Our first night in Mobile, our friend's car was impounded. The police officers were super nice. We were told they do not tow cars. However, a tow truck drives around and tows cars to the impound lot. Being from out of town, we're used to signs painted on the street. They did not see this little bitty sign hanging on the pole So within the hour, they were towed. Thankfully, we had gone by the hotel first and took everything out of the car.. considering it was Sunday and she couldn't get her car until Monday.
I didn't even have my car impounded. I was there to take photos for a lienholder- doing my job. Im ok with being turned away if there's a law not allowing allowing me to take photos. What I don't like is being hassled • because I didn't park in the impound parking area?
• then takes my driver's license not to document who I was for job I was doing in professional capacity - But to pull up my records and falsely claim I had warrants and threatening to arrest me . All because I'm trying to do my job.
*This guy has issues and I bet the whole department wishes the miserable sad sack would retire already. The only time i saw "joy" was when he had a twinkle in his eye giving me grief and watching me get upset.
You can have all the paper work you need and even get it off the website itself. Then they tell you its not there. Spent 2 hours of my day filling out the documents they request. Just to get my tow truck driver down there and now they want a form that isn't listed on the check list on top of the fact its an affidavit for when you submit a title it proves nothing about an account being in default. I hate when cars end up here because, every single time something else has changed and that new thing isn't listed on the website at all. Something needs to change.

Be prepared for one person to work meanwhile it’s gonna be 5/6 people in the back laughing at EVERYTHING.

The lady in the office got mad at me cause I told her MY INSURANCE is in the folder, that was literally IN HER HAND….she “forgot” to read and got mad after I told her I’m not doing anything until u read the papers in ur hand so u can see that my car is fully insured
Regular Cars are like $150. They go up if it’s a truck or SUV. I believe.
I know there are rules they have to follow and the people that work there do a great job. They are respectful and in turn we , the people they help, upset mothers, mad girlfriends, people living paycheck to paycheck, they have a tough job. So my experience is they are a service an hepl how they can. Say thank you.
They towed my car after I left it to go get a part for it. Fast forward, I was about to sale my car and they stole all my car paperwork out my car and played dumb to the fact of it!
I am giving it a 3 -"its okay"- rating because that's where I was lucky enough to find my Ford Fusion for only $700. We also found an awesome Audi for $350...yeah, we've heard the rumors about they could do with a bit of paint and someone to show them some TLC and that's exactly what happened to these babies.
Red tape, lied 2 by 2 different officers. Held my birth certificate, medical records, im disabled. Held my registration and house keys. My medications. Im sure other people have had them lied to by those 2 officers, i was thier. 2 much 2 text. Ive been there 3 times. Approximately 6 hours and have nothing to show for it except towing fee and $20 a day storage and i still cant get my car out. Mobile Police website has a complaint form fill it out so im not the only 1. Thanks Michael Laird.
