Absolutely awful camp, do not send your kids here. The owner, which I believe is named Joe, and along with the counselors, are aweful. Joe is a money hungry self absorbed person. Went here years ago and had to cancel due to personal reasons. What did Joe do? He kept the money, which was thousands of dollars and not a single penny returned to my family. The next day, Joe already had someone fill in my spot. Not only that but the counselors take safely way too seriously. When needing to go to the bathroom late at night, they make you wake up a grumpy buddy to take with you. Not only that but, it is normalized from the counselors and Joe to make the teenage girls change clothes in the cabin. Keep in mind these cabins are not big, and have no space to cover yourself when changing. “Oh but you could go to the bathroom and change” You could, but how annoying is it to walk up a million stairs to use the bathroom, and forcing a friend to come with you. Not only that, but the owner is not very lgbtq friendly in my experience, and for someone who owns a teens camp, that seems very immature. Not going into details for what he said and did, but it wasn’t cool. Not only that but, the owner is a older man, riding his golf cart at night around the cabins. Keep in mind, children change in here, and he’s going around the cabins. Isn’t that a little weird? There’s also counselors in the cabins watching you. I find that for an older man to be in charge of an all girls overnight camp, is really weird. Especially since he’s the only biological male there. And about the cabins, the cabins are never cleaned, and are dirty. There are dead bugs and spiders everywhere, and the beds are very uncomfortable. The wood is also rotten and it smells horrible. For a thousand dollar camp, I think people expect atleast a nice place to stay, and not a dirtbag being in charge of the place. I get it, dirt is part of the camping experience, but seriously, it grossed me out to be here. Whether it be from Joe, the cabins, the fact we are forced to sleep on concrete with just a sleeping bag, and more. I would not recommend sending your children here, and if you do, I warn you of the things I have experienced

Camp Rim Rock is a wonderful place! I attended as a child in the 80's and my daughters both went to camp. My youngest child, now 15, has spent 7 summers here and loves it! The staff is wonderful, including the nurses, who were all very caring and ensured my children received all of their medications daily. Do not hesitate to send your daughters here for a traditional camp experience; arts and crafts, horseback riding, swimming, cabin camping and more! They will leave with memories for a lifetime!

My daughter has been there for 3 summers now. She absolutely loves it and even got 2 friends from school to go. It gives her an excellent place to be independent and creative at the same time. The horseback riding is such a bonus. Staff are excellent! And I love the pictures everyday.

Amazing! Wonderful staff, well crafted cabins, beautiful setting, and horses!!!! Would attend again!

We had an amazing time at Camp Rim Rock with our Girl Scout Troop. It’s a beautiful area and the girls loved spending time with the horses.

Do not go to this camp. The director is dishonest, nonresponsive and owes many parents thousands of dollars. He is a year late on our most recent installment payment under the bankruptcy. We have been owed a refund since March 2021.

My daughters and I love this camp. We've attended for multiple years with our Girl Scout's service unit. The facilities are well attended to, the team is always available for questions and needs, the kitchen staff prepares a great spread of food for all the meals. We look forward to coming back this year.

Our Girl Scout Service Unit has done encampment at Camp Rock for 2 years (our third will be this May). We've had such an excellent experience! The food, staff, and activities are great! The facilities are clean, and the girls have a blast. Joe is wonderful and has really made the experience enjoyable for everyone!

My daughter and I had the opportunity of spending our Girl Scout Encampment overnights in May of 2024 at Camp Rim Rock. It was an AMAZING experience. The property is beautiful, safe, and full of activities for our scouts. Our troop had such a wonderful time with horseback riding, kayaking, archery, and more! Spending time near the campfire and of course sleeping over in the cabins was something our scouts still talk about. We will definitely be going back this May 2025 for the next encampment! Highly recommend this venue to any organizations or groups wanting outdoor adventure with comfort, safety, and lots of fun!

