I would like to give them no stars but that's not an option. I purchased an item which supposedly was eligible for an e gift card. Well I got the gift card but I was charged for it. I called the store and they said that it was because if I brought the item back for a refund I would get the purchase price plus gift card price back. So I guess the only way to get a gift card is to return the item? That is stupid! I would rather just not get the gift card. I asked if they could just refund the price of the gift card but that's not an option. So essentially they false advertising to make sure you have to spend more money in their store. That's just Bad business. Beware of the gift card scheme.
I ordered the Northstar 4200 p.s.i. online from the company. It's Honda powered with a cat pump about a month and a half ago. Finally got to use the other day and it works great. It's powerful enough to use the 40° tip and clean up the concrete efficiently. It's commercially rated and powerful enough to be dangerous so be careful when you're using it. The only complaint I have is some of the paint wore off the handle during shipping. Was probably shaking in the trailer during shipping. I ordered it from the company from a Lady named Lynn @ ex.- 8058 . She was very helpful and courteous.
Fantastic on-line experience. This site is easy to navigate and has great search capabilities. Northern Tool is a fantastic place to shop and they carry dependable, high-quality merchandise.
I bout the Northern brand 3200 psi power washer just under 2 years ago at the Northern Store on I-65 and it worked fine until I couldn't start because I could not pull the start cord. I always shut the fuel.valve and let the carburetor bowl run empty. But I still pulled the spark plug to make sure it wasn't hydro-locked and it wasn't.
It's possible that the pump was causing the issue so I took it to the store on a Tuesday morning which they confirmed was still under warranty.
A week went by and I called the repair department on the next Tuesday afternoon. The reply was he can't even look at it until the following Friday. I think 10 working days to just even begin to look at the problem is way to long even for warranty work. It's not the techs fault, it's a management issue that one guy is overworked like this and doesn't have the help he needs to reduce the turnaround time to be acceptable.
In my opinion it's a good motor but the pump has a reliability issue that is detailed in several You Tube videos and reviews and that it's cost effective to replace the pump instead of repairing.
The part number comes back with a direct replacement from Amazon delivered in 2 days.
The employees are really nice, but they don't have a lot of stuff. I try to come here because it's close to home. Often times they don't have when I'm looking for so I end up having to waste more time going to Harbor Freight. A quick tool run turns into a long one. I expexted yall to have corner/detail sanding pads. Very common. Not the first common thing to have not been stocked.
Love this store. They have a good bit of almost everything you may need. Prices are fair, especially if you hit a sale price and couple it with a coupon. They have a decent amount of clearance as well. Sometimes it's like Walmart where they take 5% off and call it a clearance item or other times it'll be like Lowes and Target where it's 50% or better off.
Helpful staff, had what I needed, overall good experience... They matched their own online prices but would not honor one of the online promotions explaining that they were not a "participating store"... otherwise very good and I will continue to shop with them for my needs
Just recently started shopping from Northern Tool online and I have to say that they are on top of their game. Prices are very competitive. Had an order canceled and my Paypal account still had my money on hold. I called and spoke to a rep named John (do not know the last name). He put me on hold while trying contact their finance department. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to get through but he informed me that he will call me back the next day when my concern is resolved. I received a call from John the next morning letting me know that my issue should be resolved, and I should get the credit back into my paypal account in a day or two. I checked after talking to him and it was already credited back. I have since ordered more from Northern Tool, and will be ordering in the near future.
I had an amazing visit. Perry really helped me out he was very helpful and made sure l had everything that l needed. Just wanna say thank you so much to Perry and the rest of the team. I will be returning here for any future needs.
It's very clean and organized. The staff were helpful and eager to give their assistance. The prices are average for a tool store. They do not have a large selection to choose from in each category, but what they have is reasonably priced.
I just wouldn't drive across town thinking you're are getting a great deal
They don't always have the things I'm looking for, but if I wanted to travel a hundred miles I could get them, it's not a really huge store. But I like the ship to store features, I hope it ships there quickly.
Every employee that has helped us at different times, have been very helpful and very knowledgeable on each item we have purchased or inquired about. The store is always super clean and everything easy to locate.
In store customer service was awesome. Website is very broken, and even worse on mobile. If I have just one item that requires shipping it forces the whole order to be shipped. I have a dedicated payment for my personal shop related purchases and now I have to use and alternative method which is inconvenient. Other than that I have no complaints. I will give five stars purely based on the customer service I was provided in store.
They had the perfect tool box for my truck at the right price. They have a better quality selection than other similar styled stores. And the workers actually made the time to help and show you around the store to find different items.
Was looking for a quality electric heater that actually heats zones well and Northern Tool had the absolute best selection. Online ordering with in-store pickup was a breeze and the associate that assisted me with getting my order together was extremely polite and helpful.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER! Noone knows where my order is after being over 2 weeks late. Customer service has hung up on me twice. They can't even connect me to a manager. 1 star is generous. They should me liable for my schedule delays. Local store employees have been rude as well.

Justin was extremely helpful with my pressure washer purchase. He was very knowledgeable about the products and everything needed to get this product set up and running. This experience was a pleasant surprise as most chains have dropped the personal help as he did. A nice experience for an old schooler like me.
We drove from Milton, FL to Mobile, AL because the gentleman on the phone was so friendly and helpful. Sure enough, when we got there, they had exactly what we needed. We had a great experience, the staff were very knowledgeable and courteous. Especially Casey (sp?)
Hi. We bought hammer drill, electric heater and drywall sander. Very bright, clean place. Chase, associate, was super helpful. The only thing the store didn't have are painting equipment. We are remodeling business.
They really carry a lot of items that you just can’t get at other local stores. Some of the items I picked up last time I had pretty much given up on being able to find them locally and not order from the internet. They also have a good selection of made in USA products which I really like!
We have a lot of equipment with small engines, so we went twice to purchase a 13hp motor after driving 11/2 hours. They didn't have the power horse brand in stock, only the honda engine both times. Which cost twice the price as the power horse. I had to order the power horse online. I was told it could take 7-10 days to arrive at the store. So I have to go back and pick it up. I call and asked when will they have more motors in stock. I was told, it would be next spring since it's a spring item. I was very disappointed to hear that. I can go to Lowe's or Harbor freight and get the other items they have in stock. I wish they will stock more major items so we can purchase at the store. Most major items are on display and has to be ordered. They will not sell the display items. No need to build the store if we still have to order at the store and it takes the same amount of time to get it as if I ordered online or the catalog (which I got tired of getting in the mail). The customer service from the floor is great but upper management will cause the store to loose sales. There' are too many options for the consumer to choose to spend their money these days. Customer service is key. I was excited to see it being built but very disappointed that I have to order the major items. I will get the predator and other items at Harbor Freight again, buy the replacement warranty and just replace it when it fails. Although it's my opinion the small engines are better at Northern Tools, I Don't think I will be going back no time soon. Not when I can pull it off the shelf somewhere else and continue working.
