I just came from there today and they are currently paying 73 cents a pound of aluminum cans. I ended up with good chunk of change. Not bad for not bringing in all my cans due to not enough room in my neighbor's car to put them in.
I've never posted a negative review; but if you take the higher priced items like copper or brass on a Saturday morning, prepare to get ripped off awfully bad, especially if you are older and vulnerable. For twice as much perfect condition brass and copper, I was given less than a quarter of my first visit. It was virtually in new condition, but I was told it was "dirty". An obvious scam that really depresses one who works hard. Go somewhere else for these items.
Everyone's situation is different when they come to a salvage yard and it really depends on when you go and being efficient when you are there. If you can help it don't go on Saturdays if you are not patient. Otherwise, treat people with respect and you will get it back there. Be kind and think about others if you can.
I was homeless for almost 13 years in one straight time. I used to be a "canner" during those years and this recycling center and Bandos recycling center was where I used to bring aluminum cans to during those years. I remember when cans were as high as 90 cents and I remember the "crash" and the end of 2008 when cans went to 28 cents a pound. I literally brought thousands of pounds into both centers over those years but now I am not homeless and no longer need to pick up cans and I am glad.
I usually take scrap/junk vehicles to Waukesha Metal but recently have tried Mill Valley twice. We were the last ppl to haul a vehicle over the scale & they closed the office before I could get in the door. I phoned them at 3:20 to be told I needed to return with my ticket to receive my payout the following biz day bcuz "they closed early". It was a Fri afternoon to boot. I've never been denied a payout at Waukesha & see this as bad biz to close early & being the very last customer to handle for the day was just a shock to be denied over the phone. Obviously an employee was still in the office answering the phone, sooooo....??? I hope this isn't a repeat situation & hope no one else is treated this way either.
This place will rip you off out of your weight, the guy running the scale does not let the scale come to a stop. This has happened twice and got ripped off out of 120 lbs. Also the lady who is suppose to pay you always seems to be hiding in back so you have to wait 5 minutes to get paid. They seem to be into stealing from the poor to make the boss rich anf if you complain they ban you. If you don't want to be ripped off don't go here go to alter they are more honest. As for mill valley they are thieves and have shady service. Watch your weight when you get on their scale!!!
I go here occasionally to drop off the hundreds of cans I find. Good price for a lb. of aluminum cans, fast service, and the babe working at the register is very hott :)
We had to go there because a hit and run drive had his car taken there to be destroyed. He hit my daughter in law who is 6 months pregnant. Well mill valley recycling gave us no help and was going to destroy the vehicle we argued with them till the police got there to help. Very poor attitude in this atmosphere
Extremely helpful people working here! Friendly and one worked told me that if I separate some Christmas lights from extension cords I will get more for the cords. Great prices too! As soon as I have more to recycle I will return.
So, drove over something that punctured my tire. (Not a surprise at a junk yard) and when I realized that I didn't have a jack, these wonderful people sent out a fork lift to assist with the tire change. Along with all the necessary tools. Thanks to all of you!
