Tom has been an honest and hard-working mechanic forever in Lake Delton. Like a "Good Neighbor" Tom loaned me his truck to go buy a rim at the salvage yard, while my car waited at his shop for me to return.
Also he advised, "NEVER go 10,000 miles on synthetic oil that advertises 10,000. These modern 0-20 viscosity oils are extremely thin to lubricate Very tight tolerances. Any dirt will grind away metal, wreck the tolerances and ruin the engine." Especially a turbo charged engine.
Also oil filters designed for 3000 miles are not efficient for 10,000 miles...

Tom was more than an angel! We were on vacation amongst other issues. When we got to the dells, my car was making a terrible noise. My husband called from Illinois to speak to him and he explain our situation. He was so helpful. Told us not to worry and he would take a look asap, and that he did! I cannot even say enough about how helpful he was. There are still nice people in the world who genuinely care about others still❤️
I'm a visitor on vacation. Alternator failed. Tom was so humble and nice. Did a great repair. Please pay him what he's worth. Dealerships and retail chains will abandon you. Tom's service is very needed, let's protect this!

While on vacation, I had a warning light on my car that I was pretty sure was a mistake, but I wanted to be sure before driving my car all the way home, just to be safe. Tom was able to fit me in the morning after I called. He was able to run diagnostics to confirm nothing was wrong with my car and clear the warning light, and his price was super reasonable. We’ll definitely go to him if we have car trouble in the Dells again.
We were vacationing in the Dells. My husbands back caliper froze up and needed replaced (My husband did not bring any tools to be able to repair it himself). We chose Tom's Engine Repair based off all the reviews. Tom managed to get my truck in ASAP and had if fixed withing a few hours. He even dropped off my husband at a boat rental and picked him up when repairs completed so we wouldn't miss our boat rental. Dells Water sports even raved what a fantastic man Tom is and how great of service he provides. He was very reasonably priced and did the work ASAP and went above and beyond.
After checking into our condo on Sunday noticed a rubbing sound from the
rear of our SUV when we turned Called Tom monday afternoon. He told us to bring it to his shop tuesday morning. Had job finished tuesday afternoon. Very knowledgeable and reasonable on prices. Highly recommend him!!
We had a problem with leaking oil in are car Tom was really helpful and helped us to see if anything was wrong with are car and he was very helpful we called another auto mechanic before Tom and they said they where to busy to even help us out Tom went above and beyond to help us out really great mechanic
Tom is just an all around great guy and I couldn’t have asked for a better mechanic experience. Tom took the time to make sure he found exactly what my car needed since there were 15 different numbers for my part. Tom gave me a ride back to my hotel twice during the process of inspecting and diagnosing my cars issues. The price was great and the service even better! Thank you Tom for everything you do!
If I could give more than 5 stars I would! We were on vacation from minocqua and when we were about 30 minutes away our car started shaking and all the lights came on. I was calling around desperately trying to find someone to look at our car right away. Tom told me to bring it in right away. As soon as I pulled in the car completely died . We needed a new alternator. He was able to get one in the same day and dropped everything else he was doing to fix it car so we could get home for Thanksgiving. He even gave me a ride back to the hotel and picked me up the next morning when it was ready. Absolutely incredible! I met his wife when I was there and they are both amazing people! Thank you Tom!
I was having trouble with my oil pressure after leaving lake Geneva and going to the Dells and Tom's auto took my van in and drove me back to the hotel, he was so nice he fixed the van and didn't charge me very much. If you have any problems with your car go to Tom's they are good people.
Tom and Rita was very nice they went out of their way, above and beyond to get my family back on the road. We stopped at the dells on our way home to Minnesota from Jacksonville Florida. I heard the brakes squeaking and I noticed the truck was pulling to the right everytime I stepped on the brakes. I called around to numerous garages and they were all to busy and wouldn't be able to get me in til next week. Tom told me to stop in so he could check it out and to make sure it was safe for us to continue with our travels well it wasn't and a simple job turned into an all day job. It was one thing after another. They were also very welcoming, they were super nice the whole time. He was fair on the prices, very appreciated. Highly recommend:)
We were on vacation and the radiator in my Toyota Tundra decided to split. We had to check out of our condo in 24 hrs and we're in a serious time crunch. No rental cars available, we were really in a bad position. Tom got us in and had us fixed up with a new radiator by 2:30 and saved our vacation. Price was more than reasonable and the work was completed in a workman like fashion.Hes also a very personable man. Can't say enough good about this business.

