Some of the staff are nice, helpful, and friendly, while others are….. not. Costumer service can be very poor sometimes. I would also appreciate if they would be willing to at least look at my vehicle, after picking it up with NEW problems than before taking it in, instead of being set on the idea that they can do no wrong to cause issues.

We were impressed at first with the vast selection of Subarus available. The salesman who approached us almost immediately and made us feel like we were already friends. During our test drive, he took extra time to show safety and performance features of the model we were interested in. The process from when we walked on the lot until we drove our new Subaru home was convenient and professional.

I waited for my car in the showroom. No one told me there was a guest waiting area with drinks and popcorn and stuff like that. I didn’t know that until I ask where the restroom was, then I saw the waiting area. I sat in the showroom.

Great service, we were traveling through needed oil change didn't have an appointment. We called the night before they said walk ins were welcome between 8 and 11. We got there at 8am we were on the road by 9 am

Unfortunately had a terrible experience there with the service manager and associate who refused to even discuss any sort of options for repairs when insurance denied claim...I will never go there again for this reason. Worse yet, it was drawn out for 9 months!

The experience I had with River City Subaru was absolutely the best. Alex Ly was able to answer all my questions about my crosstrek, was proficient with each feature and made me feel at home throughout the process. Malorie was beyond helpful with the finance side ensuring I was able to get the best deals possible on ONLY those extras that I felt were best for me. She, too, made sure I felt like a member of the family. Ryan in service has been stellar ensuring that all service needs have been covered and that things are done in a timely manner. Hands down I would recommend each one of these 3 individuals to assist you in a smooth car buying (and maintenance) process.

River City Subaru is a great place to buy your new car. From the salesman, to the sales manager, to the finance manager the process was so easy. They provide great customer service. They also have an excellent parts and service department. That is why this is the fourth Subaru I have bought from River City Subaru.

Started with a phone call to several Subaru dealers, Pete at River City was by far the most up front and willing to work with us. He didn't play any games with upsells or hiding the price, just made sure we got the Subaru we wanted and it happened to be the best we heard. Honestly though, with the respect we were shown even before we arrived I probably would have stuck with them anyway. Now that the deal is done? We'll definitely be back for any future purchases.

I have been a customer since 2018 when I bought my first Crosstrek. That was the best car buying experience I had ever had. Alex Ly was my sales person then who treated me with great respect and answered all my questions professionally. The finance department made the car buying experience painless. I loved my Crosstrek. All of my subsequent service department visits were handled promptly, professionally, and with each visit everything was explained and any questions I had were answered, including when I took my car in to have the clogged rain drain cleaned out above the driver door. All of this is what took me back to River City Subaru for my second Crosstrek a month ago when, sadly, I lost my first one in an accident. Alex Ly was again my sales person, for which I am very thankful, and again the finance department took care of everything very efficiently and quickly. I highly recommend Subaru vehicles and River City Subaru and Alex Ly and the rest of the team who all get a 5 Star rating from me. I love my Crosstrek and am looking forward to the next several years in my continued relationship with them.

