We rented an airBNB/ VRBO house, there’s plenty of options so find something that accommodates your needs.
The spot we had was right on the water, facing Olympic National Park. We had some spectacular sunsets, I wish pictures did it justice.
Getting here is an hour& half drive from Seattle, and a short ferry over to the island. It is a private island so you can only get here with a permit issued by someone who lives on the island. The ferry is small and fits 10 cars total, so make sure to get there in time to be first in line & bring cash to pay. 20$ per car& driver and an additional 3$ per passenger.
There are a ton of incredibly friendly deer on the island, if you have lettuce or some deer feed they’ll come up and eat out of your hands.
We also brought kayaks and paddled around the island, it took quite a bit of time by the currents accommodated us on the way home thankfully.

Herron Island…Truly a treasure of the Pacific Northwest. It’s simply a private small and peaceful community, with beauty flourishing throughout the island.

The best Airbnb. It was so quiet and the deer were everywhere. We had baby deer eating out of our hands. They even tried to come in the house. Btw they are known for their domesticated deer. I'll be going back for sure.
The island is small. Takes about 1 ½ hours to walk around it. Just make sure its during low tide otherwise you won't be able to walk around it. The deer will come up to you asking for food. Some you can even pet.
It's a great place to vacation or live. Everyone is friendly, respectful, and watch out for one another. Were looking into buying on the island we like it so much.
Husband's family has a house out here. No restaurants, shops, or other services, just a small island community for living the beach life. Come here to kayak, paddle board, and have a bonfire, but don't expect much else!