Tom is amazing. I broke down right in front of his garage and he had my car fixed in one day and a half. His prices are great and I highly recommend him! I'm a local so I found a new mechanic I can trust.
Great guy and loosened my lug nuts for free. They were potty on with a compact wrench and way too tight. Life saver, I would have been there for hours getting them off.
Tom is absolutely amazing we were down in Dells for a week and my truck was making very bad noises every shop I called didn’t answer or said no. I found Tom Engine Repair and called him and he was the most friendly and professional mechanic I have ever met even in Minnesota I’ve never seen such an amazing mechanic. Typically I do my own repairs but the tire jack I brought wouldn’t reach my truck frame. He gave me a number for a tow truck company and they were friendly and very fast and super cheap. Tom dropped everything and fixed my truck within a couple hours. He called me very fast and said truck was done and he even came and picked me and my wife up from our hotel in our truck. Then he said it’s only 40.00 I had in my mind 400 to 500 cause that’s typical of shops to charge so I gave him a 100.00 bill and told him to keep the change he didn’t want to accept the 60.00 tip but I told him he was a blessing for fixing it so fast and I was beyond stressed about the issue. He is a amazing man and he showed me his classic muscle cars he’s building for his grand kids and I told him his grand kids are very lucky to have him those cars were beautiful. I can’t wait to come down again and visit his shop to see progress on those amazing American muscle cars. Thank you Tom you are a blessing from God. I would honestly drive 6 hours to have him do a repair for me. Beyond amazing service
My go-to guy when i can't do my own repairs. Very honest and knowledgeable on new and old vehicles. Has been my mechanic since high school and my mom's mechanic before then.
We met Tom today. Our power door lift on our Toyota RAV4 stopped working we could not close the rear hatch it was raining of course. The closest Toyota dealer is over 40 miles away. Tom stopped what he was working on. Came out in the rain and got the drive off no easy task. Got hatched closed and latched. We're home now and can take it to our local dealer. Thank you Tom.
We called, he told us he had a tow truck and could jump our car. We called back 5 minutes later and all of a sudden he can't help us, dor the whole day. Then hung up on us twice. VERY RUDE. I would not give this man any of our money.
This was absolutely the best "vacation car trouble" experience I've ever had! My car was making a horrific noise on our way into the Dells. I called Tom's at 6:30 in the evening and explained my situation. He told me to bring the car in first thing in the morning and he'd take a look. We brought the car to him at about 9 a.m. We had a tire issue, we knew, so Tom put the car onto a rolling jack right in the driveway and immediately found my problem to be a missing lug nut and the other lug nuts very loose. Tom reassured us that he could fix the problem before we were scheduled to leave town. He was so welcoming and warm that I had no problem leaving my car with him. The next morning he called and said the car was done. My husband went to pick up the car and it was in perfect condition and everything was fixed. VERY affordable service. Tom was like having your dad work on your car. He was the best mechanic I could have found being far away from home and in desperate need of a mechanic. Tom's Engine Repair was AMAZING!
My daughter was in the Dell's area when her car broke down. I had her and her boyfriend call a number of local repair shops. They had many different price quotes and customer service responses. The issue was a bad alternator. One place told her $8- $900.00 and another told her to just buy a new battery and drive it home (to Minneapolis.) Tom, on the other hand, gave her a reasonable quote and friendly customer service on the phone. He even meet with her after normal business hours and confirmed the problem. He was even willing to accept credit card payment over the phone when the repair was complete. Tom had the parts by the next morning and had her running by noon. A lot of shop's could have taken advantage of an out of town young lady with access to daddy's credit card. Not Tom, she said he was very nice and mad her feel comfortable. To top it all off, when it came time to pay the bill, there was a hick up with his CC machine so he told us to "just sent a check when you get home". Great guy, Great service! I just wish he lived closer to us. The total cost after tax and labor was only $500 bucks.

Never had car worked on but we met him in line for supper at a pizza ranch and he bought my husband and my supper just out of the goodnss of his heart!
