Wonderful scrap yard.
All employees are helpful and friendly. They keep the yard clean. Quick in and out. The crane operators are very careful when unloading your truck. They pay top prices. I don't go anywhere else.

Well I have been searching for how to add a second review and unfortunately you can only add to your first review, but on the bright side I only want to say hats off to Stephen, I cannot get the names right but it is close to Elon, All of the workers that always help separate identify and unload for me! Don't let me forget the folks up in the office because no matter if I have a lot or a little they always give me top dollar and they always show appreciation for my business. Once again I would like to say I have been to every scrap yard and this is the only one that I will say is fair, helpful and working up to the last minute on the clock!
It was my first time going there. So just as I should be I was confused where to go based off the chaos I saw. I was created by Ryan who informed me on how we got started. He was very knowledgeable and showed me the "Chaos" was very well organized! I then met I believe his name was Bruce he weighs the wheels, copper, and brass on the left as you pull in. He was very helpful pointing out that 1 of my radiators was copper. He was very knowledgeable as well! I highly recommended them for your scrap needs! I used to go to "USA" once they turned to "SA" service went to crap! I definitely will be back for all my scrapping needs! Thanks again for making me feel welcome! Most importantly yall have integrity and honesty!!!! Keep up the GREAT work!!!
I love me some Standard Iron and Metal. The owners are honest and humble to a fault. They’d give you the drawers right off their legs. They’re loyal like a dog and friendly as a sun bear. Prices are the best in town and the staff will lay out the red carpet. Go Standard!
As an out of town contractor, in search of a roll off service. I was very pleased with this location, would definitely recommend it, and come back if needed. After calling different locations, they were the ones with THE BEST pricing.. They also worked very quick and their service to the customer is effective and effortless. Being a scrap yard it is 10/10 clean and organized.
Standard Iron was recommended by several fellow electricians at work. I showed up with some scrap wire and a sling on one arm for a broken hand. They offered to unload the wire for me and I was there for less than 10 minutes until getting paid out. Very helpful, friendly people and fair pricing on the scrap wire, will definitely be back when I save up some wire again.
Yes, I was just in there yesterday and I feel like I was robbed. I had four 33 gallon bags of crushed aluminum cans and they said the weight was just 37 lbs. (I've toted a lot of babies and toddlers in my day; and getting those hard saved bags ready and shipped to my vehicle was not "37 lbs.).
Then they also had a coupon for 2¢ extra per pound that I took advantage of, I only got $19.25 for all my hard work of crushing and saving from them.
Those bags were heavy, like a 2 year old toddler (each).
Yeah, I think I was robbed.
Their scale is very tiny and I don't think it works up to par. The men working that side laugh at the customers.
I think someone needs to be monitoring them at all times to be certain they do their job correctly.
I'm very dissatisfied with my very first visit with you all. I think I'll go back across the road to the other recyclers (I've been their a time or two, and never had a problem believing my receipts).
Just because I'm a female, doesn't mean you have the right to scheme me, thinking I don't know anything. I've been raised around many mechanic shops and tire stores and I know the previous owners of USA recycling company. I'm not one to be fooled.
I only gave two stars because I liked the layout of the company, not because of accuracy.
Y'all might need to get a better working scale.

Very friendly the best scrapyard around all the guys there are awesome any questions you want ask about metals and scraping they will educate you. Couldn’t ask for a better scrapyard and the amazing employees.
This place is great. I went as a first timer and Ryan was super helpful, polite, and informative. They'll definitely be getting all my future business and will be the place I'll recommend to all who ask.
My favorite scrap yard in bama. They always have good pricing, they don't nitpick your load as long as it's reasonably clean, and the crew has always been helpful. Best in class.

What i dont know they are more than happy to pass on the knowledge which has helped me get the most out of every load.
Most scrap yards seem like an injury or a flat tire waiting to happen. Not these guys. Even if your not paying attention they are always looking out for everyones safety and always making sure the yard is free of the kinds of things that cause vehicle or tire damage
Prices are higher than the average and the people are all very polite and friendly.
I wont go any where else.
Im a truck driver and I had a load to pick up here and they were extremely helpful. I wasn't able to make it on time so I called and they said they would get me loaded first thing the next morning. They were completely understanding and had no issues with me being late. It's a small yard to maneuver a big rig but they had multiple people out helping me get around the yard and to the dock. I met the owner and was a nice as could be. I was in and out in an hour and on my way.
Great place with great pricing. I've been coming here for 5 years now and I still come here even though I moved out of state. Clean yard and organized to get you in and out.
I gie them 4 stars because they sometimes don't give you the right script price but it's a great place toscrato scrap at they get you in & out quickly and the employees there are very nice and kind
Everyone there was very nice and helpful! By far the best scrap yard in Birmingham. Everything was well organized for a scrap yard and I didn’t leave covered in mud like I do from everywhere else.

Best scrap yard in the ham by far . Fair prices nice staff and the cleanest yard I've ever been on absolutely no chance of getting a flat. You just may have to go around the train tracks right b4 you get to there yard but it's always worth a little extra drive if necessary .

This place is THE scrap yard for Birmingham and surrounding areas and the ONLY place I'll go! Aside from paying top market $ for your scrap, they are extremely nice, knowledgeable and will explain anything you don't understand. I have been to other scrap yards and have felt burned after leaving and left wondering how much I would have got back if i had just waited and went to Standard. Bottom line: if you have anything that you want to scrap, dont waste your time or efforts by going somewhere else... go to Standard Iron and Metal 1st, get paid and be on your way!
I had never scrapped any metals before. I called several places to find the best prices. Standard has the best prices in town. When I showed up, they didn't give me a hard time about not knowing the routine with weighing and where to pull to unload the stuff. They were very helpful. I was in and out in no time. They even gave my kids suckers.
This was my first visit this facility. The place was well organized and the staff was very helpful. I mentioned it being my first visit to Scott, told him I occasionally bring household items. Scott was friendly and easy to do business with and the prices they pay are more than adequate in my opinion. This will be my "go to" place in the future.
