this scrap yard was very close and convenient to a job I was working. so we brought in a trailer full of metal.
I don't know what the weight was, as they didn't provide that info, but for a full 12' trailer they paid me $60. I was expecting $250ish.
I took a second 12' trailer load up to Waukesha and I got $260. I then took a third trailer load back to Racine, and I got $280.
All three loads were very similar. in fact, if I had to guess I would say that load one may have weighed the most.
I didn't check prices before I went, so that's on me. but the discrepancy in how much they paid for a similar sized load is ridiculous.
I will say that the crew working here was extremely helpful, nice, and top notch.
I have been bringing in scrap wire, batteries, and other assorted scrap metal for at least 10 years and I felt like a second class citizen when I was there in July 19th. It was obvious that the main scrap barn had burned down. All of the owners were hanging around like we were trying to rip them off. Will I come back...I don't know.
Was there today and brought in over 6000 pounds of scrap. Usually the owner, Mike, is there. However, he was gone today. Let me say I have been hauling in here for years. Have brought in hundreds of tons of materials. Mike has always been fair with me. However today I totally felt used. Was paid $120 a ton for steel when going rate is $210 for standard and $265 for 3ft. That is a loss for me of over $300. What got me the most is when the guy said you are lucky usually we only pay .02 a pound or $40 a ton. Sorry Mike but I will not be back.
Best place ever I’ve been going here for over 10 years and I will never go somewhere else and the people are so nice and friendly and willing to help any way they can even unloading the truck for my wife
I take most of my scrap here because it's close and I'm generally just looking to get rid of my scrap not make a buck. I'm very skeptical that they're paying the full value of the scrap. That said, they are very easy to deal with.
Horrible service, they don't know what they're doing Everytime we go there we get ripped off. They gave us a penny a pound for steel when it should have been ten cents a pound.they thought it was cast iron when it was steel. Unbelievable never go here again
