This place fixed my Mom's vehicle after she had a hit-and-run with a giant deer. Her vehicle made it home that night, then to Gritts's auto 2 days later at a slower method than the standard speed limit of 55/60 mph.
This place did a kick-ass job on her vehicle to where you can not see a scratch, not even a mark to show the color was or is off slightly. Her vehicle color is pearl white & the front end where the deer hit, there are no signs of anything anymore. Will be posting new pictures of the completed work soon.
I’m not normally one to write reviews, but felt it was necessary after my recent experience. I brought my car to Gritt’s because it didn’t sound right while driving and had randomly shut off/stalled a few times. I explained these concerns and specifically asked that it be thoroughly checked over (we also needed new tires and didn’t want to invest in them if the car needed major repairs). Gritt’s looked the car over and told me only minor issues were found, mainly air filters needing to be replaced, and that the car was otherwise “fine.” About four days later, my car stalled out three times while driving and multiple warning lights came on, which had never happened before. We brought it to a different mechanic who found the oil was completely dry (my last oil change was ~2,000 miles ago) and said there was “catastrophic damage” that now requires a new engine. I confirmed with the second mechanic that there was no leak, so the oil must have been burning and low for some time. I understand Gritt’s is not responsible for the oil being low. However, the fact that they didn’t even check the oil when I brought the car in is extremely frustrating. If I had been told it was low, I could have addressed it right away and potentially avoided the severe damage that occurred. Overall, something this simple shouldn’t have been missed, and would not feel confident bringing my car back or recommending their services to others.
I highly recommend using Gritt's Auto Services. I have used them for many years and they have always provided excellent repair services to 3 different cars of mine over many years.
I had a huge issue with vehicle going down 23, in the middle of doing errands and getting to a meeting. Thank goodness they were able to identify the problem and fix it in time for our meeting. We are very grateful for the friendly staff and great service on the spot.
They did a wonderful job servicing my truck. They even pointed out a leaky shock. That shock is under warranty and I'm getting though that process now with the manufacturer. Great service and wonderful people. I will go back for my service work.
Great service! My vehicle had a minor issue that they easily could have over-charged me for. But the folks at Gritt's have integrity and only performed the repair needed at a fair price. Will definitely return.
I have nothing but good things to say about Linda’s auto shop. I was in a bind with an almost flat tire, on my way back home from the Osthoff. Linda helped our family get back on the road in no time. She runs a nice shop with knowledgeable and friendly people.
New to Plymouth and needed my head lights fixed. I called and they got me in the same day and even gave me a loaner car. Great service. Will definitely return when I need service again.

Took my car in with minor issues that were all addressed in a day. They gave me a ride home (within a mile), a full explanation of what needed to be fixed, a text when my car was ready to be picked up, and great customer service. Thank you!
Man It's been a long time coming but I think this place deserves the review. They're honestly a great business. Reasonable prices every time. I bring in two vehicles to them. a 1997 Dodge Intrepid and a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Everything. Everything we've ever had a problem with on our vehicles they fixed or replaced. VERY rarely do we ever wait more than a day to get the vehicle back. (I think we waited a bit once because the starter/ignition coil was acting funny on the intrepid but I think that is the one time it stayed there a couple of days.) Bring in the vehicle same day, Same day it's fixed/repaired and running great again. They communicate every time we visit what might need to be fixed next time or maintenance coming up. I can not stress this enough stupendous work. Every time we visit Friendly. Friendly every time. I recommend these guys to every Coworker/Friend/Family. I recently moved to Plymouth and I’ve been looking for a reliable and affordable auto repair shop. I found that in Gritts. I like to think of myself as a handy guy and I do most of my own auto repair work at home. There are however, those times where I just can’t do certain things on my own. For example, I needed a Tire pressure sensor replaced in my Jeep. I ordered my own part and have the knowledge to program it. I just can’t install it myself because I don’t have a tire balancer so I gave them a call and they were super helpful and said I could drop it off whenever. They had me back up and running the next day.
I had an unexpected brake issue with my truck. Lisa went out of her way to get my truck fixed quickly as possible. She knows I pull fairly heavy and fairly often. Customer service is top notch!
I wished someone would have warned us, we went there because we had a blown spark plug, we knew the problem it came up on our emissions test….no diagnostics necessary, we had already been told the coil was fine, but they insisted we needed to replace it, we have already had them replace two previous plugs and coils at their recommendation, which was almost 300 bucks each time….so when we said no, just the plug, we can’t afford the cost of the coil…….they then charged us over 70 dollars to replace one plug.
And I have never met a business owner so rude in my life.
I generally really like this place. I think the people working there sound like they've been there for too long. Not really cheery, but not like they are mean.
I feel like it's almost 5 stars. Upping customer service would make me change the rating.
Needed a tow and new tires in a pinch. They were able to help me out the same day and the price was very reasonable. They also were able to communicate through texting and kept me updated on the progress and cost throughout the day which was really reassuring. I really appreciated how nice they were and would highly recommend them.
Went in asking them to look at my alternator. Instead they determined that my problem was in the engine air intake. Charged me 100 bucks to clean it out and never even asked me what I thought about it before they did it. Never really fixed the problem at all, but it did kind of help it a bit. I don't think they even looked at my alternator. Alternator went out two days later and left me stranded.
Used them for both my cars for about a year. They have really low prices, so I saved in the short term but payed for it in the long run. I personally will never take my car there again unless I need something like an oil change or need a tire plugged. Even then I think I'd rather give my money to someone else.
Wonderful, friendly staff. You don't find many "Mom and Pop" places anymore these days.I can always trust Gritt's to be honest and all repairs are always done for a fair price! Wouldn't think of bringing in my vehicles to any other mechanic!
My car was acting up, and bunch of lights showing up. Came and got me, gave me what I need now to get running. Told me what needs to be done in close future. Great job.
I took my Dodge Ram van in for a check engine light. Gritt's diagnostics showed that it was missing on cylinders and needed a tune up. A $550 tune up was done. We took the van out west 2 months later and it started missing quite badly. We limped it into a Dodge dealership in Las Vegas and they also diagnosed missing on cylinders and did a complete tune up (another $550). They said the parts that were put in were not Dodge approved and substandard. The van has run good ever since. I complained to Gritt's but no compensation was offered but I didn't expect much from a place that offers parts and workmanship like that.
I used the online service request form at about 2pm, asking for next-day service, which they accomodated. Had my problem diagnosed by noon the next day and I was driving the car again several hours later. Just needed a purge valve replaced, nothing to serious, but I was very impressed with the speed, courteousness, and reasonable price. Would return in a heartbeat.
I just recently had my truck serviced there for a starter issue. They not only replaced my starter but noticed that I was due for an oil change and promptly changed it for me. All while I was on vacation. Staff is super friendly and prices are totally reasonable. Nice to know I can count on them the next time I need them.