I went to this camp in the late 1970s and I had the time of my life! I still fondly think about this camp on a somewhat regular basis because it was the first time I was ever away from home, & all of the different activities and experiences that I had I just will never forget! I’m so glad that this special camp was made available to me when I was young, & that my parents learned out about it, when they did..

Our daughter absolutely ? loved Camp Rim Rock. The check-in process was a well-oiled machine. The camp activities were fun and engaging. The experienced counselors were an amazing team. Thank you for making this an enjoyable experience for our daughter.

This ia an excellent camp for girls. They learn a lot and become more independent. The owner/manager Joe is great and knows what he is doing. It was our third year back with two girls.

Wonderful facility. Beautiful views. Excellent amenities. Food was pretty good, my one piece of feedback is that in order to avoid cross-contamination on the buffet line for people who have food allergies, they should keep some of the generally available items back in the kitchen with the food for people with allergies. I did end up getting sick, and it was almost certainly due to cross contamination on the buffet. They had safe alternatives in the kitchen, but just alternatives to main items, not full meals. So they had gluten-free bread, but not hummus kept separate from the hummus that might have been contaminated by the regular bread, for example. All that said, they took excellent care of us for our Girl Scout Encampment and I would return if they would agree to try to do a better job keeping food for allergy sufferers separate.

Camp Rim Rock is an incredible! My daughter has attended for several summers as well as for offseason Girl Scouts camping. The staff are always friendly and helpful, the facilities and variety of activities are superior, the horses are stunning and well cared for, and the food is great! Your child will make the best memories at Camp Rim Rock! I wish I had the option to go as a child.

My sister and I went here when we were younger and it was one of the best experiences of our life. I’m 28 years old now and still keep in touch with 2 of my cabin mates. The summer camp in the movie “The Parent Trap” reminds me so much of Rim Rock. Every young girl should experience camp rim rock at least once in her life.

I have been going to Camp Rim Rock since the summer before 3rd grade. I have always moved around a lot but camp has always been my home away from home, a true constant. There are so many fun things at camp and you get to make lifelong friends.

Our daughter loved this camp. She is already signed up for next summer!!! She said she had a ton of fun, had no complaints of any kind, said all the counselors were friendly and helpful, and made a lot of friends. She has even continued to stay in touch with some of her camp friends. As parents, we were very impressed with the professionalism the camp is managed. Everything was very well organized and it made us feel confident that our daughter was well cared for.

Our daughter had expressed interest to go to a sleep away camp. We have never done so, and we were rather nervous. We reached out to a Summer camp specialist Summer365 to help us find the right fit. While we were inundated with information of many options, Camp Rimrock stood out like a gem for various reasons. It is an all girls camp that provides a great balance of sports and the arts allowing kids to explore activities they likely wouldn't be able to fit in during the school year. Most importantly, they have 70 horses on site and provide equestrian lessons each day. We also checked reviews and with our local Moms group here in Maryland. One of the Moms shared that she attended that camp as a teen and it was some of the best times of her life. That alone sold us, but we still asked for a site visit. We dedicated a full day for a trip down to the Camp and got to meet the owner for personal tour of the entire camp. Everything, and I mean everything, was amazing, even our younger daughter wants to attend now! Things that stood out while on site, the camp is well organized and settled next to a beautiful mountain with a small river/ creek nearby where they sometimes go and swim with horses (how amazing is that?!). They have multiple fields for a wide variety of sports, pools, and a small lake with a beach. Naturally, they have camp fire rings and a rock climbing wall. The cabins are sealed pretty well and quite clean, as are the bathroom facilities. There are two counselors assugbed to each cabin with the girls so there is always direct supervision and care. One of the things that really stood out is the equastrian program and how they ensure the safety and wellbeing of both horses and girls. The have a very large stable strategically designed for young girls to safetly have an exit out of the horse stalls. Everything is also at a lower height making tools such as their brushes and bits accesible to the girls. Additionally, they pair each girl with a horse based on the girl's experience and horse's own experience and temperment. The girls ride the same horse for the entire time they are at camp. For those unfamliar, having the same horse makes a huge difference when learning to ride one, plus you create a special bond (I know I did back in college with my assigned horse). After the site visit, it was clear that these people know what they are doing. We immediately signed up our daughter and look forward to when our younger daughter can join her. If you have any doubts, just give them a call. You won't regret it!