1/31/25 I have tried multiple times to call Tiffany, the digital concierge that commented on my review below to call her. The number listed kept taking me to a Medicare Insurance company. I am not surprised. One more way for River City Subaru to avoid dealing with me. I just want the documentation that I am entitled to that shows the diagnostics and findings on my Forester that led them to tell me my car needed a new engine!!! Then they took full advantage of me when selling me a used car. (I guess you can see in these comments why, after almost a year of requests, they appear to never plan on giving me this documentation as they knew they were taking advantage of me!! ) 11/3/24: update: Made another request to the dealership manager for the diagnostics and paperwork on my Forester that River City worked on last March, before telling me it needed a new engine. Again…. No response from the dealership. How do you run a business like this??? Why am I not able to get the diagnostics on my car??? (I have not received a reply to any emails I have sent in the last 8 months!!) Makes me continue to think/know they are hiding something and took full advantage of me and my situation! ……………………. On 3/3/2024, my boyfriend and I were on day 2 of a month long road trip to Florida. ( we are retired) My 2021 Forester Limited, fully loaded, low mileage broke down and we had it towed to the closest Subaru Dealership which was River City Subaru in Huntington, WV. They determined we had inadvertently added flex fuel to the gas tank. We were told they would empty the gas tank and flush the gas lines and this usually corrected the problem. After doing this my car still wouldn’t start. We were told they would try changing the spark plugs, possibly the fuel pump…still wouldn’t start. We were then told they would empty the fuel tank and flush the gas lines again. At the end of the day the car started! We were then told they wanted to keep it overnight, drive it awhile in the morning and we would be back on the road, on our way to Florida! We went back to a motel for the 2nd night there, arrived back at the dealership in the morning. The mechanic was out driving my car. When he returned we were told it ran ok, but an engine light came on and he wanted to check why. About an hour later we were taken into the garage and told my car needs a new engine that would cost around $6,000 and take 2-3 weeks. We were devastated! We were mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted by now. We asked what are we supposed to do?? Trade in my car and buy something else? What do we do? Exhausted as we were, we were then taken over to the sales department. No one discussed with us other options like rent a car, etc. I was given half what my car was worth for a trade in and handed a list of used cars to choose from. We were laughed at when we tried to negotiate a cheaper rate on the used car we chose. I had to finance some of it. I was not even told if I bought a new car, I maybe could have got a better deal since the interest rate was so much cheaper than the used car interest rate. This was all such an exhausting and emotionally draining experience. I contacted Subaru National and was assigned a Consumer Advocate. He and I repeatedly contacted the dealership manager requesting documentation of the diagnostics and repairs made and further needed repairs on my Forester. After over 6 weeks I received blank sheets of paper with only my demographic and car info on the top of the pages! The rest of the 2 pages are blank!! No diagnostics or repair notes from the 2 days it was in their shop! This has been such a nightmare dealing with this dealership !! I feel with the dealerships lack of transparency, the way we were treated at the dealership along with them ignoring Subaru and my emails that I was fully taken advantage of and most likely lied to since they won’t give me the work/ test records from the 2 days my car was in their shop, which lead them to tell me my car needed a new engine!!

Great experience with Subaru in Huntington WV. Sales dept didn't waste our time and moved in a timely manner with purchase of the Crosstrack. Very impressed with the no pressure, no gimmicks, no wasting of our time during the entire process. Was invited to come back after just a couple of weeks and had 1:1 session with the specialist on how to work all the bells and whistles. She was terrific and didn't hold us long either but asked several times if there was more she could do to ensure our comfort level with the functionality of the vehicle. First time purchase with Subaru and most likely there will be no return visits anywhere else. Love this vehicle

When to them a couple of years ago for the airbag recall situation. First they messed my desk up when they replaced it and when I returned to have that problem fixed they broke the air vents in my dash but the reason I'm writing this after calling them and not getting an answer is on October 31st I got involved in a pretty serious accident and what a surprise my new airbags that they were supposed to replace we're not deployed. And the reason I went to them was because I didn't trust Dutch Miller after shenanigans

At River City Subaru I found all three of of the parties that I personally dealt with were very professional and extremely courteous. I even found the Love Encord to be very beneficial in having various options pointed out and demonstrated. I will definitely be purchasing another Subaru from Rive City Subaru in the near future for the MRS.

Bought our car a week ago and overall had a good experience as far as the car itself and the financing dept is great! The man that helped us was less than impressive though. He gave us a lot of false promises of what we would get for our trade in, got a bunch of numbers wrong on the paperwork that the finance dept had to fix and then told us he would fill the car up with gas before we bought and as I drove the car home from the dealership I realized he did not and the gas light came on! Super dissapointing customer service on the salesman.

We bought our car here 6 months ago and have had it serviced twice. Both times they've made up stupid issues with the car to try and increase our service price. If something is wrong with our *brand new* vehicle less than a year after purchasing that says a lot about the quality of the BRAND NEW vehicles they're selling here. The whole experience with this dealership has been awful.

We had a very pleasant experience at River City Subaru. George was very knowledgeable but most importantly, he was not pushy. He presented my husband and me with the information we were looking for then stepped away to allow us time to think/talk/shop without feeling hassled. Shopping for a new vehicle can be very stressful, but we were able to make a decision on the vehicle that best fit our needs without feeling pressured. We definitely recommend River City Subaru!

We came to River City after going to the Subaru dealership in Charleston and it was worth the drive. The customer service blew us away! They were willing to listen to what we wanted in a vehicle, where we wanted to be price wise, and made the buying process as easy as possible. We walked on the lot, test drove, purchased the vehicle, and drove off the lot in just over and hour and a half. There was no haggling, no sifting through hidden agendas or numbers….it was so straightforward and easy. The best car buying experience we’ve ever had. AND they beat the price of the exact same car at the Charleston dealership. I got the exact car I wanted at a great price. It doesn’t get any better than that!
