We had a driver named Owen who came out to help us,he was right on and very professional in the way he conducted himself,he fixed our tire problem on a very short time and suggested we go up to Don's to fix our problem and his suggestion turned out to be a good idea.and the staff at the front desk was very friendly and well organized,overall it was a very good experience.

My car wouldn't start 25 mi out of town, they came out toward me and my car back to the service center, and I was back on the road in no time!

I had an issue where my car wouldn’t start. I got 1 mile tow and a new battery for just under $500. A week later my car died, I strongly believe my alternator was the issue. That was a disappointing amoun to of money to pay for the issue to not be solved.

I called regarding my trailblazer not shifting correctly, just to find out the possible cause and what I should do, and they actually got me in immediately, and looked it over. I brought it back the next day, and they got it back in right away, did all the repairs, exactly as they quoted was wrong, nothing more or extra. they had a very comfortable waiting room and they were super duper polite, fast, and very fair priced. I will definitely be taking my vehicles there again if I need repairs!!!!

The Team at Don's was excellent. We had a flat tire we took in which they determined to be unrepairable. They quickly determined our full sized spare would work after remounting and balancing it. They are very responsive, quick, and reasonably priced. Jacey was great. She was very understanding in keeping our costs as low as possible and is a rock star Advisor. She also provided a quote for replacement tires that were inline with the shops in town. We were back on the road in a very short time.

Will gladly be recommending Don’s towing moving forward! I got the run around from 2 other companies about arrival times and Don’s was true to their word! Mike was an amazing driver and got us token care of right away that we were able to make our scheduled appointment on time! Thank you all so much for your amazing service in uncertain circumstances and weather conditions! You are rockstars! Honestly 5 stars is not enough, 10/10 recommend!

I wish I could give 0 stars for having a horrible experience with specifically the owner. Yes, the owner who makes money off of people/situations and lacks basic human kindness. I had a a situation where I needed to pick up my car. Being out of state I called to see if there was a credit/debit option given. My daughter initially called to find out it’s “cash only”. As charged per the day we’re a factor I just wanted to call, see if I could pay her the phone and have my daughter pick up the car. To my surprise when I called a man answered and I was transferred to a lady. The experience included me asking for clarification about the “cash only” policy, I explained my situation and I found out there is no other option. I was frustrated given the situation and asked how and a big company has no other payment option. No lies the lady was rude as other reviews pointed out. After trying to offer feedback the lady hung up on me. I called back and wanted to share my feedback on this horrible interaction. I spoke with the young man again and I asked for the supervisor. I told him about the call, he apologized and told me “that was the owner who you spoke to.” In this world where we can choose to be kind , the owner choose to be a complete incompetent business owner lacking simple customer service skills and most importantly the decency to be human. In a world where we pay for things whether or not the situation was in our favor or our fault or simply pure mistakes, I hope the owner works on herself, she’s definitely not been kind to herself and it shows in the way she treats others. If I was treated this way on the phone I can’t imagine being a worker who works for her. The toxicity in the workplace is one not worth sticking around for. The toxicity, rude customer service and childish hanging up on customers attempting to problem solve the situation and clarifying paying options is also not with it. The young man apologized in her behalf and shared that they way she is is due to the turnover of people in the past and their paying issues. The past experienced of this owners experiences not getting their money or having issues with payment lead to a supposedly “cash only” policy. It’s 2025 and I’m sure there are much better ways to help a paying customer. Do better “owner” of Dons Towing.

I definitely not recommend this business. I would also highly recommend that the city of La Crosse rethink any contract that they have with this business. Cheapest is not always the best. They are rude, misleading and downright disrespectful.

Had a major breakdown with my car that I needed for work. They were able to basically rebuild half my front end. Bonus that they had/had access to the parts and got it done within a day and a half, along with a few other bits of maintenance. Always have had a good experience here.

