Hard to get to but well worth it, hilarious story too. One guy built a bank on sleds, and would open it at a new location every morning cause he couldn’t get property due to land disputes. Definitely read up on it.

We visited the ghost town of Molson WA today that is right on the Canadian boarder. How close? So close that I got a text from T-Mobile welcoming me to Canada!! Molson is in fact only 2 miles from the border and was founded in 1900 by John Molson who was one of the Molson Brewery/Banking family of Montreal. Later some contention with townsite owner, J.H. McDonald prompted residents and commerce to relocate a half mile north across the railroad track to establish New Molson in 1909 abandoning old Molson thus making it a ghost town. We had the place all to ourselves and as it had become a cloudy and blustery day we had a car picnic at the site of the old school house and then explored a bit. We also stopped at the Molson Cemetery to look at both old and new graves and were serenaded by a herd of cows. Down the road a bit was an old abandoned farm with some very cool old buildings. The Okanogan County Historical Society has some wonderful signs all around the county with stories about the people and the area.

Had the place to myself, its set up for you to interact with just about everything, just be aware that everything is old and fragile, and the doors kinda slam behind you. Bell works! It was pretty warm up there, 82 so I was constantly hydrating my dog but thankfully there was a good breeze and the buildings were a good 10-15 degrees cooler than outside. Last but not least, do not try to sit on the chairs, someone seemingly had some bad luck and fell through one. ?

Incredible ghost town. The best I've seen. It's hard to find anything to do for free anymore and this was top notch, just make sure you gas up 1st!

Such a great ghost town to visit. We love going here especially as it's only about 45 minutes away from where we live. It's amazing to read about the history and see the artifacts. It's free to enter, great parking, and a portable toilet to use. There is a lot you can see from the outside even if you have mobility issues. If you're already in Molson be sure to check out the school house museum just a little north of here on the left hand side.

Everything is set up so that you can see inside the buildings and read the displays at your own pace. Nicely done.

What a great place to take your family to experience the early days. This ghost town is open 24 hours a day, better during day light. Right up the road the old high school, now house's the history of Molson. Don't forget about the old train station, now the Molson library, the rail lines that lead down to Molson and Sidney lake ( award winning winter derby s) to complete the Loop onward 9 mile road where small camps , history. There's also a few mystery animals that roam the area.

There is a lot to see and learn about here! Be sure to travel up the road a little further to see the school house museum as well. The drive there from Republic is beautiful. Fuel up before you go. Historic, abandoned homes along the way make for good photo opportunities. Plenty of places to get out and stretch the legs and explore.
