple recommendations. He wasn’t the problem, the problem was I drove all the way there just to be told they couldn’t do it. Pep Boys needs to get their crap together. They are losing a lot of money because of stuff like this….as I type this review I am sitting in a local tire shop getting them put on. You lost that money Pep Boys. I will never use pep boys again! To have the manager tell me that their equipment is old and “crappy” is crazy!
They do more tan just change your oil they thoroughly inspect your vehicle and from that I was notified of a potential problem that about to happen thus I can ve proactive on it . Very Knowledgeable Hunter and the crew that use to work.at Postles are.top.of the line anyway from years of dealing with them
I called 30 minutes before they closed and made an appointment for the next morning for 2 tires. I got there 30 minutes early not expecting them to get me in early or anything, but they got to my car very quickly. I was out of there in about 45 minutes! They were professional and pricing was very fair. Definitely will use them in the future!
Brandon helped us so much on a late Friday night when we had a flat tire. He and his manager, Jason, and the entire team did a great job getting our tire located and replaced and they had us ready to go by noon on Saturday. No other place in Tuscaloosa or near Tuscaloosa could even find this particular tire. We.were so impressed with their knowledge of tires and with their professionalism. We cannot thank them enough! FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY AROUND!

Pep Boys did an amazing job on my car. My car needed some engine work and a tuneup. Pep Boys was able to inspect my car and fix it all in one day while every other auto shop I had talked to was 4 to 7 days out just to do an engine diagnostic test. The pricing was reasonable, and the quality service was great. Staff are also really nice.
I came in to get the front and back brakes, along with an oil change. It was quick and easy checkin. The customer service rep was very informative and friendly. They updated me along the process since I dropped my car off for service. Checking out was super easy well and that's service rep was very friendly as well.
This shop does great work, but it's hard to leave a positive review when one of their employees literally smells like death. He walked in the door and immediately filled the whole waiting area with B.O.. The smell lingered long after he left the waiting area and honestly ruined my afternoon. I understand these guys are working hard in the heat, but an obvious lack of hygiene is repulsive. Please address this for the sake of your customers.