I’ve had an experience twice with Don’s Towing due to an AAA partnership; once to change my tire and once to jump start. I was pleased with their punctuality and willingness to help, however I did feel slightly talked down to by their staff, but it was late afternoon both times so I understand if it had been a long day. The reason I am rating this company so low is because of my previous experience. When my car was jump started, the technician (not going to name names) said that my alternator needed to be replaced and that I needed to get to a shop ASAP otherwise I wouldn’t be able to drive. I drove to AutoZone immediately after and they tested the battery right in front of me, and the battery was the issue. My problem is that a technician, a person I should trust, is giving me false information, accidentally or on purpose. I don’t want this to happen again and something more disastrous to happen. I don’t fault the technician or Don’s because mistakes do happen, but I do want others to be aware.

Awesome experience got battery jumped n a few miles earlier it was jumped buy someone n I stopped my like 3+ miles later to get a soda ,after getting into my it wouldn't start so called AAA n Don's towing showed up n gave me a jump n gave me a ride to the place I was staying at n then towed my vehicle to the shop n told me would be installed in the morning n it was n had a great ride back 270mi trip the customer service at the place was awesome

If I could give less I would. I usually only write about good places and if bad, refrain from saying much. However, the lack of customer service, the rude employees, swearing at customers, providing incorrect information, and complete lack of empathy; this place and it's workers are lower than low. I would recommended any other place before Don's Towing. I don't care if the work they do is done well. It does not make up for or justify such inappropriate behavior, poor de-escalation skills, and complete disrespect! I will be sure to let everyone know. There are several places in this area with far superior services; both in car service and customer service. I come from a past of customer service, and currently have to deal with several unhappy people in the hospital. If I ever heard any of the way they spoke today, people would either be fired or written up. The worst service I have had in my life!
In response to the "owner" response: Yes, this is the correct location. Yes, it is the intended review. I did have some grammatical errors, so tried to fix those. No, I do not wish to discuss this further. The opportunity to address the issue was then and there and due to the terrible customer service, I honestly wouldn't want to speak with you again. My review and opinion stand and I will continue to give the same opinion, as I already have, to multiple people.

We own and operate a fleet in the La Crosse area. I see many negative reviews regarding the price of Don's. My thoughts on this are you get what you pay for in towing. We have used nearly every tow company in western WI. Don's is by far the most consistent and professional company we work with. They have never said no when faced with a weird scenario. I have had to call them 2 to 3 times in one day and they always answer the call. Their office staff are very friendly and incredibly helpful. Their drivers are considerate and professional.

The driver who towed my car was super helpful and friendly. They did a great job getting my car back on the road quickly. However, I was displeased with the price on the service, so I left a 2 star review. They just called me not too long ago asking why. I stated that it was quite costly (repair not towing) considering other estimates from other shops in the area. She LAUGHED and said “well it’s a Lexus”. That’s not how you treat a customer complaint. The audacity to assume that I don't know how much these things should cost, or understand that it would be more than let’s say a civic. I really had no problems until they reached out to me regarding my review. I was even going to change it to a four star review, despite the cost, since they fixed my car so fast. Not after that conversation. Yikes just go somewhere else.

negative 5 star....front desk staff very rude and unprofessional!! especially old manager lady which had a very disgusting attitude towards minorities. i felt discriminated against as i walked away with my head down because i was judged out loud by the manager lady who said people dont just get off of drugs!! yes they do lady! recovery is possible.

I wanted my battery tested; not because I was having issues but because it’s 5.5 years old and I have a fear of being stranded somewhere when traveling.
I stopped in Don’s and they came out and tested it. While I was sure they would tell me that they recommend a new battery, I was pleasantly surprised when I was told that my battery was good (still at 698 of 700 something). To top it off, “No charge”.
I know where I’m going when I do need any repairs!

If I could give negative stars, I would. Why AAA continues to contract with this so-called business is beyond me. Don's called me soon after I placed a service request via AAA but then when I explained where I needed a tow to and from they suddenly switched their tune and said “we aren’t going to take this job”, rudely refusing to help me even though they're less than 2 miles away, giving me some BS excuse that it was "rush hour.” (It was 4pm in La Crosse, WI. To call that "rush hour" is absurd, and anywhere it's literally their job to tow no matter when or where people need towing.) They clearly just didn't like the mechanic that I had asked to have my car towed to. In disbelief, I asked, 'well are you going to get someone else?' Don's said they would put the service call back to AAA dispatch, but after requesting several updates via the AAA text bot I find out nearly an hour later the service call was cancelled on me. For a tow that should have taken 15 minutes at most, I was stranded on the street for 3 hours. I will do everything in my power to get AAA to drop this pathetic excuse for a business. In the meantime: protect yourself and refuse to give them any work.

