It is very quiet, peaceful, and still a beautiful destination. Easy to navigate (it's an island), and even though it's relatively small, there's always something new to learn or discover. Perfect for day trips, weekend stays, air bnb, or whatever you may want to do. You'll feel at home with the lack of city noise and lights. Every park has a restroom that's functioning well and stocked. You'll get a glimpse of what the area used to look like. Highly recommended.
The lakes have alligators, the parks have wild dogs, and at night, the living dead wander about and strange sounds come from the woods. You definitely do not want to go there ??
We went to Anderson island for a memorial. I had never been their before so I didn't know what to expect. The view was breathtaking. I left the island with a strong desire to come back and I will. The people their were friendly and polite and the island was absolutely beautiful plus the kids really liked the ferry ride lol
Love this place, but only downfall is there is one store, one restaurant, and one cafe, and it all shuts down around 830ish everynight and if you miss the last ferry, your stuck for the night with no last minute book hotels or rentals.
If you like to bird watch, Anderson Island is the place go! Lots of very cool and uncommon shore birds and a great café for when you are ready to take a break from the bird action!
Anderson Island is one of the most beautiful places around the Puget Sound. The public amenities are not common, as much of the land is private. However, the store can be a fun stop to get supplies and information, and there is a selection of public parks. Jane Cammon Park and Jacobs Point Park include some great short hikes or running, and Andy's Marine Park features a hike down to picturesque beachfront with a pretty lagoon.
Nice island, but best if you have a pre- destination. mostly private cabins and homes. Nice salt water beach access for public but best walking a low tide. The island is heavily treed feels remote.
A well kept secret in the South Puget Sound. Like back in the 1960's. 2 lakes, public swimming hole, golf course , NO box stores...just our country store. Love it!