Camp Rim Rock is simply the BEST. We have two kids who have been going for years and it is truly a wonderful, empowering and inclusive camp experience. There are always tears when we pick them up because they are so sad to say good-bye to the staff and their friends, and there are always BIG smiles when we drop them off. This past summer, we weren't in the car for 30 minutes when our oldest asked if they could return for the final riding week (which was also fantastic). We absolutely love this camp and we feel grateful our kids get to experience it.

My daughter went for the first time this summer and had the most wonderful experience. She learned to horseback ride, and loved it! Each child gets a horse of "their own" during camp. There was archery, swimming, canoeing, swimming with the horses, camp fire nights, and more! She was in a cabin with friends her age and two counselors. It is an all-girls camp and the staff-student ratio is excellent. She got quality care and had room to be a kid. She came home eager, happy, and confident. Before attending she was still trying to "come out of her shell" post-COVID and this was the dose of fun and independence she sorely needed! We already signed up for a session for next summer 2022-2023. Thank you, Camp Rim Rock!!

What an Amazing Place! My daughter had a memorable stay there that will impact her life forever. So much to do, and No cell phones to consume a teenager’s time! Activities, new Friends, horseback riding, healthy food, and comrodery. Worth the long drive for her Amazing 2 week stay. Highly Recommend for your child/teen’s Memorable Camping Experience.

This camp is amazing. The owner is really nice and genuinely cares. The counselors get to know the girls and the activities are diverse and fun. The food is good too according to my daughter. She loved her experience and wants to return.

I loved this Camp when I was a child. The original Owners where wonderful people who everyone loved tremendously. The director of the riding center was a wondaful caring human being. I think her name was Caroline and she taught me so much. I don't know if she is still working there. There was also this cook (that i don't remember her name) that used to greet me every year and give me a big hug. The camp, the original owners, the cook, and the director of the riding center, had a huge impact on my life and i will always be fond of this place and of them. I never really got to know the new owners when they took over, but the few times we did interact they seemed like nice people. I still to this day remanence fondly over all my camp days in the early 90s to early two thousands as a child. However the last time i was there I was a camp counselor for the first time. It was one of the first jobs i had ever had. I remember a viruses hit the camp and was being passed around. everything was normal at first but then when more people became sick we where not permitted to leave the premises on our day off, they even told us the counselor lounges used on days off that had AC would be off limits (i presume to minimize the speared of the viruses but I don't recall clearly). Thus we then only had the camper cabins to be in on our off days. We where then told if we where in the cabins we had to work, even if it was our day off. With nowhere to go there was nothing we could do. We where not even allowed to go off the premises. I remember many counselors at the time where exhausted and some where frustrated. One fell off their horse because of exhaustion on the trail. Many sated they where not paid on time either or at all, and many said they would not come back. However many of us realized that bc we where so short staffed bc of the viruses, we understood we all had to do double shifts and do extra time to make sure there was enough coverage for the kids. A lot of us where fine with that, but I do remember some of the counselors complained they never got paid for the extra shifts they worked. I was not one of them that experienced this issue and i was never sure if what the others stated where true. I was only a bit annoyed at the time that i could not reach out to family because the computers and phones where in the counselor lounges that where off limits during the time everyone was getting sick. A lot of us did not have cellphones back then and if you did, usually there was no cell coverage in the area. I still think it is a wonderful camp. I would have gone back to work with them again the next season, but after finishing college I had moved to another country. I will always treasure my time spent there in my youth. It is certainly a place you will never forget.