Don's reply is yet another bold-faced lie. My tow request was perfectly within the bounds of my AAA membership, and anyway if that were truly the reason they abruptly refused the job, they would have said so then.Apr 28, 2025 -
Needed an alternator fixed and attempted to do it myself. Quickly realized I needed more tools than I had at college. Called and got it towed and fixed the same day. They were able to use the new alternator I bought. Towing and labor for ~$200. Happy to have the issue resolved quickly. Friendly staff, quality work. Would recommend to others!

The gals in front office are terrible at communicating and extremely rude. Do not recommend this company! They take advantage of the college age kids in that town. They did bait and switch on us with pricing. My son lives and works downtown LaCrosse so walks to work and rarely has the need to use his vehicle. He was not aware of the City ordinance indicating you need to move it every 48hrs. The LaCrosse PD did have it towed but was super helpful and understanding when communicating with them. The La Crosse police department even tried to call on our behalf to help rectify the situation with Dons towing and he called back saying they were unreasonable.

I got into an accident and they were called. When the driver came, he said AAA did not cover it (it my first accident, I didn't know I should've called AAA.) A few days later I go to give them my car for scrap. And the lady gives me an oil change card (thank you for the card I can't use because I don't have a car.) The people are nice, but they for sure cheated me, because they only gave me $50 for scrap. Anyway, the next day I return to take my stuff out, and my stereo is gone. I ask them about it and they said they would look at security footage. Several times, about 3 or 4, they said I should come back to see if they found anything, they said nothing new (so I drove there for no reason a few times).

Awful experience! My husband got in an argument with the guy that picked up his car. I calmly called the guy back and explained my husband has anxiety and apologized. The guy then made a hand sized dent in my husband's car prior to taking pictures of it. Now we have no proof but will be talking to an attorney.

Came to La Crosse to pick up my vehicle that my son had used to move himself into his house near campus. The vehicle was parked behind his house where the maintenance supervisor of the property management company indicated they could park. Late Saturday evening, my son looked out and the car was gone. A sign was posted three properties over with Don's Towing listed, so he called to find out that he had been towed, and that he could pick up the vehicle on Sunday between 9am and 1pm. We've straightened out things with the property management company, and will be reimbursed for the towing charge from them, but what hasn't been rectified is the damage done to my vehicle by Don's Towing. Before I paid I insisted that I inspect the vehicle, as my BMW 328xi has low ground clearance, and the manufacturer's recommendation is that this all wheel drive vehicle be flatbed towed, or towed from the front with a dolly on the rear wheels. My vehicle was towed from the rear with the front dolly'd. The lower edge of the bumper is scuffed, which is the damage I was initially concerned with. They took photos and told me to call Steve, their towing Manager, during the week. I called on Tuesday September 25th and he said that he needed to see the car, not the pictures the owner indicated their employee take. I live in the Appleton area and do not plan to be back in La Crosse for Months. Since driving the vehicle back to Appleton, I have a noise from the suspension that wasn't there before. Towing a Multi-Link rear suspension vehicle from the rear is NOT recommended, and I now have another problem to diagnose and repair.
And I an sure the bumper cover wasn't damaged as I personally had replaced the bumper in July, and again inspected it in August when I replaced the right front air duct that cools the brakes, as I had to r&r the bumper to install. My question is why din't they tow the second vehicle that was parked back there? and in the picture, you will see the property management company parked under Don's towing sign, as well as a city of La Crosse Police car, and I'll bet they have never been towed! I will be looking into my options to recuperate for damages, as well as investigate with the city if there is proper permitting for the sign advertising Don's towing posted three properties away.Oct 09, 2018