An amazingly well run, nurturing environment that I have enjoyed both as a camper 30 years ago and now as a parent seeing my own daughter attend! The variety of activities, character formation, and counselor to camper ratio - along with availability of photos for parents - makes me feel certain my daughter is receiving all the benefits of sleepaway camp and making memories that will last a lifetime! And it’s in a beautiful setting too. So highly recommend!

My daughter just returned from the 1-week riding camp, and she had a great time. I was concerned before sending her due to the mixed reviews here on Google, so I wanted to take an opportunity to share our experience. The drop-off/pick-up was very well organized and efficient. There were plenty of staff and they all appeared friendly, happy and competent. Due to continuing COVID restrictions, we were unable to go into the actual camp so most of the other comments are second-hand through my 9 y.o. daughter. The occupancy rates appear low since she only had one other girl and two counselors in her cabin. Several cabins were grouped together for most activities and she had 8 girls in that larger group. She liked her cabin but she said the bathhouse was "a little creepy." She loved the horse she was assigned for the week and was able to work on the same skills she does during her regular lessons at home. She particularly loved swimming her horse in the river. She said the food was good and it sounds like they have a variety of options at every meal to accommodate everyone. Besides lots of riding, she got to swim, kayak, roast marshmallows, and do other typical camp stuff. She said all the girls and the counselors were super nice. At pick-up there were lots of hugs all around. I loved the daily photo posts online and the emails that I sent to her were all received the next day. The CampInTouch system is works well. Overall, she had a fabulous time, made great friends, and wants to go back next year.

My daughter had a great time at camp despite the barriers and difficulties associated with COVID last summer. The camp did a great job securing a “bubble”. She was challenged by the riding and loved every aspect of camp. She asked if she could just go all summer next year ?. Accommodating to dietary differences and a great place overall for girls to be girls.

I thought the riding camp this year was very fun, my only year I was able to attend and it was pretty fun. You see the comments about diet restrictions but they have other options if you don’t was the meal given or want to add to it. I rode Concho and she was a really nice appy pony, she definitely helped have a fun equine experience even when I’ve been riding back home for 7 years. Swimming in the lake and pool was fun, went kayaking for the first time and it was a lot of fun. Swimming with Frippon was cool too! Never thought I would do a slip n slide to the other side of a horse even after taking my old trail ponies swimming back home. I was given the opportunity to help with AM barn on the last full day and it brought back memories of grooming and tacking 27 horses with co-workers for costumer trail rides back home lol. All in all it was a good experience. I do recommend this camp, don’t care about what supposedly happened last year because this past week was really fun. Can’t wait to see all my photos! (The photographer was so sweet and always happy to get our picture!)

If your daughter likes horses and English riding this is the camp for her. My girls went for 4 and 5 years, and mostly enjoyed their time at camp. One chose a different camp this year, but that has more to do with the camp experience than Rim Rock specifically.

My girls have gone to Camp Rim Rock for the past 2 years, and we have already booked for 3 weeks next summer (although they lobbied hard to stay for 8 weeks!). The location is beautiful, the counselors outstanding, the activities varied, and the friendships lasting. I can't say enough good things about the camp, the management, and the natural beauty of the location. And at only 2 hours from DC, it is very convenient too.

My girls LOVE this place. We tell everyone we can about it. We were referred to it and have referred many friends. The oldest is now a Jr. Counselor after attending for 7 years. The little one is going for her 5th year. Joe and his crew are amazing. The little one developed an anxiety issue with smells and closed in spaces 2 years back prior to going to camp. We informed Joe and the counselor. They were very communicative with us on her first few days. They were able to devise a solution that worked for her and she was able to enjoy the entire 2 week stay. She has extended her stay by also attending the riding camp prior to general. If you have a daughter with a love of horses this is the place for her. When we pick up our girls at the end of camp we always receive good reviews on everything, especially the food and the older one is a picky eater. I cannot say enough good things about Camp Rim Rock.
